Freeezo Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Absolutely. Very good back-to-back win. Everyone on the ice, save Connolly, looked good; some looked excellent. The latter being, off the top of my head, Enroth, Vanek, Montador, Myers, and obviously Stafford. Stafford was a beast tonight, especially in the third - I'm glad he got the game-winner as he deserved it the most. Enroth was leaping around in there like a frog! Love it. I was down on him, oh, I dunno, up until this season. Saw him at various training camps prior and wasn't impressed, but this season his starts have been impressive. that's friggin' cracking me up. yeah looks like a frog!!!
... Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Grier can't come back soon enough. What? No thanks. I'd rather they dress Weber as a seventh and take advantage of Sekera's hot-streak. Grier has been slow and making poor decisions lately.
Stoner Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 On a side note, I think Harry's just about had enough of Rick, and I can't really blame him. What a weird exchange right before OT; you could tell Harry was steamed. Rick can be an ass. Did I just defend Harry for something? Actually he has sounded better of late.
LabattBlue Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Memories of Pominville in Ottawa! I thought the same exact thing.

I don't know what you are talking about because I had the Minny feed, but let me be the first to say Harry probably had it wrong. j/k

... Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Grier was actually having the best stretch of his season the five games before he got hurt. While the Sabres needed anyone to score, they definately don't need third-liners and special teams guys sucking air and making poor decisions in their own zone. That has been Grier that past five games or more IMHO.
Tyrannustyrannus Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011    it was a compliment more than anything. thanks for misunderstanding. but seriously, a player drives hard to the net and scores and the quickest memory that comes to mind is five years ago? if anything, it was a backhanded compliment. The sad thing is that if you watch Sabres highlight reels of their best goals in post-lockout seasons, Pominville is the only player still in Buffalo. That goal against Ottawa was epic and I will never forget it. I was on Rt 90 between Batavia and Rochester and was just out of WGR reception and will still never forget it.
Freeezo Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 the thing I remember about Boyes in the beg of his career was his hidius +/-....He really looks def responsible out there
wjag Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 I don't think anyone would have believed @Rangers, @Canes, @Flyers, @Wild in six nights would have results in 7/8 points. Add into that a point versus Detroit and this is an impressive run.
notwoz Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Really? we just won an OT thriller to bring us into the playoffs and you have complaints??????? Save it for Thursday, PLEASE! There was nothing sad about this! The Sabres might be in 8th place tonight -- but they're not in the playoffs by a long shot. As an aside, I'd love to see the Sabres in the playoffs, but they aren't there yet.

Oh it will never be forgotten. That's for sure. I just think the Sabres could try it more often... they get big bodies going one-on-one or one-on-two like that and all too often they just dump it in and change, take it to the corner and hold it while waiting for backup, or try to circle back to the point and wait for reinforcements. DRIVE THE NET!!!
Stoner Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 I don't know what you are talking about because I had the Minny feed, but let me be the first to say Harry probably had it wrong. j/k Harry was talking about how the Sabres had lots of energy in the third, despite third game in four days, and he didn't expect anything to change in overtime. Rick said something like "Really? I disagree with that." Harry said they just played the third with energy and they can do it again. Rick said, well, yeah, but they had to do it a day ago in Philly too, implying they should be out of gas. "Yeah they did," Harry said. Very snippy. Disclaimer: I could be imagining the whole thing.

repster Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 On to Pittsburgh, where the Penguins haven't won in regulation in 14 games. Guess who they played 15 games ago.

LGR4GM Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 So, if they continue this type of play, winning like that in overtime and such, We will all have to break out our "Do You Believe" signs... and if they keep this up, its starting to in more than 1 way resemble the 05-06 season.

Tyrannustyrannus Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 So, they disagreed. Why is that a big deal? I was always under the impression that Rick and Harry were good friends...
LabattBlue Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 If the voting period end on Sundays, Sekera deserves some consideration for NHL Player of the Week. :clapping:
Stoner Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 So, they disagreed. Why is that a big deal? It sounded like Harry finally decided to give it back a little. I'll listen to it again later. I could have misaudibilized it.
