NowDoYouBelieve Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 ughh here we go with another pro athlete dissrespecting our city. Yes it's not NYC but there is some things to do despite popular belief. As many have said, who cares? I might be a little bit irked if one of the NHL's stars made a public comment blasting the city. A mediocre defenseman mildly dissing the city shouldn't register a blip on anybody's radar IMO.
wjag Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 "In Buffalo , not the most exciting city , recharging the batteries , about all there is to do here ;) sorry Buffalo people..........." I'm trying to get my mind around on why would anyone follow MAB?
Eleven Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Monday afternoon downtown on a grey dreary day? He's speaking the truth. Man is this city thin skinned. Correct. There's nothing to do on a Monday afternoon anywhere else (other than DC, Manhattan, Chicago, and possibly--I've never been there--LA, either). Nothing to see here, folks; just another twatter on twitter. Why can't a guy shop just like a women would?? He's not allowed to buy some clothes, traveling gear, etc.?? Is that too feminine for you PA?? <_< Correct again. If I'm in another city with an hour to kill during the afternoon, why not shop a bit? Even if it's book and music stores.
darksabre Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Just go to Jims and get some taco in a bag. That's a solid Monday night.
Eleven Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Just go to Jims and get some taco in a bag. That's a solid Monday night. Disgusting. But hopefully, they all do it. That stuff will play with a digestive system for two days.
LET"S GO BUFFALO Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 Does anyone else find that the smiley face he chose to use in the twitter feed produce a larger aura of just what a loser MAB is...i mean if that guy were on my hockey team and I saw this first thing I would say is wow your a tool for being on twitter, second wow your a tool for posting that smiley face...
OverPowerYou Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 When will people realize that the only thing to do in Buffalo is a Bills/Sabres game? That's why we're so crazy about our teams. Get a clue, people, and by people I mean professional athletes.
elcrusho Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 This coming from a guy born in Ile Bizard, Quebec where there are only a few restaurants on the island and various stores and businesses. I'm not disagreeing with him though, this city does suck

Get a clue, people, and by people I mean professional athletes. They never will realize this because it is not a truth capable of realization. There is plenty to do. There is not plenty to do in the business district on a Monday afternoon. Big difference. If I'm in a hotel in, say, Washington, on Washington Circle, and I don't know the city, well, it seems like there's nothing to do on a Monday afternoon there, too. Geez. You get a clue.
LGR4GM Posted April 4, 2011 Report Posted April 4, 2011 how about combining the two?? lol sarcasm... So glad bass pro finally fell through because it would just become another waste of money and waterfront space. Aquarium/museum on the waterfront with a nice harbor area in front of it and within a block of the arena = awesome. I would have gone to the aquarium today just cuz the weather was cruddy. but hey I dont have 100million sitting in a bank account doing nothing now do i... and MAB what would you do anywhere outside of NYC on a monday afternoon? Nothing thats right nothing.

Sorry, I should have put "Caution: Sarcasm included" before my post. I wasn't being 100% serious about that. lol

You'll realize how unique Buffalo is once you're gone for a bit. The grass is always greener for a lot people (usually people who haven't had much exposure). This isn't NYC or LA or Miami. This is the RUSTBELT...that name was given to us for a reason. Buffalo must not suck that much since you're still here.

Well, Buffalo certainly isn't the only NHL city where there isn't much near the arena -- but there are plenty of NHL cities where, if you're staying at a hotel near the arena, you can go for a stroll and come across a number of interesting stores/restaurants/parks/museums/other. And I agree that this didn't need a thread (or even a post).

Two or less Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 I bet it's more hopping then Saint-Louis-de-France, Quebec.
dudacek Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 I can't wait until the day I finally get to go to Buffalo.
bunomatic Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 I bet it's more hopping then Saint-Louis-de-France, Quebec. The most exciting thing to do there is roll over and kiss your sister
neverenough Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 Buffalo is a place with great people, better wings, and a place with lots if you look around...I really enjoyed myself there
Icedus Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 The most exciting thing to do there is roll over and kiss your sister   Having lived in the actual City of Buffalo for quite some time, there's definitely lots of excitement here. Favorite True Buffalonian™ past-times are: -Watching mediocre sports teams and the players that try to enjoy their time here -Deciphering graffiti -Avoiding getting shot and/or mugged in most parts of the city -Going to the zoo -Eating chicken wings -Getting drunk -Whining about the weather -Whining about Albany and/or NYC -Attempting to defend our dying city's image as the "Armpit of America" from holier-than-though out-of-towners everywhere in spite of all of the above

Anyone else want to chip in?
Ohiofan Posted April 5, 2011 Report Posted April 5, 2011 I wonder what the heck he wants to do? He's a pro athlete in town for a game for crying out loud! Does he want to go out and get all schwasted before the game? Jeez...I have travelled all over this country to every kind of city. You can sit in your hotel in Davenport Iowa, Buffalo NY, or Chicago IL, and bi$%h about nothing to do. You are only limited by your mind, and let's face it, pro athletes aren't rocket scientists, for the most part. So he's bored, big deal. Read the paper, watch a movie, go for a swim in the hotel pool. Go somewhere "happenin'" on your vacation in July. Sheesh.

I'll match you. I moved to Northern Virginia 2 years ago, and not a day goes by that I don't miss being in Buffalo. Once my wife's project is finished in 3 years or so we'll likely be moving back... and not a moment too soon.
