thesportsbuff Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 both times the sabres got ahead in the third Mccrappy called questionable highsticking penalties Am I missing something here? Both penalties were very clear high sticks.
Wyldnwoody44 Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 When one of the most well-respected veteran officials of 1700+ games is honored before his last game ever, I think a handshake is appropriate.. Maybe.....but we're too upset still, so repeat.that comment.in.about an hour : )
MichFan Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 When one of the most well-respected veteran officials of 1700+ games is honored before his last game ever, I think a handshake is appropriate.. A turd is a turd, no matter when it is dropped, no matter how long it is. McCreary just took longer to flush,
thesportsbuff Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 I'm guessing you didn't watch this. No, I watched. It was quite obviously Ovechkin initiated the conversation to congratulate McReary on his career. There was probably a brief response from McReary -- "thanks, nice goal" or something to that effect. Why are we making a big deal out of this? lol
Wyldnwoody44 Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Am I missing something here? Both penalties were very clear high sticks. Yes Prolly, just the fact that the whistles were.away alllll game until those.calls....makes.it sketchy
kishoph Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 watching replay of that penalty was a BS call that late in game I didn't see a good replay, but I thought the high stick was chest high, have to see a better replay. How sickening was that Ovie, McCREARY love fest.
fiftyone Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 You people are being ridiculous. The Sabres gave away a point tonight by losing a lead twice in the last 8 minutes of the third. Not because of the refs. Not because of an anti-Sabres, pro-Capitals conspiracy, but because they didn't play well enough. Seriously.
sabres1970 Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 This whole game freaking sucked. Hate the Caps, theyre like the Patriots of the NHL. Their fans will be there as long as theyre doing well and if not the arena looks like an AHL game. Hated the whole McCreary thing, hes a freaking ref, calm down. And I hate Ovechkin, hes wildly overrated and I hope we play them in the first round so we'll be just another team to "upset" the Capitals in the playoffs. Screw this, go out and kick some freaking ass tomorrow.

87168 Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Wow, crazy game. Glad they fought back and were very lucky on two of their goals to get a point. I really hope Miller gets back soon. No way you are going to win many games with your goalie giving up huge rebounds all night long. For all those crying about McCreary, did you see the replay? Goose clearly hit him in the face (unintentionally) with his stick. And just exactly how many goals were scored off of a rebound? I count one, and that rebound was in the air and batted in.
Stoner Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 OV thanking McCreary for keeping the game going by making up a call. As they say, isn't that a terrible "optic" for the NHL? Can you imagine some soccer fan in Zimbabwe watching his first hockey game on satellite? "So before the game the manager of the Caps gives the ref a fruit basket, then after they win, that Russian smiles and shakes his hand! Bloody crooks!" Kidding. Officiating had nothing to do with this one. Terrible stick fouls under pressure.
thesportsbuff Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Can you imagine some soccer fan in Zimbabwe watching his first hockey game on satellite? this is where i lost it   FOUR TWENTY TO GO in the third period... Sabres lead by one!
LGR4GM Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Brad Boyes who I like, sucked tonight. He let Ovechkin walk off the wall on the game winner. He took a bad penalty when we had the lead and he was invisible other than that. Enroth has some work to do which anyone not yelling for millers trade knew after the last game. Enroth has to be more precise on his movements and not let up 20ft rebounds. Glad we got a point but I am already looking on to tomorrow and am just glad we sucked versus Washington because it is less likely we will play so sloppy against the Canes. Regroup, and fight on.
DR HOLLIDAY Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 And just exactly how many goals were scored off of a rebound? I count one, and that rebound was in the air and batted in. A couple of goals were right after rebounds.......The last goal was also painful to watch but it was just plain unlucky IMO.
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 the stick calls were valid but jeeze that late in game refs sure didnt swallow whistle like they did early in the game
Stoner Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 this is where i lost it   FOUR TWENTY TO GO in the third period... Sabres lead by one! I missed that one. I was doing a long line of coke to celebrate the big win.
LGR4GM Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 And just exactly how many goals were scored off of a rebound? I count one, and that rebound was in the air and batted in. Really what about the 4-4 tie goal that enroth saved then it bounced to arnott... Rebounds killed this team tonight.
thesportsbuff Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 First two goals were really weak. I know he got no help from the defense but there's no doubt in my mind Miller snags and covers both of those shots. Game winner was, as HOLLIDAY put it, just plain unlucky. That one hurt to watch to go in. Looked like it was moving so slow, maybe because I saw the whole season flash before my eyes as it crossed the crease with Enroth falling down, after being redirected twice. Buffalo's famed PK didn't show up tonight. Hope that's not a sign of things to come in the playoffs. Does this mean our "goaltender controversy," as WGR so mildly put it, is short lived??
87168 Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 A couple of goals were right after rebounds.......The last goal was also painful to watch but it was just plain unlucky IMO. Not that I saw. The first was off a rebound and the second hit the post. The other 2 where PP goals. One went right through Enroth's pads during the screen and the last was defected off of Pommers stick and Gaustad's (?) skate... So really Enroth was responsible for ONE rebound goal
Tyrannustyrannus Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 and the Bandits lose in OT. Not a good night
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 defense will have to step it up tomorrow canes speed will be an issue and they have to protect enroth on those big rebounds he gives
wallybarthman Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 both times the sabres got ahead in the third Mccrappy called questionable highsticking penalties Actually - I didn't think the call on Boyes was shaky at all. The Gaustad call was marginal for the 1st period, let alone the last two minutes of the 3rd
LGR4GM Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 Not that I saw. The first was off a rebound and the second it the post. The other 2 where PP goals. One went right through Enroth's pads during the screen and the last was defected off of Pommers stick and Gaustad's (?) skate... So really Enroth was responsible for ONE rebound goal Watch the 4th goal again. Enroth makes the save then Arnott grabs the huge rebound and throws it into the open net.
deluca67 Posted April 3, 2011 Report Posted April 3, 2011 These last four games are going to be crazy.
