Roy's Return?

I like that they group Pommer in with the guys who aren't producing. The man has 3 points in 4 games with a GWG. Take him out and Boyes, Connoly, Stafford and Ennis have 1 goal and 4 assists between them.

Dude on WGR today was saying he hopes Roy has played his last game as a Sabre. lol

Yeah. I think I heard a lighter flick and glass break while he was on the phone.

I hope so too. I think he would a perfect fit as a Flyer.

Okay, I guess the thread exists: I'm not a Roy fan, at all. It's pretty clear this team has done better without him, if you want to believe there's a correlation between his absence and the team's success.

But, the Sabres desperately need a talented center. If they make it past Philly, and Roy comes back, then I have hope for them going deeper than two rounds. Getting Roy back for the second round would be a huge gift from the Hockey Gods, at least the way it appears on paper.

I'll worry about next season when the Sabre's season is over.

I don't know how you can say Connolly is a "lazy slacker" after the past four months of being the team's best PKer, leading shot-blocking forward, staple on the PP... all after literally breaking his face. You did watch the games, right?

Then put him back on the blue line and make him play D. Cuz he sure doesn't produce O.

I'm only half joking, too. Scotty Bowman did that with Sergei Federov for most of a season and it did make him a much better player all around.

I want him back so bad, even if he doesn't score, just to create a spark for everyone else...

What does that mean, a spark for everyone else? We are 2-2 in a very hard, becoming bitter playoff series where we are playing our ###### off.....

I can't see Roy coming back this series(based on the reports I have seen), but if he can make it back for the next round, he would be a welcome addition regardless of those who believe there is some correlation between Roy being out and the Sabres having more success.

When Roy and Hecht come back after this series, Buffalo can afford to scratch their Grit guys that are beating up on Philadelphia right now because we'll have to have lots of scoring depth for the Capitals. It works out perfectly for us.

Paul Hamilton makes it sound like Roy does everything at practice that all the other players do. I keep thinking this means that he'll be back for the first game we play after the Flyers win a third game this series. (Hopefully they won't, but that's just my guess.)

Meh. We've played well as a team, but still have guys that aren't producing. 2 goals per game isn't amazing. I really would like to see more offense...

With Pominville's injury tonight and considering it looks like a very serious injury, I have a gut feeling we'll see Roy out there on Sunday afternoon centering McCormick and Grier. If he can do battle drills tomorrow, it might not be a bad idea to have Roy out there to center the 4th line, get some PK and PP time and play about 10-12 minutes on Sunday if he's ready to go.

It's really too bad to see that injury to Pominville. He's actually played well this series and has been a stalwart on the PK that's been so tremendous this series.

If Roy is that close to playing I don't see why he wouldn't just play Game 6. Either way someone has to come in -- if it's about chemistry, I would be more worried about inserting Ellis than inserting Roy. And if it's about conditioning... how much is one more day going to help?

And in this case, I agree - If you're going to insert someone it might as well be Roy... IF he's ready to go.

Well TBN says he'll play Game 7 if it goes that far. Why not play him Game 6? They should be treating Game 6 like a Game 7.

He won't necessarily ready tomorrow just because he will be ready Tuesday.

I don't know the process you have to follow to return from injury but I don't buy that one more day is going to make a difference, considering he's been skating and practicing anyway. I mean, putting Roy in over Ellis could be the difference between winning the series in Game 6 or losing it in Game 7.

By that logic, if he's ready for Game 6, he would have been ready for Game 5.

If he were ready for Game 5, he would have been ready by Game 4.

If he were ready for Game 4 ...

There's a threshold. When he crosses it, he'll play. Maybe it will be tomorrow after all.
