nrod424 Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Why does it always seem like games against the Panthers are tough, even though they are usually at the bottom of the standings so other teams are apparently having no trouble with them? 2 points, please. Sometimes I feel like no one ever taught Lindy what the trap was. Some games they just keep trying to skate it in, only to realize it wont work. Then they skate in circles through the neutral zone for a few seconds and give up by dumping it in and going for a line change. If only they would dump and chase. If only.
SabresMojo Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 If Buffalo beats Florida .. and .. If Buffalo beats New Jersey .. and .. If Tampa beats Carolina .. and .. If Tampa beats Carolina again .. and .. If Boston beats New York .. and .. If Washington beats Montreal .... well it's not going to happen, but if it did, that would leave Buffalo sitting pretty and eyeing a shot at a 6th seed. Like the fact that NJ has Pit tonight. So they have a physical game and a travel and a back-to-back. That helps Buffalo who has a back-to-back but at least is home. If Scott Norwood hits the FG Buffalo would have a Super Bowl ring and if Hull's foot wasnt in the crease Buffalo has a chance to force game 7. LOTS of ifs...HOPEFULLY they all happen! Any news on who's starting tonight? Miller hurt? If not then MOST likely Miller...or Enroth and Miller tomorrow...who knows though. I don't mean to be a downer, but everyone seems to be more focused on catching NYR or MON rather than worrying about Carolina, who is right on our heels! If we don't get at least two points this weekend, we could be in trouble. Gotta be flipping through multiple games on the Center Ice channels tonight. We're within earshot of NYR...a few wins then BEAT them, and we're there...Its not like its a longshot. But I get the point about Carolina...every win we get OR every loss they get, it helps us.

If they catch either of the teams in front of them, it really doesn't matter if Carolina passes them, they'd be in either way.
JujuFish Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Even the Islanders and Senators have 4 game winning streaks. I think now would be a good time for Buffalo finally have their own 4+ winning streak. Take care of business tonight, please.

With the type of team we have dump and chase doesn't necessarily work. This approach requires going full bore into corners to retrieve pucks and I just don't see too many players doing that. Guys like Ennis and Vanek are better suited for stick handling it or making short quick passes at the blueline.
ROC Sabres Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 If my aunt had different parts she'd be my uncle. She can have work done for that.

I believe you may be witnessing a manifestation of the organization's new attitude. While it's certainly prudent for us to be aware of Carolina, we should not be focused on them; we should be focused on the teams ahead of us instead.

Cereal Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Don't look back, always look forward. I guess, to put it less pessimistically, I would say that I would value a victory tonight more due to the implications of keeping us in the top 8, than the implications of catching 7th or 6th.

Anything less than two points tonight will be devastating. Florida has jumped on the Sabres in the first period outscoring them 7-0. Look no further than how they play in the first to know what this game will be like.

I think that's a sensible attitude. But if we're talking placement - I don't think 6th is realistic. 7th, yes, but no further than that at this point.

bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Figured I'd celebrate 1000 posts by putting it up early. damn my eyes hurt now. We need this one tonight big time and Tampa to crush canes.
TheMatrix31 Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 I don't know... it sure would be nice to not have to play the top seed Philly. Even Washington would be a better matchup given their history of playoff struggles Disagree. I think I'd rather play Philly. Washington's on fire. Momentum might outweigh historical playoff struggles? I don't know. Then again, statistically, is a #8 gonna beat a #1 two years in a row?
OverPowerYou Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 This game against Florida has the feel of a 3-2 loss. I say Buffalo gets scored on 3 times in the 1st period and then Buffalo scores 2 goals with 3 minutes left only to lose by 1. As for tomorrow against Jersey, Buffalo loses 2-1 exactly 14 seconds into overtime.

Then again, statistically, is a #8 gonna beat a #1 two years in a row? Actually it'd be three in a row. The Ducks upset San Jose in the 09 playoffs. Of note the 08 playoffs had Boston pushing Montreal to 7 games before the favourites won. Let's just get in and see what happens.
dEnnis the Menace Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 How about if Buffalo wins tonight, you can't call yourself a Sabres fan anymore... Thirded. In all seriousness though, I see this being a tight game, and I don't see Florida being shutout again (although it would be very entertaining)
