inkman Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Vanek looked like he knew he was going to score. Absolutely pwned Price.
kishoph Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Great to see the team not lay down being back by 2, this game could be a huge confidence booster. Big game by ENROTH, he looked like he's ready to give the bigs a shot. OT and the shootout was super hockey to watch.
Wraith Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 It was a refreshing change of pace watching Enroth play last night. There are clearly still flaws in his game, pucks do not stick to that boy but at least he was kicking them well clear rather than leaving them in the slot or the crease. But he was also excelling at two things that Miller has struggled with this season: movement and tracking the puck. We've seen Miller struggle to get back into the net after committing hard to a deke or something and Enroth was very quick getting back into position. Also, we've seen Miller lose a lot of pucks after weird bounces and such and Enroth always seemed to know where the puck was. I enjoyed watching him and I hope he gets used a few more times this season.
DR HOLLIDAY Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 We've seen Miller struggle to get back into the net after committing hard to a deke or something and Enroth was very quick getting back into position. This is why I think that he might be carrying an injury.
spndnchz Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 good or bad the leafs won tonite???? meh. Good 4 tomorrow maybe. Sabres did overtake Atlanta with this win. Vanek looked like he knew he was going to score. Absolutely pwned Price. Seemed like he just strolled in, "hey, there's a spot" BING! He doesn't score there, we were dun.
plenzmd1 Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Let's not forget Timmy on the PK at the end either. He looked really good as well. I hate to say it, but he has been playing like he actually cares since the break. That shot block last night reminded me of the time Max went to the ice to block that shot agaisn't Carolina in the playoffs way back when.. Not sure what to do with him now

LabattBlue Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Trade him. I'd prefer to trade him at the deadline, but all that matters to me is that he is not here in 11-12.
wonderbread Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I'd prefer to trade him at the deadline, but all that matters to me is that he is not here in 11-12. I'd put the odds on him not being with the team for 2011-2012 at around 65%-75%. For the remainder of the season its probably much lower something like 10%-20%.

He's been a shot blocking machine on the 3 man kill all season. You've got to care to do that. I don't know why he was so invisible offensively for a while but he seems to have gotten over that.
Wraith Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 This is why I think that he might be carrying an injury. Agreed.
Tyrannustyrannus Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I won't say Miller wouldn't have won that game, but I'm sure we can all agree that Lalime wouldn't have. Enroth should stay up as our #2, especially if we pull of this Playoff Push.
Stoner Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Let's not forget Timmy on the PK at the end either. He looked really good as well. How bout his legs churning at center in OT? You wonder if that building is a double edged sword for the Habs. It has to be great to play 41 games in that atmosphere, but how tight can it get you? And when you see TC's hustling through center like that, does it actually pick up the road team more than usual?
JujuFish Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Apparently winning a shootout when your opponent scores the first two shootout goals is pretty rare. Buffalo became only the 2nd team to do so last night, and the first to do it on the road.
Realist Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I went back and read this entire thread from where I left off yesterday before the game. One question I have, why does anyone argue with DeLuca? Just let him rant. :)
SabresFan526 Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I'd put the odds on him not being with the team for 2011-2012 at around 65%-75%. For the remainder of the season its probably much lower something like 10%-20%. I think it's tough to trade him right now as you don't want to upset the chemistry of the team too much and his line with Stafford and Ennis has really been producing. So, I don't think Connolly gets traded at the deadline. Having said that, his dad's high school buddy, Larry Quinn, will no longer be with the Sabres meaning, he's gone by next year. I honestly believe that the reason Tim Connolly has continued to play for the Sabres this long is because Larry Quinn is friends with Connolly's dad. There can be no other plausible explanation. I think if it were up to Regier, he would have gotten rid of Connolly a long time ago, but his hands were tied by Quinn and his friendship to Connolly's dad. I seriously believe this to be the case.
carpandean Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I'd prefer to trade him at the deadline, but all that matters to me is that he is not here in 11-12. I was at the Islanders game with my brother and after Timmy got an assist, I turned to him and said "good, Timmy needs the points to up his trade value at the deadline."
X. Benedict Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Pominville is playing well, BTW. He's been at a point per game for a month.
sabre snipe Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Jhonas enstrom is our future goalie, boy what a show did he put on last night. Hey, I wonder if he's a brother of Toby? Maybe we can swing a trade for him.... http://www.nhl.com/ice/m_preview.htm?id=2010020855 If ur mention his name 3 times, at least make sure it is right..

I don't know why he was so invisible offensively for a while but he seems to have gotten over that. I have not seen that, not saying it is not so, as sometimes I FF through the game as I rarely catch them live. (As an example, watched this one at 4 AM) That block to me came out of nowhere..and gave me the exact feeling when Max went "out of character"...God, pumped for todays game
nfreeman Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Here's something else I noticed about last night's game: VS has really taken a step up in production quality. I think I read about a major shakeup in their hockey production team a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was noticeable last night. Pierre McGuire is a bit of a blowhard, IMHO, but he is very knowledgeable and overall I like having him as part of the broadcast team between the benches. Gord Miller, who is TSN's top announcer, is a big improvement over Beninati. I also thought the use of replays, stats on the screen, not having annoying promos during the action, etc., was all greatly improved. Separately, I think that win can fairly be described as "epic."

It has to be great to play 41 games in that atmosphere, but how tight can it get you? And when you see TC's hustling through center like that, does it actually pick up the road team more than usual? great, great point. there are probably a few barns like that in the league -- montreal's bell/forum, MSG, air canada/MLG. does this potentially play in other sports? do the celts and knicks have to endure more inspired road efforts than the 76ers? football is a different animal. if you have a house of horrors as your home stadium, that's playing to your advantage.

X. Benedict Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 On of the great pleasure's of Hockey, and the Sabres playing with Montreal in the division is seeing what Red Fisher (84 y.o) is going to write. "The Sabres, with rare exceptions, looked disinterested, but the guy who caught my eye was Nathan Gerbe. He didn't stop working from start to finish and it was only right that he would have an assist on the third-period goal that sent this game into overtime and onward to The Gimmick. When one of the very few players on your team skating tall is the NHL's shortest (5-foot-5 Gerbe), you've got a problem." Fisher constantly refers to the shootout as the Gimmick  Read more: http://www.montrealgazette.com/sports/Canadiens+lose+interest+after+going/4291425/story.html#ixzz1E90t1Ilr
shrader Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I finally got around to watching that shootout. Notice that every single goal beat Price in essentially the same spot.
