26CornerBlitz Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 As bad as Nieds was in the 1st half of the regular season....The guy is paying huge dividends in the series. His setup of Pominville for the only goal of game four was a thing of beauty. Last night, he was key in The Ennis OT winner with his keep in at the Blue line. Two huge series changing plays from this guy!!! Looks like Darcy made a good move with this acquisition after all. Kudos!!! :clapping:

donteatyellowsnow Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 The playoffs are why he's here, Grier too to a lesser extent. The hard part was getting there, but once they got there look out!
SabresFan526 Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Niedermeyer has taken his game to another level. He's been fantastic during the playoffs. He's been going to the net hard, strong on the puck, very sound defensively. His game has been excellent. This is exactly why the Sabres signed him.

It kind of makes me feel guilty for how I dumped on him in the regular season but it was hard to find any good in his game. Now he's playing like a true leader and its rubbing off. The kids need it.
sjb012 Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Thank you Rob Neidermayer! Another great performance last night. This guy is a penalty killing beast all of a sudden. He's a load in the corners, the Flyers D can't knock him off the puck. And any time he is on the ice and Goose is getting booted on the draws, he is stepping in and winning his share. I love this guy right now. P.S It felt awesome to be in a Maryland bar last night rockin' the Ennis jersey in a crowd of Sabres fans, Flyers fans but mostly, Caps fans. Getting a little taste kids, he is steppin up!
X. Benedict Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Niedermayer was as responsible for the game winner as anyone. He held the point on the zone and made a nifty flip to Monty. Monty > Weber > Leighton coughs > Ennis buries. Neidermayer started the play. :clapping:
samothyev Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 I really hope he can keep this up! All I can think about is Doug Gilmore chasing Kasperitis(sp?) down the ice against Pitt some years ago... LET'S GO BUFFALO!!!!!!!
Saudi Arabia Rob Posted April 23, 2011 Report Posted April 23, 2011 Neidermeyer's been their best forward in the series.
Miss_The_Amerks Posted April 24, 2011 Report Posted April 24, 2011 Neidermeyer's been their best forward in the series. I'd agree. I've never been a nay-sayer with Neids, although at times I forget he still plays.

Kudos!!! :clapping: Yes, Niedermeyer has been tremendous in the playoffs for us, as has Grier, who has been hitting everything in sight. Perhaps at 36, Niedermeyer knew he had to dial down his play a notch in the regular season to be able to give it everything he's got for the playoffs, because he has been invaluable during the past 5 games, and really down the stretch run as well...He might have made 2 of the biggest plays of the series so far...His perfect cross crease pass to Pominville for the only goal in game 4, and his key keep in at the point and nice pass to Montador in OT which led to the shot from Weber and the goal from Ennis. Some people just find a way to be play better than their talent level would dictate and are able to raise the game of their teammates during the playoffs, and Niedermayer certainly fits into this category...
TheChimp Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Neidermeyer will make me miss Grier less next season.
Calvin Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Neidermeyer will make me miss Grier less next season. who knew Nieds could shoot! loved his goal yest!
WNYbacker Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Neidermeyer will make me miss Grier less next season. i doubt neidermayer is even back next year cause roster spots are needed for other players like kassian. it is a shame that he has been one of our best players this postseason when there are other guys that sould be stepping up. also but dont forget that he was one of our worst player during the entire regular season; i would much rather have grier for both reg/post season
Knightrider Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 And now he's our #1 center. :wallbash: Thanks for that reminder. :death: He has been great this series, though.
RazielSabre Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I read something about how he was going to be key for us in the playoffs and I wasn't sold, but I'm really glad his hear now.
apuszczalowski Posted April 26, 2011 Report Posted April 26, 2011 I would take him back next year if they can work out an agreement where he only comes in for the playoffs
