He sucks. Has so much potential. It's obvious he just collecting a paycheck. Now I hope he lites the lamp tonight to prove me wrong. Even if he does I still say he sucks!!!

You do know Tyler Myers had twice as many giveaways in the regular season as Connolly, right? And that Montador, Sekera, Leopold, and Vanek all had more? And that Weber had as many with 10 fewer games?

Further, Connolly's been credited with 1 giveaway so far in the playoffs. Twelve others on the team have been credited for more, up to a high of 4 by Myers and Pominville.

point...

Do they have stats on how many more times Tyler handled the puck then Timmy? Because I bet its a lot more times.

counter point...

Well, that shows you how wrong those stats are. He had more than one clear giveaway last game (maybe even on the 5 minute major), much less in the series. Now, perhaps all players are adjusted down equally, but he's certainly had more than 1.

For the record, though, I am a little tired of Vanek's drag through move when going one-on-one. It worked a couple of times for highlight reel goals early in the season and he's been trying it will little success every time since. He needs to mix it up to get that surprise factor back.

point...

This message board has never been better... Keep it up folks...

hahaha first complaint!

Maybe because I am new? This has been a topic that has been bothering me for sometime. I did try searching as much as I could, but a lot of the info on Timmy was from awhile back. My apologies if this was not forum worthy. However everyones input is greatly appreciated.

TC is like the 3rd baseman in the movie Major League. Has his contract, just needs to show up, doesn't want to risk getting injured anymore. Our best hope is that Gerbe becomes our Wild Thing, sleeps with TC's wife, and brings out the '06 playoffs form for TC.

Where would this series stand without TC on the PK? Forget the contrc ct that will expire soon, assume he won't score, and be thankful we've got him killing penalties. There have been enough of them.

I'm fine with him playing the PK while he is still with the team - but get him off the PP! Stop having him lead the forwards in ice time!

This will happen when we stop taking penalties.

You know what you call an offenseman who is only good on the PK?

A defenseman...

You know what you call an offenseman who make's ~$4.5m a year but cant play offense?

Overpaid...

....I know it is vogue to hate on the guy, but for balance, it may be helpful to notice, he's leading the series in faceoffs won, has not taken a minor (on a team that has a parade of minors), leads forwards in the series in blocked shots, and he's been playing the kill with demon possession.

for a guy who has never been a goal scorer, and may never recapture his offensive vision, he's sure laying it out there.

Regardless of his paycheck, he's gone, what, 27 playoff games without a goal now? That is equivalent to over 1/4 of a regular season. And it's all been crunch time. So he's a defensive specialist now. Big fat hairy deal. Would any of us be happy with a checking line center that had 0 goals over 27 games in the regular season? And especially no goals during the most crucial of times? No fracking way in my case. He's a forward. Even forwards with heavy defensive responsibilities are supposed to put the puck in the net every once in awhile.

He's here now and we need him. But if he's still here next season I'll be really, really disappointed.

For a guy who has never had a 20 goal season. (I least I can't remember one) He sure gets a lot of attention for not scoring goals.

He's a forward. He ought to be good for at least 3-5 over a 27 game stretch. I haven't look at his teammates stats during that period but I can't imagine he has much company as <3 goal scorer in 27 playoff games.

Not sure I understand... The guy who cant score gets attention for not scoring..? That surprises you?

Dude... I have been on the flybridge of a stage for the past 4 hours, and will be for another 10. I need some reading material, please and thanks.

What show and where?

Any goal Tim Connolly scores will be a bonus. (I guess you are probably including the 2007 year when he played in the playoffs but not the regular season)

He's spent about a third of his ice time in the series on the kill.

He probably killed almost 5 minutes last night.

Any observation of his gameplay seems to be informed by goal scoring (which he's never really done) and his contract...which doesn't matter one bit in post-season.

I don't care who scores the goals as long as the team is doing the things necessary to win. And so far, he's been doing the things necessary to win.

I guess it come down to whether you think someone can play well and not score goals.

Public Service Message: Tim Connolly is not going to suddenly become a goal scorer this post season. Nor will he become a goaltender, a fighter, the teams inspirational speech-maker, nor is he likely to manage a smile beyond a odd kind of facial palsy.

But if he continues to play as he has been ...it is just what the team needs.
