[OT] Hockey Card Collectors

Does anybody on here collect hockey cards? I used to collect a little bit when I was younger, but I don't even know where my set is anymore -- probably tossed them out or stashed them away somewhere. I kind of want to start collecting some Sabres player cards, but I have no idea what are the good brands to get. Obviously Upper Deck and Topps, but what are the good "collections" or whatever? Victory, Young Guns... I saw something called "Upper Deck Series 2" and that just totally confused me.

Anybody got some info on what cards I should look into?

Depends on how much you want to spend. If you are just looking to have the cards and get them easily and cheaply than Victory or Upper Deck Collectors Choice are probably the way to go. Upper Deck has the "young guns" rookie cards within the set, the commons from this set are not all that valuable however the Young Guns cards are and therefore will cost more.

The set I enjoy collecting the most is "In the Game - Heroes & Prospects." The set is comprised completely of pre-rookie cards. So cards of players while they're in juniors or the AHL. I find it cool collecting cards, especially the autographed variety, of the Sabres top prospects. Among many other top prospects from other teams my collection includes autographed cards of Ennis, Kassian, Gragnani, Weber & Enroth (currently working on finding a Foligno) and with a little shopping on ebay you can often find them for $5 or less.
