beinganass2u Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 Why is his ice time being limited??? He is exciting to watch and incredible skill What gives Ruffffffff? Look at his stats and compare it to his actual ice time. Don't just look at the size but rather look at all else he brings to the table.

He plays a regular shift and plays on the PP and has been on the ice in the past few games late when protecting the lead. Remember the Habs game and his great play with the EN goal?
vasabresfan Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 The game in Raleigh on Sunday was the first time I saw him play in person. It was interesting to see how small he was in warmups. During the game, I think that he worked harder than anyone on the ice. His hustle really impressed me and convinced me that he is an important part of this team and should be for as long as he's willing to put forth that kind of effort. We'll see if size becomes more of an issue in the playoffs (when teams get more physical and the ice gets a little smaller). On a somewhat related note, I had another observation at the game. I've read on this board in the past how bad of a skater Mancari is. I thought it was exaggeration. It was not. Yikes.
BuffalOhio Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 I love Gerbe's grit and determination. Just makes his skill even more impressive! Watching him chase down the puck carrier when backchecking is a think of beauty! Gooooo Gerbe!
stepped IN zhitnik Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 I'm definitely on board with keeping gerbe as a replacement for roy, I just wish he could play center. Being a tall person I find little advantage to height when playing in front of the net or in the corners.

beinganass2u Posted April 7, 2011 Author Report Posted April 7, 2011 Luv Ennis tooo. I think sometimes but not always we put too much emphasis on size and not on the skill of the player. As a fan I love to watch skilled players that play big!!!! The NHL needs to move towards a faster more exciting product or it will fade into oblivion. Go Sabers Go!!!!

Both players you are talking about play a regular shift and see time on the PP. What is the problem?

EZBills7 Posted April 7, 2011 Report Posted April 7, 2011 There's playing like a small player, and then there's playing with passion and grit regardless of height, and that's a big difference to me from last year's Bruins series to the past few months this season. Sure there is more clutch and grab play allowed in the playoffs, but the way Gerbe and Ennis have been buzzing around the ice with no reservations is something that bigger, slower guys are going to have a tough time with. A lot of times one of those guys gets the puck along one wing and skates around the net and up the other wing, and you rarely see defenders actually trying to chase them. They go into more of a zone defense passing the speedy guy from one defender to the next, all the while allowing another Sabre or two to get open somewhere. I think they will do a good job in the playoffs creating chances and penalties while frustrating the slower defenders.

carpandean Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 that was awesome!!!!!! Kudos to whoever made that! What did we do before YouTube?! I'd love to see one of the rewind kind, where it would show that goal, then stop and rewind to the head pat. "What if Carcillo didn't pet the Gerbe?"
dEnnis the Menace Posted April 15, 2011 Report Posted April 15, 2011 I'd love to see one of the rewind kind, where it would show that goal, then stop a rewind to the head pat. "What if Carcillo didn't pet the Gerbe?" HAHA YES! I liked the one of Max scoring the OT Goal to clinch against the Rangers. It then rewound to Drury's goal with 7.7 left and said "What if Drury didn't have 7.7 seconds?" That one gave me goosebumps. I still like the official May Day one the best though
