spndnchz Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Multiple source say that it is NOT an achilles tendon cut. We need all the guys we can, hope he gets back.
BuffaloBill Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 It must be pretty bad though. Reports indicated he was in a great deal of pain.
carpandean Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 It must be pretty bad though. Reports indicated he was in a great deal of pain. Even if it just sliced a couple of inches of skin, that would hurt a lot.
Onceagain Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 the way the skates are with the heel, it would be almost impossible to "slice" through the achilles tendon. The location of the cut sounds more like soft tissue/gastroc (calf muscle).
WowieHousley Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 TSN reports he had a full cast from calf to boot when he left (nhl.com). It's probably not an Achilles, but that doesn't sound good.
Ohiofan Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 That's very good news. As the mother of 2 ballet dancers, I know how horrific an achilles injury can be. Very difficult to come back from. I wish we knew for sure. These secretive "upper-body" "lower-body" injury updates are frustrating for us fans. I sure do hope Pommers is ok.

It looks like a possible laceration to the peroneal tendon.

This is what I saw. Everyone keeps saying the back of his leg...but you are right. I'm sure the skate sliced along the side of his lower leg. Maybe it's a camera angle thing...but a laceration to any tendon is a serious injury.

If it was his peroneal, that would support the report he was in a boot going to the bus. The tendon needs to be supported to prevent any further damage. Its not the most vital tendon but a laceration would most likely end his year. Career-wise, much better than an achilles. He would not have been able to skate with an achilles rupture anyway. Youll notice he took a few strides before he realized. Id say deep laceration/ possible peroneal tear. Out for a while.

I'm going to agree with you. The location of the cut as the TV replay showed it would indicate this. Oh well, just more adversity for this team to overcome. We seem to breath it.
spndnchz Posted April 23, 2011 Author Report Posted April 23, 2011 makes DR look like a genius picking up Boyes.
Insomniac Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Maybe the boot was just done as a precautionary measure? Just grasping at straws here but yah.
Marvelo Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Anyone see the replay of the injury? Could it be the guy checking Pominville (Van Remsdyk?) purposely had a kicking motion when going into the corner?

Could it be the guy checking Pominville (Van Remsdyk?) purposely had a kicking motion when going into the corner? No. Hopefully Roy is as close as the reporters are saying and he can dress tomorrow. We need him now.
Eleven Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 He was leading the team in postseason points until yesterday. Dammit.
Miss_The_Amerks Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 No. Hopefully Roy is as close as the reporters are saying and he can dress tomorrow. We need him now. Thank you. And I do too. I really miss having Roy around. Hopefully he'll be a decent replacement for Poms IF (optimism) he missed games. Also, I feel like if we put him on a line with some of the guys who have been less than productive offensively *cough, Staff cough cough Timmy cough* I would hope that they step it up a bit to help him bang the rust off. Don't think it will happen, but we can dream.
nfreeman Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 He was leading the team in postseason points until yesterday. Dammit. Wasn't it gragnani?
Eleven Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Wasn't it gragnani? It is now. Maybe they were tied for the lead with 4. In any event, Pominville was contributing bigtime.
sjb012 Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 It is now. Maybe they were tied for the lead with 4. In any event, Pominville was contributing bigtime. We've got guys who can step in. Hopefully Roy is ready to go but if not, I have a lot of faith in Mancari too. Reunite our best line the last two months of the year Mancari-Goose-Gerbs.

Miss_The_Amerks Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 This team is bereft of centers and you're gonna put 2 on 1 line? I was using them as examples. My B. Not even the same line. I just feel like his return should start a fire, in the good way.
tom webster Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 This team is bereft of centers and you're gonna put 2 on 1 line? Bereft. Nice.
JohnRobertEichel Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 I'll safely assume Pominville is out for the rest of the playoffs. So what about Hecht? When is he expected to return? If we can get just 1 of either Roy or Hecht tomorrow, then Mancari can stay on the bench and Boyes can take Pominville's spot at RW.
