R_Dudley Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Yikes that is a lot of line up changes for one game w/o any solid practice time. Could look a little like a road tournament game. The good, if it goes to a SO not much scouting available to Fluery on all the newbee's Come on Ryan bring your A game tonight. Time to show Enroth you can pitch a 1-0 SO. Let's Go Buff'a'low.
nfreeman Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Sabres were 39-16-5 on March 8, 2006. Indeed. That team was far superior to this one. Not even close.
BetterDays06 Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Wow!! So since vanek is out, what will the lines be?
shrader Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 If Buffalo wins, they will knock the Rangers down to 8th because of a higher points percentage, the first tie breaker. (Yes, DeLuca, points percentage, not winning percentage.) Ahhh the tie breaker that only has meaning for waiver wire priority.
Weave Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Wow!! So since vanek is out, what will the lines be? According to TBN: Adam has been at wing recently in Portland and may start there tonight on a line with Brad Boyes and Drew Stafford. Paul Gaustad-Tim Connolly-Jason Pominville and Mark Mancari-Tyler Ennis-Nathan Gerbe also skated together this morning. But knowing Ruff, those combos could be scrapped in one rotation so we'll see. Adam has been playing wing in Portland? So we have NO center prospects at the AHL level now?
LGR4GM Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 According to TBN: Adam has been playing wing in Portland? So we have NO center prospects at the AHL level now? So now we should panic? Or draft some centers maybe? Or trade for some? Maybe Boyes will stay center longer than we thought...(or we keep connolly :death: )
X. Benedict Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Maybe this is a stupid question, but why doesn't everyone on every team just get a flu shot at the start of the season? My employer has a couple days every Fall when flu shots are available on-site. You'd think with a billion dollar sport and teams worth hundreds of millions of dollars, they'd invest in some flu shots. I was thinking about this too...and +I'm not sure, but I would wonder if the flu viruses floating around in September look anything like what's comes 6 months later.
Weave Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 I was thinking about this too...and +I'm not sure, but I would wonder if the flu viruses floating around in September look anything like what's comes 6 months later. IIRC there is usually more than one flu virus strain hanging around. The flu shots issued are usually for the virus predicted to be the most widespread. When the bird flu panic ran wild the CDC issued 2 different flu shots, one for the virus expected to be most prevalent and another for the bird flu strain.

There were two different shots for the regular flu and the swine flu last year. Still, I usually get one flu shot a year and I'm fine (knock on wood). Give these guys a the one regular flu shot and see if it helps. Why not? Friggin' Bruce Smith missed a playoff game back in the day because he had the flu. Just get a shot.
That Aud Smell Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 I'm not even going to ask about flu shots and NHL players again. I assume they get them and they are not effective for some reason. Maybe all the travel, the close, personal proximity to other athlets, the cold, the sweating, who knows. X. Benedict Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Right. There were two different shots for the regular flu and the swine flu last year. Friggin' Bruce Smith missed a playoff game back in the day because he had the flu. Just get a shot. I think they do get shots. IIRC there was a "scandal" about NHL players getting flu shots in Canada before the public a few years back when they were catagorizing professions and need. NHL and PUBLIC NURSES GET THROUGH TRIAGE Or something like that...
wjag Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Bill Hoppe has posted the power play units that he saw on the ice. Here are the PP units. 12-57/42-22-63 - Mancari-Myers/Gerbe-Boyes-Ennis 3-44/19-21-29 - Leopold-Sekera/Connolly-Stafford-Pominville eeewww

Well, in that case someone needs to re-train the team chef to make sure he knows when the chicken is properly cooked.
Fire Lindy Ruff NOW Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 wow. the sabres are in the 8th spot. they win tonight and there tied for 7th. unbelieveable. i was definately one of the guys thinkin they wouldnt make the playoffs. i was wrong big time.
FogBat Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 If Buffalo wins, they will knock the Rangers down to 8th because of a higher points percentage, the first tie breaker. (Yes, DeLuca, points percentage, not winning percentage.) Suh-weet! :w00t:
thesportsbuff Posted March 8, 2011 Author Report Posted March 8, 2011 btw Ruff said on WGR this morning that the long term plan for Boyes is to have him play wing, not center.
wonderbread Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Teppo was just amazing then, especially in his own zone. One touch to control the puck, a second touch to clear the zonee, right onto somebodies tape in stride. That's funny you say this as I saw Teppo at Disney earlier this year. I told him that the Sabres were missing his crisp passes up the ice. He laughed at this.
That Aud Smell Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Well, in that case someone needs to re-train the team chef to make sure he knows when the chicken is properly cooked. fair deuce, since most "stomach flus" in adults are, in fact, the result of food poisoning (although plenty are the result of garden variety viruses, too). t-v fell ill while in minnesota, which is his home turf. maybe his mother-in-law made something that wasn't quite right.
CallawaySabres Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Time for Miller to steal a game tonight because I don't see these guys getting more than 2 goals........At this point, with Vanek out, I'll be happy with one point

True dat. I could never figure out why my sisters' kids got sick all the time. Then we went camping with them and I saw how carelessly sis handled raw food. Made me queazy just watching her handle cooked chicken with the same tongs she was using on the raw chicken (no washing between). I stuck with the mac salad that evening. Anywho.... back on topic. I bet the team has him on IV fluids and he'll be back up to speed in no time.

Cause I see this line up putting up 4 to 6 goals against this depleted Pittsburg squad. Crosby, Malkin, Orpik out, that's just huge. Buffalo takes this game 5 to 2 call it.

PromoTheRobot Posted March 8, 2011 Report Posted March 8, 2011 Since Jan 1 Sabres are 17-7-4, a .607 winning pct. and a .679 points pct. We are on a pace for 95 points. PTR
