bob_sauve28 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Thanks for showing up today Miller. Maybe if we had a backup goalie Ruff wouldn't be afraid to play Lalime. Ethron proved he can win at this level he should be getting a few starts
deluca67 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 If Stafford gets another hat trick before the trade deadline - I'll say the Sabres should keep him for the playoff run. Nice job picking up Grabner. I was hoping he would slip through and I could pick him back up.
deluca67 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Rip my heart out Buffalo. How do you score 6 goals against quite possibly the worst NHL team and still lose? You might want to watch some more Islander games. If they had any goal-tending they would right there fighting for 8th.
Iron Crotch Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Give a little credit to the Isles. They've won 4 of 5 and have scored 16 goals in their last 2 games. On another note, Miller gave up a couple of softies, but our defense wasn't exactly air tight either.
darksabre Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Ethron proved he can win at this level he should be getting a few starts I would agree. Lalime should have been waived and ETHRON brought up to the big leagues. He played well this year.
Kristian Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 I had this pegged for a game where the Sabres could come out and show everyone they're for real, when it comes to turning a corner. Instead, they came out and expected the Isles to lay down for them, just like they always do when they've won a few games in a row. This leopard definitely can't change it's spots.
JJFIVEOH Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Miller points fingers all year long when he doesn't get support, his teammates dame well better be blaming him for this game!
Stoner Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 I just watched it again in super slo-mo. In no way what-so-ever was that an elbow. None. I didn't say it was.
Stoner Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 What percentage of 2 goal leads does this team goalie piss away? Correctomundo.

They had a chance to hit .500 and couldn't get it done. Realistically, if the Islanders would have came into the game with even an average NHL goalie this game is a blowout.
thesportsbuff Posted February 13, 2011 Author Report Posted February 13, 2011 How is Miller left in to give up 7 goals? If Lindy has that little faith in the backups than Regier needs to have a new backup on the roster by Tuesday night. More than that dude. I'm ###### furious. Patrick Lalime better be WAIVED, in PORTLAND, BOUGHT OUT, or FORCED TO RETIRE by Tuesday night. What a ###### joke. That's all I have to say about it. Tonight was living proof that Miller is tired out. No more "what if" or "when" Miller gets worn out, he clearly is. He was awful all game long. Good for Regier granting Miller his wish of keeping great locker room motivator Patrick Lalime around. Prime example why you don't let your superstars make the decisions. And what a failure by the front office to not have addressed the issue yet -- it's not like Patrick Lalime sucking too bad to earn a start is a new story.
nobody Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Nice job picking up Grabner. I was hoping he would slip through and I could pick him back up. His hat trick didn't help me at all - you've had my number all week. For the Sabres sake, I would have been happier if he got no goals today.
JJFIVEOH Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 4 on 4 in OT and Lindy has two defensemen plus Hecht out there? TWICE?
Kristian Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 4 on 4 in OT and Lindy has two defensemen plus Hecht out there? TWICE? Hey, there's at least 10 teams just waiting to fire their current coaches to pick him up, once he leaves here. /sarcasm off
kishoph Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Terrible game by MILLER, but I put the blame on LINDY (nothing new from me), you can't ride a goalie like this, he may feel good mentally, but fatigue sets in, he should of been given a break 3 games ago. I don't go for the "we don't have a good enough back up, LALIME can win, if given some offensive support, then again who knows how rusty he would be after not playing for so long. I'm really tired of seeing this coach making moronic moves that is costing this team success. LINDY must go! :wallbash:
deluca67 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 His hat trick didn't help me at all - you've had my number all week. For the Sabres sake, I would have been happier if he got no goals today. The Islanders are going to be a good team really soon, if they are not already.
JohnRobertEichel Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Enough with the "Miller just needs a rest" excuses. Unless we have a superstar team, we will never win a cup with this choke artist. We all want to trade Stafford....well how about Miller?
Stoner Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Miller points fingers all year long when he doesn't get support, his teammates dame well better be blaming him for this game! Perfect.
deluca67 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Considering how hot Stafford is this season, shouldn't he more than a +2 for the season?
nobody Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 The front office, to some degree, caved in to Miller's wishes and brought back Lalime.
thesportsbuff Posted February 13, 2011 Author Report Posted February 13, 2011 Also, as good as Stafford has been he single-handedly sabotaged the Sabres powerplay with the game on the line (1:45 to go). Two cough-ups in the same spot on the ice resulted in dump ins, regroups, and a line change -- effectively killed the first 40 seconds - 1 minute.
deluca67 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 The front office, to some degree, caved in to Miller's wishes and brought back Lalime. Maybe Miller wants Lalime around so he can play more? Knowing that Llaime sucks and that he will have to play 70 games as long as Lalime is the backup goalie.

We all want to trade Stafford....well how about Miller? Choke artist? Calm down. Miller is a good goaltender but he is playing like he looks tired. Shaky focus, bad movement in the crease, and sloppy goals all point to fatigue. We all know that Miller can play good hockey, but I don't doubt he is tired and likely battling at least one injury if not more. You don't play this many games and don't get a little bit banged up. Miller needs to be rested. Period.
Kelly the Dog Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Hard to say any single game is a bellwether for the rest of the season but this Tuesday on the road against Montreal may give us some indication on if this team is really a pretender or not. I expect Lindy to play Miller again, rest him on Wed, and then probably play him the Fri and sunday. He needs to play well.
bob_sauve28 Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 Somehow I'm not feeling real good about Tuesday nights match up of Miller vs Price
