Derrico Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Here are the matchups: Capitals - Rangers Flyers - Sabres Bruins - Canadiens Penguins - Lightning Canucks - Blackhawks/Stars Sharks - Kings Red Wings - Coyotes Ducks - Predators My picks are: Caps - 5 Sabres - 6 Bruins - 6 Pens - 5 Hawks - 7 (if Dallas gets in, Nucks in 6) Sharks - 5 Wings - 6 Preds - 6 Without Crosby this is going to be a VERY close and compelling series IMO. Actually, most of the series have a bit of intrigue to them especially in the east.
Weave Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Here are the matchups: Capitals - Rangers (1-2-1) Flyers - Sabres (2-1-1) Bruins - Canadiens (2-3-1) Penguins - Lightning (2-2-0) Canucks - Blackhawks/Stars (2-1-1; 4-0-0) Sharks - Kings (3-1-2) Red Wings - Coyotes (1-2-1 win in OT) Ducks - Predators (1-3-0) All of those series in the East look tough to me. I don't think the higher seeds have big advantages over the lower seeds in any of them. The East is going to be a dogfight every round. Whoever meets the West in the finals is going to be running on fumes. Caps in 6 I can't predict Phi/Buf Bruins in 6 Pens in 6 if Crosby doesn't play, Pens in 5 if he does Van in 4 vs Dal, Van in 6 vs Chi SJ in 7 Det in 6 Ana in 6
OverPowerYou Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 My picks: EAST Capitals in 7 Flyers in 6 Bruins in 7 Penguins in 5 WEST Canucks in 6 (over Dal/Chi) Sharks in 5 Coyotes 6 Ducks in 7
frissonic Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Here are the matchups: Capitals - Rangers (1-2-1) Flyers - Sabres (2-1-1) Bruins - Canadiens (2-3-1) Penguins - Lightning (2-2-0) Canucks - Blackhawks/Stars (2-1-1; 4-0-0) Sharks - Kings (3-1-2) Red Wings - Coyotes (1-2-1 win in OT) Ducks - Predators (1-3-0) Picks: Caps in 6 Sabres in 6 (lose first in philly, find their footing in game 2 for a steal. gain confidence and take both home games. go back to philly for a close loss, possibly OT. win in game 6 at home) Bs in 5 Penguins in 6 Canucks in 5 Sharks in 5 I *really* wanna say 'Yotes here, but i'm a realist. gotta go wings in 6 Preds in 7
Eleven Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Sabres over Flyers in 6, then Lightning in 5, then Bruins in 6, then Blackhawks in 5. Sabres in 22.
Derrico Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Sabres over Flyers in 6, then Lightning in 5, then Bruins in 6, then Blackhawks in 5. Sabres in 22. Hahahha, posted this after the Hawks game, gutsy gutsy call. They're a Dallas win away from elimination.
BuffaloSoldier2010 Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Rags in 7 Sabres in 6 B's in 5 Penguins in 5 Canucks in 6 Sharks in 6 Wings in 5 Ducks in 5
biodork Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Summary of the East's first round matchups: http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=558971 Interesting that Pittsburgh and Tampa have never met in the playoffs.
TheMatrix31 Posted April 10, 2011 Report Posted April 10, 2011 Capitals over Rangers in 5 Flyers over Sabres in 7 Bruins over Canadiens in 7 Lightning over Penguins in 6 (if Crosby doesnt play, if he does, then Penguins in 6) Blackhawks over Canucks in 7, or Canucks over Stars in 6 Sharks over Kings in 6 Red Wings over Coyotes in 5 Ducks over Predators in 6

JujuFish Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 I'm usually terrible at predictions. So, I made my own predictions and I also used a random number generator for a second set of predictions, giving advantages based on ROW and goal differential. It'll be interesting to see if I end up worse than my random prediction. I hate who my random prediction chose for the Stanley Cup champion. Mine: 1WAS(4) >--1WAS(4) 8NYR(3) \ >--1WAS(2) 2PHI(2) / \ >--7BUF(2) \ 7BUF(4) \ >--3BOS(2) 3BOS(4) / \ >--3BOS(4) / \ 6MON(3) \ / \ >--3BOS(4) \ 4PIT(4) / \ >--4PIT(3) \ 5TBL(1) \ ------------------------------------------------>--San Jose 1VAN(4) / >--1VAN(4) / 8CHI(3) \ / >--1VAN(3) / 3DET(3) / \ / >--6PHO(1) \ / 6PHO(4) \ / >--2SJS(4) 4ANA(4) / >--4ANA(2) / 5NSH(2) \ / >--2SJS(4) 2SJS(4) / >--2SJS(4) 7LAK(1) Random number prediction: 1WAS(2) >--8NYR(3) 8NYR(4) \ >--2PHI(4) 2PHI(4) / \ >--2PHI(4) \ 7BUF(2) \ >--2PHI(4) 3BOS(4) / \ >--3BOS(4) / \ 6MON(0) \ / \ >--3BOS(3) \ 4PIT(4) / \ >--4PIT(1) \ 5TBL(2) \ ------------------------------------------------>--Philadelphia 1VAN(4) / >--1VAN(4) / 8CHI(2) \ / >--1VAN(0) / 4ANA(0) / \ / >--5NAS(1) \ / 5NSH(4) \ / >--2SJS(1) 3DET(4) / >--3DET(1) / 6PHO(1) \ / >--2SJS(4) 2SJS(4) / >--2SJS(4) 7LAK(2)
Dave Dryden Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 Caps 7 Flyers 6 Bruins 6 Pitt 7 Vancouver 6 Sharks 6 Red Wings 6 Ducks 6 I did not take you for the type to always bet the chalk. Interesting.

That one is clearly broken. :rolleyes:
Eleven Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 So you think Rangers over Caps in Round 1? It's a critical part of the plan.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 I did not take you for the type to always bet the chalk. Interesting. Usually not in a 10 horse race. But head to head, I have a hard time seeing many upsets this year. I think Flyers and Ducks make it, even with goalie questions. The series prices should be out shortly. If Callahan was around I would feel better about NY. The Sabres got the worst draw in my opinion. Line for line, Philly is just a little better all the way down.

I'd predict the same cup winner as you and same team to win the east.
Marvelo Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 both main analysts on the NHL Network picked Philly to repeat as Eastern Conference champs. They say Pronger will make the difference and they're the deepest team in the East...
R_Dudley Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 These are my guesses ; Caps 6 7 games in a toss up, pick from the heart Sabres Bruin 6 Pens 7 Nucks 6 Sharks 5 Wings 7 Preds 7
Stoner Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 It's a critical part of the plan. Washington Schmwashington.
BuffaloFansR_Crazy Posted April 11, 2011 Report Posted April 11, 2011 Capitals - Rangers - Caps in 6 Flyers - Sabres - Flyers in 7 Bruins - Canadiens - Bruins in 6 Penguins - Lightning - Pens in 5 Canucks - Blackhawks - Canucks in 7 Sharks - Kings - Sharks in 6 Red Wings - Coyotes - Wings in 5 Ducks - Predators - Ducks in 7 Besides the Sabres and Philly series, I'm really looking forward to the Boston-Montreal and Vancouver-Chicago series. I really couldn't be happier with the match-ups is the East, all of them have the makings of great series.
