X. Benedict Posted March 22, 2011 Report Posted March 22, 2011 This is a great discussion of scoring chances and great graphics of where goals are scored from. Notice how most goals are scored in the middle slot area. Scroll down midway http://www.russianmachineneverbreaks.com/2011/02/27/why-scoring-chances-are-important/ These are usually the goals that you blame on your defense because they are the highest percentage shots. As far as the past weekend goes, the two weird goals that Atlanta scored on bothered me more because those were Millers to stop, i.e. taken outside the slot area. As far as the Nashville game goes, I was concerned more about the defense for allowing shots in the final minutes right in the slot area. Anyway, It helps answer the question about when your defense is to blame, and when your goaltender is to blame.
