Weave Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 If that's what u like to call it... So I see the Lent thing is over...... :D
Stoner Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Ok. Can we all back off a bit? PA, there is an active thread about goaltending that is a perfect forum for your thoughts on Miller. While I have no right to dictate who posts where, I'm going to repeat my request from the Derek Roy thread several months ago that we try to stick to the point of a thread. A few diversions are part of the fun on this board but this thread should remain mainly about the Sabres-Rangers game. Similarly, no one has the right to demand that a poster ignore him/her rather than criticizing his/her post. On the other hand, I sense some ganging up on PA right now, and that's not too cool either. We're all Sabres fans, well, except for the two superdaves and Millbank (who hasn't been around in a while), so let's try to get along a little better than we have been this week. Hey, if PA and I can reach a "separate peace" on the crowd noise thing, anything can happen. Enroth vs. Miller seems like a natural extension of the Rangers game. Seems very on topic to me. You could go crazy breaking out of game discussions to other threads. What if the power play sucks on a given night? Does the discussion have to go into a separate power play thread? I didn't demand that anyone ignore me, just offered it as a suggestion. Some people don't know about it. If a poster is that bothered by someone's posts, or just doesn't want to deal with it, the ignore feature works well. I wish the software could somehow ignore quoted material though.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 If that's what u like to call it... Much like a mousetrap that has seen dozens of victims over a short span and the spring loses it's tension to the point it no longer creates enough force on the participant to be effective.
LGR4GM Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 what is going on in this thread? I am so confused.
R_Dudley Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Did someone just post a response to me ? Nah just my magination, boy this ignore feature really works well.
R_Dudley Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Did someone just post a response to me ? Nah just my magination, boy this ignore feature really works well. You can say that again.
nfreeman Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 I vote that everyone pays attention to everyone's signature. Especially mine. #shameless Here's another way to help if you cannot donate money: www.marrow.org Very nice. FWIW, a friend of mine (a mother of 3, btw) literally had her life saved by a bone marrow transplant. The odds of a compatible match are very low, so the more donors there are, the greater the chance that someone's life will be saved. The ignore feature has limited benefit. You still get e-mail notification of their post with the content included for subscribed threads. You also see their posts when they are quoted by others. It does make browsing new threads more enjoyable, but is not a panacea. It is really a shame that the most frequent poster on this site is commonly viewed as its biggest troll. To say the act is tiresome understates things by a mile. The ban me or STFU post is asinine and childish. Suggesting that those who disagree with him be banned is worse. He has a history of calling for those who diagree with him to be banned (Hank). His grooming of new posters to be his friends is obvious, and as creepy as GoDD's uncle. Eleven posted this in the Making the Trip to Raleigh thread: Its message is applicable here as well. It's of course up to you, but this seems a bit harsh. Anyone think the Lightning would take Miller for Stamkos straight up? I really hope this was said in irony. Ok. Can we all back off a bit? Hey, if PA and I can reach a "separate peace" on the crowd noise thing, anything can happen. Well said, as always. Sadly, I have over 11,000 posts. Only a small percentage of them have anything to do with Ruff or Miller. Now I have no choice but to call BS.
Stoner Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Now I have no choice but to call BS. It's common sense, but I'm not going to go back and read 11,000 posts to prove the point. Oh, what the hell. Hold on...

I wish there was a way for members to know whose ignore list they are on (or even just the number of people ignoring them). I know I'm curious if anyone has been offended by some of the ridiculous things I have typed.

Interesting idea for a damnable afterlife: One has to reread everything they've put on the internet in infinite loop. ewww....I gave myself chills.
will Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 Through either greatness or longevity, a franchise goalie is one who is seemingly irreplaceable, the face of the franchise in many cases. Words have to have meaning. not to pile on, but i don't think you ever got around to explaining what makes someone a "hockey guy" during your protest of black and sawyer.

Stoner Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 not to pile on, but i don't think you ever got around to explaining what makes someone a "hockey guy" during your protest of black and sawyer. Darcy played professionally, became an assistant GM and eventually a GM. As team president, he'd be a hockey guy. Lindy played, became an assistant coach, then a head coach. He'd be a hockey guy in a president's role. Some guys come up through scouting. I just don't think guys on the business side are hockey guys. If Ted Black is a hockey guy, then Larry Quinn is one, and we can't have that. The fear is Ted, Dan, Ken and Terry sitting a room deciding if it's time to pull the plug on Darcy or Lindy. Scary.

I'm sure if you were a Leaf's fan you would be stroking your chin at this: Maple Leaf President Brian Burke just announced Ron Wilson is staying after (most likely), missing the playoffs for the third straight year. Wilson and Burke were teammates at Providence.

I would take Burke/Wilson over Regier/Ruff in: 1) Bar fight 2) Poker Game 3) Drinking Contest 4) To Order my Food 5) Run Hockey Team I would take Regier/Ruff to: 1) Fix my Microsoft Excel 2) Put my Dog on a Diet 3) Pick Out a Fine Chardonay 4) Find a Good Deal on a Prius 5) Learn How to Blend In
shrader Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 As long as you're going back through all the board archives, can you check to see what I've been babbling about all this time? Mandy Moore?

X. Benedict Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 I'd rather have Ruff in a bar fight...Regier...ehhhhh, he can hide under the table... Burke's a bit of a stuffed shirt if you'd asked me, I'd say 6' and at least 265 lbs. I'd take Lindy. I think Darcy and Ron Wilson would be even money.

ROC Sabres Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 I would take Burke/Wilson over Regier/Ruff in: 1) Bar fight 2) Poker Game 3) Drinking Contest 4) To Order my Food 5) Run Hockey Team I would take Regier/Ruff to: 1) Fix my Microsoft Excel 2) Put my Dog on a Diet 3) Pick Out a Fine Chardonay 4) Find a Good Deal on a Prius 5) Learn How to Blend In I think I would take Schoop and the Bulldog over Regier/Ruff for those. In fact I think I found all of those listening to there show in 5 minutes. Nice part is if you miss it you can tune in anytime and eventually they will repeat it within a 1 hour window.
