So Connolly talk aside...great win by the Sabres. With Nashville tomorrow on a short turnaround (5 p.m. start according to Sabres.com? How did I miss that?) and Montreal looming on Tuesday we should probably see Enroth tomorrow, no? That would give Miller two full days off until the Friday/Saturday back-to-backs with Florida and Jersey.

UR correct no Enroth tomorrow B-)

woot, just finished my dvr of the game, glad we got 7 (and that they painted it on the ice) and added an 8th. Thought Boyes deserved that goal after drawing the penalty and Vanek deserved some goals but got some bad luck. Vaneks been playing the best hockey I have seen from him in years. He could have easily had a hat trick tonight but just got unlucky. Myers is back, plain and simple. Tyler Ennis, where and when did he learn to shoot? He has launched at least 3 of his last 5 goals top shelf where no goalie is gonna even have a shot. His patience and wrister are bordering superstar. Gerbe is super determined and he will be valuable in the future. Great Win, and hopefully it carriers over to tomorrow but be wary the "hangover" effect from such a well played game. Continue working hard boys (no pun intended) and remember when the playoffs start, if your in, All Bets Are Off.

This was a very nice win, this is the way you play at home against the playoff spot contenders.

Unbelievable how many great chances of Vanek didn't go in

I really liked the goal of Gerbe, like a small vicious Terrier he knocked 5 times on the puck and finally, while he was lying on the ice, the puck went in.

So hopefully there is some power left for the Predators today.

Let's go Buffalo

awesome win although I want to see Vanek start finishing again. He is one guy that worries me when it comes to getting in a goal slump. It is great that he is getting the chances but he should have easily hung two more last night. Time for 2 more points today with no excuse of being tired. Nashville had a huge win in Detroit last night so if any team should have a let down, it's them.

I'm happy they won. I always go back and forth on who needs it more. But a team that got a win last night against a conference rival will be less desperate than a team that didn't (goes both ways of course). Let's hope that Stafford, Vanek and Myers who were left out of the goal binge last night get theirs tonight.

I see Pegs is starting to buy some penalty calls.

If anything, the refs gave Atlanta a couple of breaks. That team played some undisciplined hockey last night.

A few things from the game -

Was this the first game for the new 'sword of a thousand men" song? Still not sure how I feel about it but it definitely really catchy.

Still hearing the RJ calls after each goal. I always thought that was something missing from the arena experience. Good on ya TP and Black.

Atlanta was really undisciplined last night. It was pretty telling that Kane went after both Gerbe and Ennis once the game got out of hand. It was good to see the sabres cash in on some of those PP chances to really run up the tally.

The forecheck last night was a huge key to the success and the win. There were numerous times when ATL dmen had to circle back at their own blueline due to the forecheck pressure. We got a lot of disruptive play and it seemed to be a team effort and not just one or two guys.

Solid offensive scoring production from the top two lines, the people we expect to score did and they were attacking the whole game even when we had a big lead. that is definitely how to hold a lead. glad they didnt go into a shell and coast for the last 20 mins. Even nieds got two (2!!) goals last time I checked.

Need to carry this win and momentum into the next game and ultimately into the playoffs.

I took a look at Nashville's score sheet 4 tonite. Anybody know why JP's not on there?

Dumont has been horrible for most of the year so he has been a healthy scratch quite a bit lately. I get the sense that his best days are behind him. He just kind of coasts out there and doesn't do the dirty work any more, which is something Barry Trotz won't tolerate. (I'm a Predators partial season ticket holder)

BTW - Mike Fischer has IMHO been the Predators best forward since coming over from Ottawa. He gives 100% on every shift.

lol check out tsn's report on the game last night, its titled: Mancari sparks sabres to win over thrashers. Then the first paragraph is about nathan gerbe "BUFFALO, N.Y. -- Diminutive forward Nathan Gerbe's perseverance led the way in the Buffalo Sabres' highest-scoring game of the season.

Gerbe inspired a five-goal surge by jamming in a shot on his fourth attempt in the Sabres' 8-2 win over the Atlanta Thrashers on Saturday night."

I think they are confused.

Not sure what you;re saying here. Enroth or Miller tonight?

Timmy has been doing alright lately. He's just not the goal-producer that he once was; his role has changed. The Sabres have Vanek, Stafford, Boyes, Ennis, Pominville, Gerbe, Myers, Leopold and, I guess you can say for right now, Niedermayer getting the pucks in the net with some consistency. Timmy has been a pretty good set up man since the beginning of the calendar year, and I'd rather players like Connolly, Weber, Grier, and Hecht blocking the shots and putting themselves in harm's way, which is what they do.

He never was a real goal scorer. Maximum goals in a season in the NHL? 18. He's only broken 50 points twice.

Career Stats

I do think he has been playing much better lately however.

any one have a link to the video of Hasek dropping the puck at last night's game? Sounds like a quintessential Sabres moment. Too bad I missed it....I wouldn't mind Dominik as our back-up if the Sabres made the playoffs this year...

Well, that was in just over half a season (48 games), but he hasn't done any better in the few seasons that he's played significantly more than half.

Whose drop was better, Dom's or Matt Pegula's? And poor Andy Ladd. He's spent the better part of his life leaning over at center ice in Buffalo waiting for a ceremonial puck to be dropped.
