It's a young defense....but that was the nastiest game Myers has played. It's good to see that Weber, Butler, Myers, have a nasty switch.

Loved how Myers cleared the crease near the end of the game like the Flyers were bowling pins.

It's still worth pointing out that Myers is 21 and the youngest defenseman on the team. Imagine what he'll be like in a couple years, or a couple years after that. Pegula will have to pay to build a morgue in the HSBC Library.

I recall an interview last year with Tyler Myers' father. He made a comment indicating that Tyler did have a mean streak and that he really used it in the WHL his last season. He said it took a year or two to show. And he said that as soon as Tyler got comfortable he was positive that it would start to come out at the NHL level too.

I didn't really buy it at the time. Tyler seemed so passive. I guess I should've believed dear old dad.

i'm delighted with what he's shown and giddy about what the future holds for him.

and while i don't expect myers to play with this level of ferocity throughout the regular season -- i don't think that such play can be sustained** -- we can expect him to add this dimension to his game on a nightly basis.

Good stuff. I always thought Tyler would get there, but with Butler and Weber showing grit, it doesn't have to fall on one guy.

Talinder, as competant as he was, never really had that kind of edge. s

Lydman, I always thought was willing, but it was never a natural at it. He never knew how to play on the edge.

There has to be a price to pay for going to net in playoff hockey - so I like what I'm seeing.

It's like Niedermayer; that dude has put on his playoff skin and it's somewhat amazing to see. The difference between regular season and the playoffs is stark. He must have been conserving energy all season long.

What's really crazy about Niedermayer, is that if you watch him skate, he hardly moves in his own zone.

He just seems to know where to go, and then just parks himself there.

At this point, I'll say that even if we lose this series, at least we're going down swinging.

All you can ask of anyone is their best, and that applies to a heckuva lot more players this year than last year.

Unfortunately, Stafford and Connolly still haven't figured it out, but at least Lindy stuffed them on the same line, hopefully reducing Sabres amount of wasted shifts by 50%.

Not picking on you K, just using the post to exclaim, for all you early season Nieder-haters, this is why Lindy and Company want grizzled old vets. This guy will almost certainly be a Sabre next year if he wants it.

No offense taken, and might I add that even though I wasn't a Niedermayer stalwart, there are definitely players on this team I think are way bigger issues than he ever was.

Totally agreed on Connolly, but I think I've liked Stafford since the last 25% of the season. He's used his size nicely (not in terms of throwing it around, but little things like body position in the corners) and it looks like he's believing in himself in the offensive zone. He could certainly use a bit more grit though.

Without looking it up...Roy, Pominville, Vanek, Connolly Miller, Goose, Grier, maybe Kaleta's rookie year too? That's all I can think of.

Kaleta was definitely on that team because he was in the big Ottawa brawl.

Briere parody song by Nick Mendola of Weck 1230

love and miss mendola. i can never find him on weck. this daniel parody is solid. i'm trying to recall what mendola did when we last played the flyers in the playoffs -- the year that esche was in net (something about how esche is going to poop his pants).

I'd have to agree. Butler was nasty as well Loved it that the boys weren't taking any ######.

Add Hecht and Stafford as well. Kaleta was definitely on the team at least part of the time.
