Marvelo Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 bottom line is our d-men get the yips and make unforced mistakes in their own zone, the offense doesn't have enough defensive responsibility and when you get right down to it, the team is not playing with passion when it matters most. They've been playing like losing was a forgone conclusion after game 6. I pin alot of it on Ruff's coaching and he should have told Kaleta to ram Briere through the boards, not bench him. I think Ruff's leadership is suspect, he doesn't push the right buttons at crunch time and some of these guys like Stafford and Boyes have completely disappeared from the scoresheet.
SabreInFla Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 All this talk about "7" before the game, how about our "7" million dollar man. Where is he in the biggest game of the season? Come on man. This is a total team collapse. Blaming Vanek is silly. Should he be taking shots on goal from center ice?...... Sure as hell isn't getting any time with the puck in the zone.
DFITZ1 Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Hahaha hey @ssholes i like connolly, u all got proved wrong, hows that pk doing? Or the pp, wait! Faceoffs too, ur all wrong Trouble is, he's a part time player with a full time paycheck. Too many giveaways. Ineffective offensively in the playoffs. We need an upgrade.
mrm33064 Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Maybe they'll come out for the third in the Mighty Ducks sweaters Maybe change our helmet color? Joe Ferguson always liked that idea.
ThePebble19 Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Maybe they'll come out for the third in the Mighty Ducks sweaters Lol. I actually thought the same thing earlier. Nieds with the triple deke FTW in OT.
EZBills7 Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 The effort is so disappointing. Who seems to actually give a damn out there besides Miller, Gerbe, Goose, and Myers? If you're going to lose, go down swinging.
bunomatic Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Sabres will battle. They didn't make the playoffs if their instinct was to quit. They just aren't playing smart yet tonight. Gotta watch, though. It's the end of sports in Buffalo for awhile. I will say, I predict that Buffalo gets a PP goal to start the 3rd and gets another one before the 12 minute mark, the Flyers will start to panic, and then anything can happen. I live in Philadelphia, and I can't stand it when the Flyers do well. The media coverage is brutal. There's a smugness that I've never seen in other teams' broadcasts (seen via NHL Center Ice). I lived in NYC for the Islanders and Rangers series' back in '07, and their coverage was much better. Flyer fans are a whole other story. Thats what happens when you're used to winning. It must be a nice feeling.
Dave Dryden Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Exactly. This is a 7 game series because the Flyers have been through 4 goalie changes, not because the Sabres have played with them, barring perhaps game 2. The Flyers are the better team. Nothing more to say. We've gone as far as we can with inferior talent. Hopefully Pegula will help to improve the talent.
X. Benedict Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 This third could get ugly.....Sabres have to gamble.......
JohnRobertEichel Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Time to switch to Bills mode, we get to pick a high priced dud with the third pick, then wait to see if the season is even played. Oh the joyous life of a Buffalo sports fan. That's why I love the Bandits. Aside from the fact that I like lacrosse, they are often a nice relief from the dismal reality that comes from being a Sabres and Bills fan. Unlike those two, the Bandits actually have a culture of winning. Winning sure is a good feeling. I "get" Charlie Sheen now. I really do.
Iron Crotch Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Lol. I actually thought the same thing earlier. Nieds with the triple deke FTW in OT. You think we might try to run the 'Flying V' in the Third?
frisky Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Definitely a talent deficiency. Reminds me of the Hasek years. Well 20 more minutes until september.
plenzmd1 Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 Do we see richards on the ice unless it becomes 3-2?
ofiba Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 This third could get ugly.....Sabres have to gamble....... Yikes. Are you saying we haven't already been watching "ugly"?
MichFan Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 We have to be able to pass the puck past our own blue line for him to get the puck. So true. Buffalo is just overwhelmed and making too many unforced errors (in addition to all the forced errors). Can't coach around players who buckle under the spotlight.

Punch Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 The Sabres have scored 3 in a period 3 times this series... Philly will definitely be battening down the hatches, right? The Sabres have excelled when that has happened, and I'm sure Philly is relaxing with Boucher's play tonight... but he's still Boucher. What else are you doing tonight? M.A.S.H. to tie it up in the 3rd!

It just doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter...
Braedon Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 We need at least a center too. We need a number of pieces. Defense remains at the top of my list.

Raelity Posted April 27, 2011 Report Posted April 27, 2011 This third could get ugly.....Sabres have to gamble....... just did - damn
