Patty16 Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Never asked her for a picture. Jerry Sullivan. Why do you step on the logo? pos Thats his shtick and he's admitted as much. He's much less of a columnist than an antagonizer. He knew what he was doing. I can see it now, he'll do his radio appearance on GR and say something like, hey i didnt know but if the players are upset about that it just shows you how mentally fragile they are...no wonder they cant hold a lead. He knows what hes doing.
Stoner Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 ...miller... I'm glad he skated off quick. It shows me that he knows how bad he wet himself tonight. Bzzzzz. I bet he was disgusted at Myers and Sekera -- and how the rest of the team refused to play a boring chess match again. And didn't finish all those chances to make it 4-1.
shrader Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Can someone check and see if d4rksabre is still alive. With all these hat tricks they're giving up to Wisconsin kids this year, I'm worried about him.
Stoner Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Never asked her for a picture. Jerry Sullivan. Why do you step on the logo? pos Is this the "crapola" Harrington tweeted about? Jerry eh? More than likely on purpose. Damn, this is good stuff. Mike should give us what we want. WHO stepped on it and more importantly, WHAT Sabres were upset. Gaustad was named. Paul Hamilton was talking about how he hadn't seen the lockerroom in such a tizzy for years. Guys cursing, throwing stuff. We need to know which guys! The Buffalo sports media frustrates. The story of yesterday was Miller's meltdown. Harrington didn't think anyone asked to talk to Miller. Why the hell not? The story of Saturday was whether Hasek would be booed. No one broached the topic at Dom's little presser. Way to miss interesting stories, guys. Where do the marching orders come from, anyway?
Dave Dryden Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Nope, I'm not a Miller fan and when he gaffs i'll say as much (I don't see you ragging on the Connolly haters, why not). If you don't like it don't read but don't tell me what I can and can not talk about. You can talk about whatever you like--but that does not mean it doesn't get old.
SwampD Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Bzzzzz. I bet he was disgusted at Myers and Sekera -- and how the rest of the team refused to play a boring chess match again. And didn't finish all those chances to make it 4-1. 'sigh' You're probably right.
Stoner Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 I wonder if Toronto looked at Connolly's goal. Well, OK, every goal is reviewed. It seemed to hit the crossbar and drop down onto the goal line. Then again, the net riffled (but didn't point) -- would the contact with the bar make the net riffle? Probably not. Not that a team broadcast would decide not to show a replay that shows a goal not being scored. <--- someone mercy-kill this sentence Pitt scandal -- Ted Black at FSP?
shrader Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Paul Hamilton was talking about how he hadn't seen the lockerroom in such a tizzy for years. Guys cursing, throwing stuff. We need to know which guys! Did this really happen? If it did, I can almost guarantee that one guy's name starts with "V" and ends with "anek".
SabresMojo Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 No defeat. It shows you are more open minded than many and willing to be persuaded. If everyone was like that, debate would be more fun. Diatribes clashing with diatribes is kind of boring and pointless IMO, and you see a bit too much of that sometimes. Take that as a compliment? Yeah, I do like to debate and talk..but like you said it gets boring with the same things being said
SabresMojo Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 OK. At this point, I believe that Miller's "normal" is somewhere between last year and this year. A bit Tim Thomas like. But why quibble? I agree with that, in the fact of between this year and last. I think his normal/best is what we've seen after he rests. He also looks to get worn out wayyy too quickly.
CallawaySabres Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Was at the game last night and could not even own up to telling my 5 year girl they lost after she asked "did they just lose, I thought they won..." I said, they played well enough to get a point so that is good....the smile was back :) Anyway, this is going to be good for this team and if the locker romm was half as upset as I hear, then VERY good things will come of it. Get some fire heading into Montreal and they should be in great shape. Listen, they are ahead by 3 points, they are getting tons of chances and people who are pissed off are expecting WAY too much out of this team. Enjoy the ride right now for the love of God. Everyone knows there are pieces missing and that can't be helped until July 1. The young guys are playing out of their heads and there has been some pretty darn good entertaining hockey as of late. You wait, last night is going to push them harder, book it!
TheMadCap Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 How many one on NONEs did Miller stop the last two games? He's playing good. Sometimes stuff happens. The defensive lapses and failure to convert goals killed them last night. Miller SHOULD be pissed. They will be fine...

That's a nice story, and your positive outlook is admirable in certain respects, but after the Carolina bummer some people were saying the same thing. I'm having a hard time buying into it. While I am enjoying the ride, that final-minutes break down of the team does not inspire much confidence.

Understandably. They have a cushion. They're gonna need it.
Assquatch Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 They have a cushion. They're gonna need it. There's a "team full of pillow-biters" joke in there somewhere.

I guess my point is that they are playing very well and there have been individual mistakes that have cost games. Those can be corrected opposed to full full games where they are being outplayed....
kishoph Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Never asked her for a picture. Jerry Sullivan. Why do you step on the logo? pos I heard the loser on WGR this morning saying he was the one to step on the logo and he chuckled about it. If he was the one, I wouldn't be surprised if it was done on purpose, it seems like he gets off on the attention he gets from saying shocking stuff. If he does it again, he needs to be banned from the locker room for blatant disrespect to the team and it's players.
OverPowerYou Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 What we learned last night is that playing 58 minutes of hockey is not enough... It's all or nothing in this league

Maybe he did it out of respect for the logo to see who would take offense, if anyone? Goose let loose, but maybe he's still mad about Jerry hurling an f-bomb at his BFF.
... Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 FWIW, I could have easily used the word "######" in my above post. I guess I should be glad I'm not banned for using that word elsewhere - that'd be a ###### up my ######.

X. Benedict Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Two reasons why Jerry Sullivan should still not write about hockey: (after a beautiful article on Rico last week). Absolutely no respect or knowlege for hockey traditions. "it was not a night to wander onto the precious new team logo in the middle of the room" So Jerry. Nice how you've just used one word to feminize a team. It also represents the city, and the fans, ...just the kind of cattery we've come to expect from you. Precious, eh? "Miller stormed off the ice in disgust" If you knew hockey culture Jerry, you would know that goalie usually gets rubbed down by teamates even after a loss at almost every level. It's to share responsibilty. It's how it's done. How does a goaltender take the blame....by doing what he did. Worst thing about this football mess, is that you probably think you have more to say about hockey. Sad stuff, Jerry. What a precious column you write. What a precious little sportswriter you are. What precious knowlege you have to share with us. Geez men, read a book. Study up, man. You've never bothered. Your time is too precious. Rant over.
carpandean Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 Side question: is Geoffrion really a fourth-generation NHLer? His father was in the NHL, as was his grandfather. However, neither of his grandfather's parents was in the NHL. Instead, his grandfather married a NHLer's daughter. To me, if you say an "n-generation" player, then it has to be blood, not in-laws. To give some perspective, if he's fourth-generation, then were he to have a daughter who went on to marry an NHLer, then would that player be a fifth-generation NHLer?

I'll have to register with hockeyancestery.com. :) I think the Mormon's run it. ;)
SabresMojo Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 One quick note I saw... 5 rookies have gotten hattricks this year. Buffalo has been on the receiving end of THREE of those.
