X. Benedict Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Once when I was at RBC, I saw a father beat his son when Cam Ward let in a goal. Then he beat his wife because she looked like Brind'amore. (More understandable0 Then the folks in that section blamed Sabre fans.
Two or less Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 LOL Speaking of old memories, anyone remember WGR's "Redneck radio"? LOL! Now that was funny.
Sabre Dance Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Yeah but the Canes organization itself gets involved too. They hand out fan code of conduct cards at the gate while at the same time taking pot shots at Sabres fans and Buffalo on the scoreboard. It's bush league. Make no mistake, I have been to every Canes-Sabres game down here since 2002, and at every single one I have witnessed Sabres fans behaving poorly. There is no question that there are Sabres fans that act like jackasses at these games, but like you said they are no greater or fewer in number than with fans of of other teams. For some reason they single us out as Sabres fans to paint with the all inclusive brush. I do love knowing that I can put on my Sabres jersey, walk through the gates of the RBC center, not say a word, and annoy thousands of canes fanes though. You'd think that we won that series in 2006 with all the hate... Don't know if anyone else noticed it (or if was mentioned in another thread), but during the player introductions for the Skills Competition, the PA announcer said, "From the Florida Panthers, Tyler Ennis". Ennis had a semi-shocked look on his face, like maybe he thought he had been traded. (Of course, it could just be that the 'Canes PA announcer is a doofus. Before the All-Star Game, he said, "And now...here are your 2009 NHL All-Stars".)
eball Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 You may know who he is. Ever go to Blinco's? Nah, I live on the Chapel Hill side of the Triangle.

Taro T Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Hell yeah I'll be there!! Cant wait to wreak havoc at RBC. I'm right behind the Sabres bench so I'm trying to think of a good sign to make. Maybe a Taro Says or The boys are back in town. Any ideas?! Taro Sez: Buffalo Storms Raleigh as Huricanes Staaled, Boarding Up Carolina's Playoff Window Taro Sez: 'Canes Goalie Panick, Can't Ward off Buffalo Boyes & Vanek

henysgol Posted March 3, 2011 Report Posted March 3, 2011 Back in the pre-pillaging days, I think it was 2002, I went to a Canes-Sabres game and while I was waiting in line at the box office with my wife, a gentleman comes up to me and offers me two tickets. No charge. 100 level seats at the end the Sabres shot twice. What are the chances of that happening ever again to a Sabres fan down here? Now that's what I call synchronicity.
eball Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 Recap -- the crowd was very tame. Nice Buffalo support; a number of signs and probably 20-30% of the crowd was pro-Sabres. LOTS of empty seats.

LOTS of empty seats. I loved how every time I saw a Sabre fan on the broadcast (Carlina's broadcast), they were politely sitting there watching the game. I bet the Hurricane fans watching at home were picturing them as rabid animals.

X. Benedict Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 Throwing punches with one hand, eating a baby sandwich with the other? Is it me, or is it really hard to rape and pillage with an order of nachos in one hand?

I bet the Hurricane fans watching at home were picturing them as rabid animals. OMG was it me or were the Cane fans even more douchey than normal?! It's like we were all in our happy place reveling in the awesomeness that is Terry Pegula and they were complete ######. Not all of them bc I did meet some really cool Cane fans but the rest of them were just snarky and obnoxious.
dba4life Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 Had zero issues last night at the RBC. It was very tame.

COME ON, MAN! Recap -- the crowd was very tame. Nice Buffalo support; a number of signs and probably 20-30% of the crowd was pro-Sabres. LOTS of empty seats. Yeah, pretty tame. Turned out I was in a cluster with 6 other Sabres fans and a bunch of empty seats, seventh row to the right of the Sabres' bench. So no big issues. Just on d-bag behind me, who did not receive any heackling support from his three bros. Is it me, or is it really hard to rape and pillage with an order of nachos in one hand? BBQ PORK NACHOS? Delicious. And to answer your question: yes.
Stoner Posted March 4, 2011 Report Posted March 4, 2011 OK, fess up, who was that Sabre fan chugging toward the exit a moment after the OT goal? The Cane fans were waving at him. Pretty funny. It's probably the most exercise anyone from WNY has gotten since last July.

spndnchz Posted March 11, 2011 Report Posted March 11, 2011 I have a feeling there is going to be a LOT of blue and gold at RBC tonight. Just seeing how many tickets were still available earlier in the week...the place will be rocking. What's amazing is that many fans who would normally go to a Canes game actually stay away when the Sabres come to town, out of fear they'll be raped and pillaged, no doubt. It's hilarious. Look for me in 105...sporting my #70 "OOH AAH" white sweater. Is this You?
