Will you ask him something? After the clinching empty netter in Toronto in the ECF in 99, he said something happened on the play he couldn't discuss at the time, but he would reveal what it was in the future. Well, it's the future! I've wondered about this over the years. I thought maybe he had crapped his pants or something. I mean, clean it up. Ask it your own way. :)

Consider it done. Next time he's in I'll ask. Got me curious now!

two notables for me missing besides Dixon and they were Shony and Curtis Brown.

There were a fair number of notable former Sabres that weren't there: Lee Fogolin, Mike Foligno, Alex Mogliny, Grant Fuhr, Dave Schultz (yes fans, he did wind up as a Sabre), Dave Andreychuk, Dave Dryden, Bob Sauve, Real "Buddy" Cloutier.... Well, the short notice could explain many of these; perhaps in the coming years it will be a tradition and more guys will show up. It was great to see those who did come - Gerry Desjardins! He was my favorite Sabres' goalie for quite a while. Ah, the memories

When did Rob say that about making it an annual thing?

That afternoon around 4pm on WGR Schopp & Bulldog. Might be in the Audio Vault. It wasn't a grand announcement. Just a matter of fact "when we do this again next year" more players will show because they will have a year's advanced notice.

I'm sure the others have explanations of their own, but Foligno is an assistant coach for Anaheim. I'd imagine that a few people would be a tad bit ticked off if he bailed on a game with playoff implications to show up.

Also, they couldn't find the Real Cloutier and didn't want to insult us with a Knockoff Cloutier.

I could see this happening on special anniversaries(40th, 50th, etc...), but I would think it would lose some luster from a fan perspective if done every year.

Ah! My bad - I guess I knew about Foligno somewhere in the back of my brain, but I tend to forget about those Western Conference teams we only see once or twice a year......

I doubt that it would lose any luster if it were yearly.

That's ok, up until last week, I still thought he was coaching up in the OHL.
