thesportsbuff Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 What's Enroth's trade value right now to a team like the Islanders / Toronto?
JujuFish Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Enroth is definitely a NHL caliber goalie. He's had several great games already where he's saved us. Tonight, against Toronto, against Pittsburgh (the 1-0 loss)... Enroth is very impressive. While he definitely had a good game against Pittsburgh, I'm not sure how a regulation loss "saved" us.
SDS Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Yeah I know, but the reason our backup doesn't play is because the coach has no confidence in him. I wouldn't mind keeping Enroth up here and playing him every 3 or 4 games. that's fine, but it is impossible to say how he would have played tonight without all the work in Portland.
Iron Crotch Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Darcy and Ruff need to stop playing games and make a move with Enroth. this isnt the first time he's saved us during the shootout. A little more NHL level conditioning and Enroth will be recognized as the beast he is. Buffalo needs stronger D in general but could you imagine a defined defense accompanied by Miller and Enroth. Killer! Yeah, it seems like time. No one has any confidence in Lalime and down the stretch it'd be comforting to have a competent backup like Enroth. I don't mind him down in Portland to get playing time early in the season, but the last quarter of the season he should be up with the big club. BTW - Leggio is playing really well down on the farm
wnyguy Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 that's fine, but it is impossible to say how he would have played tonight without all the work in Portland. Right again, but I'm talking about this current time in place. He's got all the work in Portland so far, why not keep him up here and play the kid every 4th game?

Killer! I agree. All you have to do is look at the tandem in Vancouver and how well thats working out for Luongo. Schneider rarely loses a game when he steps in and the Canucks know they can trust him. There's no talk in Vancouver of schneider needing time in manitoba to properly develop. Luongo gets the rest he needs in the process. Miller would be so much sharper if rested properly. Great win tonight and an exciting game to watch!
DFITZ1 Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Who is our number one goalie? Easy question - Miller. Easier question - who should be our #2 goalie - Enroth; Less easy but not too hard question - what split of games is best - Enroth 1 out of 3?
PromoTheRobot Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 To all those who said it couldn't happen.... Sabres win and 'Canes loss Wednesday = 8th PTR
SabresFan526 Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 that's fine, but it is impossible to say how he would have played tonight without all the work in Portland. I would not disagree with you or dispute what you are saying. However, I do think based on his level of play, he's ready to be an NHL goalie and should be up in Buffalo as he is an upgrade over Lalime. I agree that he'll get more playing time in Portland, no one would argue that. However, I think if he's at the NHL level, Lindy may have second thoughts about playing Miller in back-to-backs and give Miller more rest than he's had all year. Either way, there is no need to sign a backup goalie for next year. Enroth is an upgrade over the Sabres current backup and probably cheaper than a backup that would be available on the open market. Give him a shot to learn at the NHL level and play 20-25 games next year.
Lanny Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Yeah I know, but the reason our backup doesn't play is because the coach has no confidence in him. I wouldn't mind keeping Enroth up here and playing him every 3 or 4 games. But even then, is that enough to continue a 22 year old goalies development, or are you hindering?
inkman Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Are you sure the two events were related? This time.
wnyguy Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 But even then, is that enough to continue a 22 year old goalies development, or are you hindering? I don't think it would be a hindrance if you actually played him every 4th game. Of course if Lindy never played him it would become a big hindrance and a waste of talent.
darksabre Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Forget that. May I quote you? I like hockey. Only if you're not inserting it into a post you had written in the second period.

Schneider's also 2 years older than Enroth and has had more time to develop.
ThePebble19 Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 To all those who said it couldn't happen.... Sabres win and 'Canes loss Wednesday = 8th PTR Good stuff, if only the season ended on Wednesday. ;) Glad to be back in it.
wnyguy Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Ok. it was just a thought I had. Maybe it was a bad one.
bunomatic Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Schneider's also 2 years older than Enroth and has had more time to develop. True but people mature differently and development comes faster for some than others.
Kelly the Dog Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 How often do you see three separate times a Sabres has to score or the game is over and all three nail it. Especially the two youngsters. Huge, huge goals by Ennis and Gerbe obviously. Vanek's was clutch as well. I think they should map out the games they want to rest Miller and coincide them with Portland games so Enroth doesn't have to play back to back either when he is brought up each time. Keep him sharp playing in Portland and keep Lalime off the ice.
PromoTheRobot Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Good stuff, if only the season ended on Wednesday. ;) Glad to be back in it. Who thought we'd ever be back here after our start? I know, still a way to go. PTR
TheMatrix31 Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Even if we don't "make it"....I'm just glad to be playing meaningful, exciting games. The season would be much more boring to go through if we stayed on the course and ended up one of the worst teams in the league.

nfreeman Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Yep, that is correct. I was almost foiled with 1:30 left in regulation...The wife had Parenthood and Teen Mom 2 set up to tape on the DVR, and it swapped channels on me. The Valentine's Day nice husband routine is over, Teen Mom 2 met it's demise immediately... very nice. Are you sure the two events were related? another one. I loved the fact that Gerbe and Ennis were solid in the shootout..I expected them to score not hoped before they went in to shoot.. This was a really good win, the kind that gives a young team some real good confidence...Onto the Maple Laffs... Come back more often! Also, you need to reload the dancing banana avatar. I agree. To all those who said it couldn't happen.... Sabres win and 'Canes loss Wednesday = 8th PTR Outstanding. That was a great win. It has to be said -- in a big road division game, the Sabres played with a tremendous amount of heart, and they were led back to the win by none other than their much-maligned top 6. Vanek set up Stafford on the 1st goal, Hecht set up Pommer on the 2nd goal, Vanek scored a do-or-die goal in the shootout, and Hecht took them home in the shootout. And Enroth was freaking awesome. I'm fairly certain Lalime will not start another game as a Sabre unless Miller or Enroth is hurt for an extended period. Go Sabres.

He looked really good as well.
LaLaLaFontaine Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Great game. They fought their way back. This is the team we all want to see. If Ryan Miller gets some more breaks and find a way to his superstar performance we will be a real playoff contender. Go get the cup! LaLaLafontaine
