good times, love that philly couldnt give miller the star, hope it makes us realize we are getting to them.

Myers was a force! He hit crap, had a very active hockey stick, and was in all the right places.

Weber is showing his grit and ability to hit things.

Gerbe was an animal there at the end running around and slowing everyone down, not to mention that gerbs was majorily responsible for holding that puck in the zone that lead to kaletas goal.

Good work tonight boys, keep it up! LETS GO BUFFALO!

A couple of interesting stats:

(1) 26:04 of ice time for Butler

(2) 5 hits for Grier, 5 hits for Kaleta (+ a goal, of course)

Some "unsung" guys stepped up tonight for sure.

1 JVR

2 Miller

3 Myers

JVR #1?...LOL

So the 3 stars they announce on MSG are different than at the rink? They had Miller, Kaleta & Bobo

I think one of the best takeaways from tonight is that Philly has to still be questioning who they have in net. It would be a whole nother story if Buffalo came in there and blew up the Philly net with 35+ SOG and 3+ goals. However, since we were able to pull out a win with only one goal and a meager 25 SOG.... they still have no fuggin idea if Bobo is ready to rock or not. I love it ... I think it's the best possible outcome. All that anxiety that Briere displayed in his WGR550 interview regarding Bobo is still untested .... excellent. Now, if our big time producers get some room to breathe in the coming games we know it will still be against Bobo who I think we can beat rather easily.

The teams have met eight times in the postseason and the Game 1 winner won the series each time. Snipped from:My link

I know...RJ or Harry said that during the game. I was crushed when they did, it kinda felt like the whole "five minutes to a shut-out" gaffe

I don't like Peter Laviolette's heavily moosed hair.

Too bad ... I've heard rumblings of Laviolette's Heavily Moosed Hair winning first star of the night in Saturday's game...

I thought the only Sabre with a genuinely awful game was Montador. There were a lot of Sabres with a solid game tonight.

I don't know how genuine it was, but it sure was AWFUL...

thought for sure he'd come out in an orange jersey to start the 3rd.

To his credit, he did play a decent last period.

He should be getting more credit for this thats for sure, but he had the guys doing a lot of the little things right tonight..........

Particularly, I thought Boyes and Connolly had a lot of trouble carrying through the neutral zone as well as across the blue line. Vanek went unnoticed.

I thought that offensively, we just couldn't get anything going, until the last ten minutes. The attack time during the final ten minutes really made me happy.

Miller really seems focused. I didn't feel the same way last year (post-Olympics).

That final PK was just outstanding!

The Kaleta fist shake!!!! Great to have him back. That line of Goose-Kaleta-Gerbe always seems so awkward, but if it works...

I think you have a point what this proved was that Bobo will think he has to be PERFECT to win and that might break him a little. We need better offensive zone pressure but I think we can work on that. Glad we won, but 15 more to go... Time to focus on Saturday.

Just a great game, defensively. Offensively, I want to see a little more.

Monty: What the hell you were thinking when you hauled down Briere, I'll never know. Your other penalty was questionable. Get it together, though, or GTFO.

Miller: Thanks, bud. Awesome. Some of us knew why you're still here. More of us know it now.

Gerbe: If you last three years in this league, I'll be surprised. Not because I don't think you have the talent, but because I think some Flyer will maim you for life. But damn, do you play one hell of a hockey game.

Butler: Welcome to your first taste of greatness. Keep drinking it.

Connolly (why did I think of him next?): Freaking awesome in your own end again, and on the 5-on-3 again. I don't know what happened to you, but keep it up.

Stafford: Why is it that when one of the 19/21 pair does well, the other must suck? I saw two passes that were two feet off of your stick, and you did nothing to grab either. Both in the offensive zone. Both were scooped up by Filly players. What the hell is the matter with you? Either could have been a goal. Or both.

Gaustad: You were a freaking madman tonight. Keep it up.

Kaleta: I doubted that you belonged in the playoff lineup. I kinda still do, but I'll definitely give you full credit for a freaking awesome forechecking game tonight. Oh, and that goal thing. You keep that up and stop the Avery-esque stuff, and I'll want you here forever.

Rest of Buffalo D (including forwards playing D): Solid, solid game.

Rest of Buffalo O (including defensemen playing O): More forechecking. And that goal--that's the thing with the red pipes. Put pucks on it. Sideshow Bob isn't that good. 25 shots is not nearly enough, even if it was tonight.

Good stuff. I would add that Grier made some bone-crunching hits. There are going to be some Philly ears ringing to tomorrow morning.

Maybe T-Pegs found a bottle of lightning that TG left behind in a secret vault at HSBC after the ownership change and decided to give it to him.

Bone crunching is an understatement.

Grier made it known that his game is the clutch style. I was starting to doubt him in the regular season, but if he keeps that type of game up, it'll be a momentum line.

Wow, that was a long 12+ minutes.

Both offenses were weaker than I expected, which means that Philly's was OK and Buffalo's was pretty ineffective. Yet, somehow they found a way to win. Big story of tonight will be the Flyers' inability to convert on the PP. If we negate theirs and don't get too many of our own (yes, I fear the shorties), we should have a good chance in this series.
