TheMatrix31 Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 chriskerber Brad Boyes has been dealt to Buffalo. 5 minutes ago via Twitter for Android EDIT: If we're going to be using the Trade Deadline thread to discuss a Buffalo-specific trade, then lock this one up mods.
thesportsbuff Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Second round pick in 2011 for BRad Boyes THANK YOU

Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Just in time for the Buffalo News to run it for the morning... PEGULA GRABS YOUNG BOYES!
SDS Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Is he a RW or a C? I've seen him listed as both.
SDS Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 and Wikipedia is already updated. Holy crap.
darksabre Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Just in time for the Buffalo News to run it for the morning... PEGULA GRABS YOUNG BOYES! I almost spit beer and Gouda cheese all over myself.
Iron Crotch Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Weird... I just heard him interviewed on NHL radio in my car this evening after the Blues lost to the Flames. The Blues must have decided the loss made them sellers? At the time he clearly didn't know he was being dealt. Good pick up. He scored 40 one year for the Blues and 30 another year. He'll be happy to be closer to home (is from Mississauga) and will certainly be happy to be out of the ugly, lifeless trapping system that the Blues play these days.
Taro T Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Is he a RW or a C? I've seen him listed as both. Everything I've seen has him listed as a RW. (He's only taken 55 faceoffs this year.) He's signed for $4MM next year.
thesportsbuff Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Is he a RW or a C? I've seen him listed as both. Can anybody answer this? Yahoo has him listed as RW but I too thought he was a center earlier in his career? edit: nvm thanks Taro
sabills Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 He might play more center here, though. Clearly more a need than wingers for us. For a second this is a solid pickup, I like it. I bet there's one more done before tomorrow, probably a d-man if its not something big.

Maybe Pominville on the move for a center? Darcy figures he gets his new Pominville for $1.3 million a year less.
gregkash Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 12 Goals this year for Boyes.. 29 assists or something..
Steve Phillips Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Maybe Pominville on the move for a center? Darcy figures he gets his new Pominville for $1.3 million a year less. Don't get my hopes up....... Love to dump Pommers contract. Just don't see it. Darcy may have made a trade (and I think it may be a pretty good one), but notice he has not given up any of the "core" yet. He added a player without trading any of his own players. He is probably done.
SDS Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Everything I've seen has him listed as a RW. (He's only taken 55 faceoffs this year.) He's signed for $4MM next year. ESPN said center and so did wikipedia.
Robviously Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 It's a fine trade but I'm eager to send some of our current players packing too. Get on it, Pegula. Lots of dead weight in navy blue and gold.
billsrcursed Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 ESPN said center and so did wikipedia. Saw that as well. Wouldn't surprise me to see him play Center for us. I'm still looking for more stats/info. on when he played Center, how many games, etc...
Taro T Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 I'm confused now. I thought that Darcy would only make a nothing move within an hour of the deadline for something that would have no possibility of helping the Sabres. Could there be something different about his situation perhaps? Naaaahhhh, he still sucks. Not saying that he's going to be Ken Holland, but I'd seen enough in the past to believe that his hands WERE tied. Hopefully we see another deal or 2 tomorrow to help some more.

Seriously, I've seen some Blues games, my sister-in-law lives in Missouri? and she is a Blues hater. She was sayin that Boyes is good, but shoots wide an awful lot. Pomminstein's replacement?

Sounds about right........there are nights when Pommer can't hit the broadside of a barn! I just can't believe that guys is sucking down 5.3 mill of our cap space......would be nice at 3.5-4......not 5.3....

Pominville 2.0 It's not a huge price to pay for a 28yo who has scored 40 before, but it isn't a long term culture change, that's for sure.
Taro T Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 Saw that as well. Wouldn't surprise me to see him play Center for us. I'm still looking for more stats/info. on when he played Center, how many games, etc... When he was in junior and the AHL he played center. Since he made the Bruins, it's been primarily as a RW.
Mox Posted February 28, 2011 Report Posted February 28, 2011 only 2 goals and 8 assists in the month of February.. I like the move, but it doesn't look spectacular other than the fact he's scored 40 before.
