spndnchz Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Panthers at Sabres 3-25-11 7:30 PM start The Sabres come into the weekend with a three-point lead over ninth-place Carolina in the race for the last playoff spot in the East.
wjag Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 If Buffalo beats Florida .. and .. If Buffalo beats New Jersey .. and .. If Tampa beats Carolina .. and .. If Tampa beats Carolina again .. and .. If Boston beats New York .. and .. If Washington beats Montreal .... well it's not going to happen, but if it did, that would leave Buffalo sitting pretty and eyeing a shot at a 6th seed. Like the fact that NJ has Pit tonight. So they have a physical game and a travel and a back-to-back. That helps Buffalo who has a back-to-back but at least is home.
Assquatch Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Why does it always seem like games against the Panthers are tough, even though they are usually at the bottom of the standings so other teams are apparently having no trouble with them? 2 points, please.

It's the Trap. Forces us into a chess match even against inferior teams.
wjag Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 It's the Trap. Forces us into a chess match even against inferior teams. Yep. And back-to-back trap games against trapping teams. Shaping up to be a low scoring weekend.
R_Dudley Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Wow was that really only 3 days w/o any Sabres hockey ? Sure seemed longer must've been dog days. Anywho here we are with I believe a chance for getting a tie in the infamous Deluca .500. Even more important and as Jag pointed out a chance to stay in the hunt for even better things than 8th place. And the best it's Friday night and no kids sports activities to interfere with watching my favorite team tonight. No mercy, No not being ready, pounce on these kitties and lets win one at home against an inferior team like we should. Lets' go Buff'a'lo.
dEnnis the Menace Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 I've been watching this board for a long time before I finally signed up a couple weeks back...but I swear, every time we come remotely close to the Deluca500, someone mentions it, and we don't get there...it's like mentioning a shutout before it's a shutout! try something new...let's not re mention it haha. And Dudly, those were the longest three days! LETS GO BUFFALO!

LET"S GO BUFFALO Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 If TAMPA BAY can't get their head out of their a$$ Buffalo could be looking at some hurricane winds blowing up our spot...they have won 3 out of their last 11
shrader Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 It's the Trap. Forces us into a chess match even against inferior teams. I was going to mention how boring those games always are, but you pretty much beat me to it.
LET"S GO BUFFALO Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Carolina is 1-1-1 against Tampa this year with three games against them coming up this statistic is meaningless except for the fact that Carolina has not won in Tampa this year
PromoTheRobot Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 I don't care what seed we are as long as we are in. Mentioning Deluca is bad juju. PTR
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Win and keep applying pressure to the throats of the canes
carpandean Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Nothing to lose meets desperate to win. Which cliché shall prevail?
Samson's Flow Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 If TAMPA BAY can't get their head out of their a$$ Buffalo could be looking at some hurricane winds blowing up our spot...they have won 3 out of their last 11 Why wouldn't you say they have lost 8 of their last 11? just sounds funny saying a negative stat so positively... Just nitpicking though. This is one of those teams that always seems to play us tough, whether its a matchup thing or style or what. We can always expect a tough game from the panther cellar-dwellers. Go Sabres!
Samson's Flow Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 I don't care what seed we are as long as we are in. Mentioning Deluca is bad juju. PTR I don't know... it sure would be nice to not have to play the top seed Philly. Even Washington would be a better matchup given their history of playoff struggles

Just nitpicking though. This is one of those teams that always seems to play us tough, whether its a matchup thing or style or what. We can always expect a tough game from the panther cellar-dwellers. Go Sabres! I feel that the fact that they have only won 3 emphasizes more on how poorly they have played they have dropped in the standings and could be ripe for the picking...we need at least a two game buffer when we play carolina or we will be seeing the driving range early
LET"S GO BUFFALO Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 I don't know... it sure would be nice to not have to play the top seed Philly. Even Washington would be a better matchup given their history of playoff struggles The playoffs and the regular season are two totally different monsters and is more about who is hot then who was top in the division...philly is ripe to fall in the first round to any team...they have poor goaltending and their defense is big and slow and will most certainly be tired by the end of a 5 or 6 game series...washington on the other hand although having a poor history is getting hot at the right time with a much better defense and goaltending...think about philly last year realistically probably shouldn't have been a playoff team...then they go on a streak make it in the last game and make it all the way to the big dance...1st place seeds rarely make it all the way unless they are outstanding
Derrico Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 You're right, at each juncture in the last three weeks, any attempt at "the Deluca" has failed. Exactly, it's been a bigger jinx then Connolly lol. Hopefully this isn't a huge letdown game because looking at the schedule there are some tough teams left on it. Florida beat the Leafs bad last week and only lost to the Rags 1-0 earlier this week. They arn't exactly a push over.
nfreeman Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Damn, not another home game....... Right on. Back-to-back home games against 2 non-playoff teams. They SHOULD come out focused and intense both nights and get the 4 points in the bank. Will they do so? I'll be very surprised if they do.
plenzmd1 Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 And the best it's Friday night and no kids sports activities to interfere with watching my favorite team tonight. No mercy, No not being ready, pounce on these kitties and lets win one at home against an inferior team like we should. Lets' go Buff'a'lo. Jacked for the game as well. Only conflict I have is the Richmond game on at the same time. Good dilemma to have I guess. Got my Spiders hat on now, will switch to the Sabres lid this afternoon . :death: to the Panthers and that friggen trap!!

Cereal Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 I don't mean to be a downer, but everyone seems to be more focused on catching NYR or MON rather than worrying about Carolina, who is right on our heels! If we don't get at least two points this weekend, we could be in trouble. Gotta be flipping through multiple games on the Center Ice channels tonight.
