wjag Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Buffalo's Magic Number is 10 for making the playoffs heading into tonight.
R_Dudley Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Toronto papers are humming about this being a must win game for them. Saying they need to get a lot of traffic on Miller. I expect them to be bumping and or running him a bit. I hope the team is prepared to respond to any of those shenanigans appropriately. Should be drilling the refs to watch for that as well. I am a bit surprised we sound like we are already comitted to Miller for the back to backs but I'm not the coach. Another playoff style game tonight. Can't wait. Would love to end the Leafs season and keep the pressure on all the teams in front and behind us. Get it done. Let's go Buff'a'lo.
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Win and tighten the noose on the neck of the leafs and canes; now thats a two for

These are two huge back to backs with the first allowing the Sabres to basically eliminate T.O. and the second we could catch the Rags. If we can grab the four points and gain a bit of ground I say they run out Enroth on Saturday against the Caps and save Miller for Sunday against Carolina. That'll give him 3.5 days off to prepare for the Canes. Let's get the two points and eliminate these scum bags!

Every team says that about every goalie every game. Can't stop what he can't see. keep him back in the net.....
SabresMojo Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 WGR - Ruff discussing back-to-back games Jordan Leopold was sick Monday and did not visit a hand specialist. The Sabres’ defenseman plans to today and the team will update his condition after the specialist gives his recommendation. Ruff would not speculate before he hears the doctor’s diagnosis. The swelling in Patrick Kaleta’s knee has subsided and while he is progressing, the Sabres’ head coach would not put a timetable on Kaleta returning to the lineup. All indications point to Grier and Myers playing, although Myers has a variety of ailments that he is dealing with including a rash. Both Leo and Kaleta are key to a Sabres playoff push. I hope they return soon. As for Miller; I hope the decision they make with him is smart and not forced...Enroth is a quality back up and will be a quality starter in a few years (if not in Buffalo). Need 2 tonight as usual

They can also catch Montreal if things play out the right way tonight... and without even burning the game in hand.
Samson's Flow Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Stuck in seattle for this one so there's no way of getting out of work before the game ends... stupid time zones. Going back to miller/enroth - have we even played enroth once since his permanent call up? Seems sort of wasteful

Can you afford to have Enroth have a bad game? Miller needs to play until we clinch a spot.

dEnnis the Menace Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 If not tomorrow, what upcoming games do we see Enroth?
SabresMojo Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 If not tomorrow, what upcoming games do we see Enroth? I dont think we will. Unless we have secured a spot. Miller will play tonight; most likely tomorrow (saying we DONT see Enroth). We have Washington, Carolina, Tampa Bay, Philadelphia, and Columbus. If ANY, I'd say Columbus because its the last game and we played Philly the night before. Then again, all depends on the playoff situation.
Derrico Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 If not tomorrow, what upcoming games do we see Enroth? I say Washington, we need Miller ready for the Canes. Hopefully we'll beat Carolina and pretty much have the playoffs wrapped up which would allow us to give Miller atleast one game off the final weekend of the season. If this goes to plan, he'll only have to play 5 of the last 7.

Seems sort of wasteful  Minnesota and Ottawa Both games were a win..... I get your point, trust me, but Enroth is a quality tender and plays with a very level head. He shows a lot of composure under pressure... I'd hate to see him being under utilized in future.

But first things first, Blow Leafs Blow!
spndnchz Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Boyes nets one tonight against the team that drafted him.
TheMadCap Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Why not Enroth against Carolina? The Hurricanes seem to have good success beating Miller...
R_Dudley Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Do you really want to play our back up in these big games? Can you afford to have Enroth have a bad game? Miller needs to play until we clinch a spot. I want a balanced schedule for our number one goaltender that keeps him fresh for the playoffs and limits his chances of getting injured especially against teams that may take liberties. So yes I do want a backup to play in some of these big games. With all remaining seven games ability to effect their final seeding can't it be said they are all big games ? What clinches a spot for you ? Last I see some value in not just relying on your goaltender going into the playoffs and throwing some responsibilty/trust to the team to play solid in front of whoever you put in net.
Sabre Dance Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 Why not Enroth against Carolina? The Hurricanes seem to have good success beating Miller... Yes, he seems to have underwehlming games against the 'Canes, especially in their building. Putting Enroth in may throw the 'Canes just enough of a curve to pull out a close game.

Last I see some value in not just relying on your goaltender going into the playoffs and throwing some responsibilty/trust to the team to play solid in front of whoever you put in net. Next year. TPegs with make sure that we have a goalie that will play every 5th or 6th game (whether that be Enroth or someone else). If they get locked in at 8th, I have no probably with putting in Enroth for most of the remaining games but until they have sealed that puppy up, I wan't Miller playing any game he feels ready for. And before I get the reply "Do you really think TPegs is going to tell Ruff how to coach?" I'm not saying he is, I just think he will put someone in that backup role to do more than be a cheerleader.
LGR4GM Posted March 29, 2011 Report Posted March 29, 2011 First we can pretty much kill the leafs playoff hopes tonight. Second, who cares if kaleta comes back or not? This team has not noticed his absence Third, Myers needs some ointment for his rash cuz thats just creepy. Finally, The Sabres could effectively by Sunday night, decide or lock up the playoffs. Winning against carolina, nyr, and the leafs tonight could seal the deal :death: by putting teams between them and carolina and by moving further away from a canes team that if we beat, I think we break their will. So buffalo better come out swinging tonight and put some pressure on the laughs and expose how soft they are defensively. Vanek, now would be a great time for you to light it up. Lets Go Buffalo!

We have Washington, Carolina, Tampa Bay, Philadelphia, and Columbus. If ANY, I'd say Columbus because its the last game and we played Philly the night before. Then again, all depends on the playoff situation. I'm going to buck the trend here and say Miller (TOR), Enroth (NYR), Miller (WAS), Miller (CAR). So why NYR? Without question in my mind, Enroth is going to have to play one game. Tonight's game doesn't make sense since Miller has had two days rest. I know folks want to draw a distinction between WAS and NYR. I see them as the same. The Sabres need to win one of those two. I pick Enroth for NYR giving Miller two days rest before WAS and CAR. Cam Ward will also be playing back-to-back games over the weekend. They will both be equally tired. Just comes down to a hunch for me. I see a big difference in talent between NYR and WAS (esp if OV is back). That NYR game seems like a low scoring , deliberate paced, slug fest. I think Enroth would manage that style very well. Now if Buffalo wins @TOR, NYR, @WAS with Miller, Enroth, Miller, I go with Enroth @CAR. But only in the scenario where they win three (not likely IMHO).
