deluca67 Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 The salaries for the goalies that backstopped their teams to the second round. Roberto Luongo - $5.3 mil Tim Thomas - $5.0 mil Pekka Rinne - $3.4 mil Dwayne Roloson - $2.5 mil Antti Niemi - $2.0 mil Brian Boucher - $925k Michal Neuvirth - $765k Jimmy Howard - $$717k I know many will disagree, IMO this is the continuation of the trend that shows you don't need the big ticket goalie.
deluca67 Posted April 28, 2011 Author Report Posted April 28, 2011 Dude, we get it. Another thread, really? Is there a shortage on server space?

Just for clarification...you are doing cap hits. Salaries are different Loungo $10 mil Thomas $6 mil Rinne 2.4 etc... Roloson is over 35 so I'm not sure what the incentives are....

Two things that jump out at me; 1) For all the talk about parity, both conferences have 1,2,3,5 left. 2) Other then Mike Fisher and Eric Brewer, did any of these teams get any significant contributions from a trade deadline acquisition?

If Boston plays Vancouver will there be a "I guess I was wrong" thread?

Only Peverly in Boston comes to mind. Arnot in Washington has been good.

Kris Versteeg for the Flyers. 5 assists and a +6.

Great, how do you expect us to trade Miller now that you've told the entire league they really don't need a high priced goalie.?

Oakstream Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 All of those goalies will earn more cash when their contract expires. I mean, Rinne at 3.4?? They all seem underpaid, more or less.
tom webster Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 Kris Versteeg for the Flyers. 5 assists and a +6. Have to admit he was better then I thought in this series but hardly a difference maker.
X. Benedict Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 Kris Versteeg for the Flyers. 5 assists and a +6. I'm surprised by that. Good find. I really didn't think he stood out in the series at all.

Young goalies who will get big paydays soon...
X. Benedict Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 Young goalies who will get big paydays soon... I'd be worried about Howard. I think he came up a year too soon. I didn't really think that the Rangers tested Neuvirth much.
SwampD Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 Is there a shortage on server space? Then SwampD will complain about another "DeLuca is Wrong" thread. Both of these responses are exactly what I would expect and exactly why I keep reading. (and I never said you were wrong, but TW has a good point)
X. Benedict Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 If Boston plays Vancouver will there be a "I guess I was wrong" thread? .....I love playoff stats...the trouble is they are indicative of the match-ups of each series more than comparable across them.
deluca67 Posted April 28, 2011 Author Report Posted April 28, 2011 Young goalies who will get big paydays soon... Both are signed for two more years. Howard at $2.25 mil and Neuvirth at $1.15.
darksabre Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 I'd be worried about Howard. I think he came up a year too soon. I didn't really think that the Rangers tested Neuvirth much. I like Howard. I think he's the Red Wings best chance and I don't anticipate him being a detriment. They had to stop relying on Osgood one of these days. Also, Dywane Roloson is OLD!

lalalalalaFontaine Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 I totally agree with this post... goalies are a dime a dozen nowadays... there aren't many Martin Brodeur's out there that can single handedly win the Cup. Unfortunately, Ryan Miller is a very overrated goalie. We are still in rebuild mode as far as I am concerned. This current roster, even with some quality upgrades still will be middle of the pack at best in the Eastern Conference. I would not be heartbroken to see Miller traded away for picks/prospects.
Braedon Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 I know many will disagree, IMO this is the continuation of the trend that shows you don't need the big ticket goalie. Except when you don't have the firepower and/or shut down defense. Then you need the big ticket goalie. I'm not a Miller disciple, but I'd love to see a swap with one of your aforementioned cost-friendly netminders.
bunomatic Posted April 28, 2011 Report Posted April 28, 2011 If Boston plays Vancouver will there be a "I guess I was wrong" thread? I hope so, I picked Vancouver/Boston in the finals.
