james duncan Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 I found it entertaining to watch that assclown EJ Hradek and Deb Placey sidestep every question I saw them get on the hit and non-suspension of Richards. NHL schills. Way to send a mixed-message Bettman and crew yet again.

james duncan Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Comcast owned the Flyers before they owned NBC, and before NBC rented the NHL for 1 Billion for 10 years:) You're right. We're doomed.
X. Benedict Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 You're right. We're doomed. Once you know you are doomed, the pressure is totally off and you are free to play your best and win.
BuffalOhio Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 If Richards didn't throw up his elbow, Kaleta would have been called for boarding. And the hockey world would be calling for his supension too. Granted the hit on Connolly was way late, it's almost a wash, cept for now Connolly can't play game 7. But it's not like Richards and Connolly have been big factors of this series anyway. Really? Richards assisted on goals 4 and 5 yesterday. No big factor you say? He should have been watching from the press box at that point.
Sweez Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Really? Richards assisted on goals 4 and 5 yesterday. No big factor you say? He should have been watching from the press box at that point. yeah and zero goals in 6 games for a captain of a high powered offense, not impressive
deluca67 Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I'm glad Richards will be on the ice for Game Seven. If the Sabres want him punished for the hit on Connolly they should do it themselves by making him watch their celebration after a Game Seven victory.
Eleven Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I'm curious if the Sabres will care next season. At this point it appears likely that TC has played his last game as a Sabre -- it will be interesting to see if the team shows their respect for him by getting some form of retribution on Richards next season, or if we just never hear about it again. See the fixed part. And the team will remember.
Stormin Norman Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Connolly was like a boxer backing into the ropes. He put himself there and was well aware of Richards and the possible consequences. That is how the league views it. The play wasn't initiated as blindside. Connolly sees Richards charging at him and turns into the boards. Richards actually starts hauling him down as a hold from his front shoulder, then the dangerous part is he followed through from behind. If Connolly was battling with another player in the corner with his head burried, facing the boards and Richards sends him in head first....you bet he would be suspended. I understand hating him right now, but again, you keep calling for every play to be a suspension and this league is going to grind to a halt. Scrape the crap out of your eyes or take off the clown glasses. Could you be that much of an apologist for dirt bag cheap shot artists or are you just intentionally stirring stuff up? It was a drive-by vicious cheap shot. And what do you call Richards elbow to Kaleta's face - a modern dance? For the love of.....!!
LGR4GM Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I hope myers pulls a campbell and umburgers richard's ass.

Tyrannustyrannus Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I hope the Sabres go up 8-0 in the second and spend the third period trying to end Richards' career. They should remind the NHL why they need supplemental discipline so the players don't take matters into their own hands, right? Clown shoes.
stenbaro Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 This is unfortunate...not only for us, as Sabres fans, but on a whole as far as the league is concerned. I agree with Miller, this is exactly the type of hit that they have been trying to "crack down" on and remove from the game. It was unnecessary, careless, and just plain stupid. Mike Richards has not only one, but two plays in this series that have been deliberate towards hurting another player. Talk about getting away with murder... Or Boyes...it's not like he's doing anything else. I wonder this, too. I mean, I hate to be the one to whine about refs and whine about the ballwashing that goes on towards the other team everytime the Sabres are on national tv, and whine about missed calls and etc etc. But really it's ###### like this that just smacks you in the face and reminds you that you're a Sabres fan and therefor you don't matter to the NHL. pretty typical...... If Richards runs Sydney Crosby however....... I'm pissed but not surprised. He definitely should have been suspended, especially after specifically pointing out that their team was going to target Vanek and Connolly. I can't stand the way discipline is handed out on such a subjective basis. This Crap has been the mantra of the NHL for its existence. It holds up the Rules when it benefits the league and thats it..It should change its name to WWHL World Wrestling Hockey League
tulax Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Certainly not a surprise. I have no idea what warrents a suspension anymore so I can't say whether I thought that this would. Unless a disciplinary committee, rather than a head of discipline, is put in place to judge these hits as a collective group rather than one mans opinion we will never truly be able to make an educated guess. The only certainty is that unless NBC/Versus are able to make a dent in the national sports media, hits like this will be the only sustainable national conversation about hockey. However I wouldn't expect that to change, in this particular case, as Comcast, now the owner of NBC Universal, is paying for Mike Richards' contract (see the Form 10K and do a search for "purchase commitments"). The Sabres have a great opportunity to get back at Richards and the Flyers on the scoreboard and by knocking them out of the postseason. No reason to play like fools and try to injure Flyers for the sake of sending the message. As an aside, the biggest embarassment here is Ed Snider. To suggest that a coach asking the league to look at a questionable play where a player may have ended up being severly injured is "whining" is repulsive. I live in Philadelphia and find the overall fanbase to be extremely passionate and all in all hospitable (for the most part). Sure there are some morons here that give the city's fans a bad reputation when the make asinine comments that completely cross the line and show no cognitive processing. It's a shame that one of those people acting moronic is the chairman of the company that owns the team. This flies on both sides for me: if Lindy Ruff makes the whining comment after Danny Briere, or any other Flyer, is lying face down on the ice then I would lose a lot of respect for Lindy.
drnkirishone Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 The sabres will not get a chance to do a damn thing to scumbag number 1. If either team is blowing out the other Richards will be on the bench. No way a coach allows there Captain and one of there best forwards to risk being injured in a pointless period or 2. Also I am completly unsurprised at the NHL. Richards is one of the protected stars in the game he would have to kill a player on the ice to be suspended for a elimination game. What does piss me off is the history of him and the talk prior to game 5 about targeting certain sabres and then following thru with it. I hope come next season someone sucker punches him and breaks a few bones in his face
sabresnutinphoenix Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 If we lose tomorrow, then knock out one of their guys...
TheFunPolice Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Vanek is just going to have to slap Richards silly out there.... It has come to this... They've tried to run the wrong man.
stenbaro Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 If we lose tomorrow, then knock out one of their guys... Id take one out early in the game...
Freeezo Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I hope the Sabres go up 8-0 in the second and spend the third period trying to end Richards' career. Guest Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 No matter who wins the game tomorrow (God please let it be the Sabres) I can't wait to see the handshakes afterward. That's when you take a cheap shot at the POS. Or just skate right by him and don't give him any respect. Here's another idea, start Enroth in goal and as soon as Richards gets near the net have Jhonas give him a two hander with that heavy ass goalie stick right across the ankles. Another nice thing to see would be one of the Sabres take a nice hard whack to Prongers hand when that scumbag is out there as well. FTF!!! NHL is a joke.
Kristian Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Vanek is just going to have to slap Richards silly out there.... It has come to this... They've tried to run the wrong man. Don't say that, I fully expect Pronger to slash Vanek to pieces on the first Buffalo PP.
TheFunPolice Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 Don't say that, I fully expect Pronger to slash Vanek to pieces on the first Buffalo PP. Have some faith in Thomas! He's kept his seething rage at bay for years now, but if Pronger wants to get himself ko-ed by #26 in front of his home fans then that's his choice..... Let's go Sabres!
thesportsbuff Posted April 26, 2011 Author Report Posted April 26, 2011 I would almost be shocked if Pronger plays tomorrow. He was completely useless in Game 6.
Kristian Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I would almost be shocked if Pronger plays tomorrow. He was completely useless in Game 6. Yeah he was, which only makes that stupid, unnecessary loss sting that much more.
dEnnis the Menace Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 yeah and zero goals in 6 games for a captain of a high powered offense, not impressive Yeah zero goals, but his forechecking is setting up goals, which is his game. Like said before, he set up both the 4th and 5th goals in GM 6. :death: On a scale of Pee Wee to Soupy on Umberger, I hope someone Campbells him through a board.
