X. Benedict Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 This team needs forwards in the worst way. The right side is a complete joke and you have only one legit top six forward in Vanek. Maybe Ennis will join Vanek this year making it two. How many teams have a more productive right side? If a player like Hartnell becomes available you have to take a shot. He may not be available next season especially if Philly does move him. Not to forget how poorly Regier spends money. You would spend resources needed to get a center on a LW? There maybe no money to pick up a Hartnell next year. Just look at the $8 mil in cap space that Regier has wasted since Pegula took over. Hartnell would be a solid addition to most rosters....however, I don't see him scoring 20 goals on most rosters either. What do you imagine is his price? It wouldn't be just a salary dump. And ........................................................................why would he waive his NTC without a 7 year contract extension?
LGR4GM Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 I am worried about the same old adage. You would think if they were going to do something it would have happened already and it is getting late for a significant move. After the draft, a lot of teams like to see what they have and how everything meshes. I don't remember a lot of moves the last couple of years after the draft except free agent signings. yea but the trades around the draft happen either today or mainly tomorrow, i dont see the sabres doing anything either though. Heck we still have RFA's to sign. It feels terribly familiar to last offseason, I just hope if we do nothing the team tanks and regier gets fired. Then he can wait around while the market sets the value on him (0.01 $, for 3 years sounds about right)
bunomatic Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 Isn't the draft held in Toronto this year? If so you can bet Burke will try to make a splash as he likes to be the show. Anyone think he might let his ego get in the way of good hockey decisions? Minnesota, Got it. Thanks

I don't get this need of being relevant or having news to discuss in late June/July.

Except for having a short attention span or some other narcissistic pathology, I don't really see the point to that either.
X. Hoping the team tanks? There are still about 4 months left to make moves.
North Buffalo Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 i need a distraction. Me too editing photos... what else am I going to do while they upload...

After the draft, a lot of teams like to see what they have and how everything meshes. I don't remember a lot of moves the last couple of years after the draft except free agent signings. There hasn't been a significant move in the whole league (Philly trading for Bryzgalov's rights is the biggest), but you would have expected it already? Pronger was traded during the draft, Bouwmeester was traded at the draft, Chicago traded away many parts last year starting the day before the draft, and so on. While some trades do usually occur prior to the draft, most significant ones don't come until a day or so before the draft and on through mid-July.

inkman Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 The instant gratification attitude seems to be overwhelming Sabres nation.

The kiddies need to find a distraction. <_< (And just our luck, it's coming here rather than finding internet porn or playing Crack-ops. :wallbash: )

But i do have a half day today because I get done with work at 1.

Original post was meant to be funny, a joke if you will, aimed at us "young folk." put that in the complaint thread! speaking of...is that even open yet? because I want to complain that you have a half day, and I don't.

You cross your fingers that somebody you like in the second round will fall to you in the third round.” - Kevin Devine on getting Brayden McNabb and how they are going into this years draft, i think it shows that at the very least our draft department is smart and top notch. It looks like they are doing pretty good if they though McNabb was a top 2nd rounder and were jumping with joy that he fell into the 3rd. Its nice to know no matter what happens tomorrow I think the sabres will get a player of value due to the fact they seem to have a figured out a good way to rank guys and also the Sabres Combine showed them 35 guys and the skill set they have.

My advice to you would be to concentrate on your job the next 2 hours rather than post incoherently here during that time as losing your job the same week you lost your fiance would be a real kick in the pants. (That probably comes across harsher than it was meant.)
