Drunkard Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a regional tv coverage map to see which game NBC will be playing in my area (I live in NC) on Sunday afternoon. I have the Center Ice package so I should be covered either way, but I wanted to be able to find out for some other friends and family that won't be able to make it to my house to watch. Any help would be appreciated. I've tried googling various phrases with no luck, I can't find anything on NBC's website, and my guide on Directv lists all 3 games.

You're best bet would be to ask the question on 'the 506.' That's the site with all the NFL broadcast maps. Their hockey site doesn't show maps (as you probably have already figured out). Linky If that doesn't work, I'd try asking your NBC affiliate as you probably wouldn't get a useful answer back from the nhl.com site.
LastPommerFan Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 Zap2It seems to have the regional broadcasts by affiliate. Just put in your zip and check your NBC affiliate at 12:30. zap2it

Hopefully they'll respond and let me know. I'm pretty sure the Sabres game will air down here since we're playing the Capitals and DC is the closest of the 6 cities to this area and they're a division rival of the Hurricanes, but I guess I'll find out.

Directv better provide me with the other feeds though since I have the Center Ice package but I guess everyone else is out of luck.
todzilla Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 Center Ice shows all the games on their schedule. It's a free week for Center Ice through Sunday, so if your other friends are DTV customers, they might be in luck.
Drunkard Posted February 17, 2011 Author Report Posted February 17, 2011 I just got an email back from my local NBC affiliate and the guy confirmed they're showing the Flyers vs. Rangers game. With the free Center Ice preview it should allow most people to watch the game anyway though. My parents have Time Warner but they're also offering the free preview. Thanks for the help guys.
Two or less Posted February 17, 2011 Report Posted February 17, 2011 I read the other day Sabres/Caps will be seen by 6% of the nation. So, if you're not in DC or WNY, don't expect the game. lol

I have DTV and Center Ice. These games are probably exclusive to NBC, so if it ain't on locally wherever you are (I'm in Cleveland), you're SOL. Bastards!

You may be right...I thought I saw them listed on the DTV website the other day, now there is nothing there......Hockey Day in America, where you can watch less games then most every other day during the season! What a deal.

What a deal. Yeah, if this is the case I'm gonna be one pissed off guy. They need to give up on trying to widen the appeal of hockey to non-fans and casual fans with stupid events like this if it's going to alienate us die hard fans. I don't want to be scrambling to find a streamed version of the feed online then be forced to watch it on my desktop computer in my spare bedroom rather than sitting comfortably on my couch, pounding beers, watching it on my flat screen, and shouting expletives the way god intended me to spend my Sunday. Get out of the hockey game NBC.
biodork Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Yeah, this is definitely annoying... it's good they are covering some of the games for people who don't normally watch, but NBC shouldn't have exclusive broadcast rights if they aren't actually going to show the entire game! I could see blacking-out the local game on CI, but the out-of-market games should still be available to paid subscribers. Glad I ended up buying tickets to see Sunday's game in person!
todzilla Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 This is where the networks/league, overestimate the product. Casual fans might watch, but I doubt it, certainly not all day like they do football. And then they screw the diehards. I won't sit around on a Sunday watching the Wings/Wild (I'm in Colorado) game hoping for them to cut in to the Sabres game once in awhile. They should put the other games on MSNBC or CNBC like they do with the Olympics, give fans a choice.
Two or less Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Here's a coverage map if anyone still wanted to see it- http://the506.com/sports/?p=1929 btw, nbcsports.com will air all games i believe.

One on NBC and one on USA for each timeslot.

They started the Sabres-Capitals here and then four minutes in cut to the Flyers-Rangers game. The game will be on in the background I'm not as interested in sitting here and watching them when I could be watching the Swords.
SabresOnTheWarpath Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 free preview of nhl gamecenter live @ nhl.com if anyone is having trouble watching the game
