I didn't get to see the game (not sure if it was televised or not) but man, did the country go crazy.

I remember celebrations happening everywhere after that game, and the sports news ran it all day long with highlights.

Great day to be sure. Alot of national pride that day.

CBC showed it live. ABC showed it on tape delay.

I was at a swim meet during the game, so had to watch the tape delay. But already knew the outcome by the time I got home, as they kept giving updates on the game at the swim meet. The place erupted every time they announced the US had scored. Cool memories. Hopefully, today will start some new ones 31 years to the day.

I was playing in a tournament in Peterborough. I'm sure we were getting our azzes handed to us, but hearing that they won was awesome. We were on the ice for the Gold Medal game, too. Mike Ramsey!!!!! One of my all-time favorite Sabres, and my favorite defenseman ever!

I was alive but Ive watched the original footage and the movie and wow I wish I had been there. Maybe there will be a miracle at HSBC today. Pegula could be that? maybe... 14 minutes "DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES.... YES YES!!!!"

Saw it live on CBC. Given the context of the times and how much tension there was between USA and USSR it seemed like a much bigger deal than just a hockey game. And it seemed kind of surreal to watch the American team coming back against the powerful USSR team. The gold medal game was almost anticlimatic after we beat the USSR team.

I still get chills when I see footage from the game.

I remember Irv Weinstein giving the news tease telling the game winner before before the delayed broadcast was over.

Which in my book was the biggest WKBW mistake of all-time.

Homeland hockey heroes hailed for commie conquest?

Still to this day pissed at Irv Weinstein for telling us between the 2d and 3rd period (with the US trailing 3-2), during a brief promo for the 11 clock news that the US won.

Seriously, what a f****** d***.

Game was played at around 5 pm Eastern and broadcast at about 8 or so...no Internet then kids, we just wouldn't have known.
