Eleven Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Have at it. I'll start: Connolly for anyone who can be a legit top-six forward, especially a C, and yes, I realize that the Sabres will have to give up another player/prospect or two in the deal.
darksabre Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Brent Johnson for when Miller pulls his groin in the playoffs.
Derrico Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 I'm hoping for a top centre and top defensman.
LaLaLaFontaine Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 I would like to see a trade for the injured Malkin. Because of his injury he may be not as expensive as without it, and with a little luck he will be a superstar again. I dream of a center like Pavel Datsyuk, but i know that this is impossible ( unless we get Malkin and he comes back). When we had Pat Lafontaine we really had a superstar. Maybe we find someone like him again. Also a defense man like Lidström, only a little younger would be nice, but this is also only a dream of mine. I do not know what is on the market. The TSN list is a liitle boring and not interesting for me. Maybe someone of you folks knows more. LaLaLafontaine
Marvelo Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 I'd like to see them shed the following players: Hecht, Grier, Connolly, Gaustad, Niedermayer,Rivet, Lalime. Seeing how well they're doing without Roy makes me think that we can package Roy and a few of the above and get someone like Brad Richards. (in the offseason) I'd like a Jack Johnson too. I've heard rumors about moving Ryan Miller to Detroit but i doubt that ever happens.
dumb_dumb88 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Would like the Sabres to pitch a trade for Rob Schremp from the Islanders. Built in the mold of Derek Roy at 5'10", 184 lbs. Wouldn't mind seeing him center for Vanek and Pomms or Ennis and Stafford. He's cheap, an RFA and could possibily find some chemistry here in Buffalo. He has been playing 3rd and 4th line duty with the Islanders. He's a low risk, high reward pickup. With Nielson and Taveres centering the top 2 lines with the Islanders It may be worth it to throw a mid level prospect (Gragnani or maybe even Mancari) with a conditional at them. Anyways, just my thoughts on trying to find a center, even short term.
wonderbread Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 I'd like to see them sign a competent back up.
inkman Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Gragnani & Mancari are no longer prospects.

Trade for Kings best defenseman behind Doughty. ...and let's substantiate a BS rumor about Miller and Detroit started 5 years ago.
dumb_dumb88 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Gragnani & Mancari are no longer prospects. Ah, ok, thanks. Then maybe we offer a guy like Brennan or Persson and a conditional.

LaLaLafontaine Yes, I watched the Detroit game last night, too  Toss in a Fronzen and a Zetterburg, too!

Skibum Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Connolly to PHX for LaBarbera and a pick. The Coyotes are desperately weak at center and LaBarbera is the consummate backup tender. That leaves us short a center - throw Byron in the fire or make another trade that I can't come up with right now. Lets face it, we're not winning the cup this year either way. Now that I think about it, Timmy's awful lucky Roy is hurt. Maybe that situation makes him untradeable.
dumb_dumb88 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 I like it. Gerbe and Ennis could join the Schremp line. I think Schremp would be the biggest player on a line like that.
Two or less Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Have at it. I'll start: Connolly for anyone who can be a legit top-six forward, especially a C, and yes, I realize that the Sabres will have to give up another player/prospect or two in the deal. I'm assuming you're talking about deadline day? I want Sabres to make some moves but i want them to keep it simple. -Zenon Konopka from the Isles would be my #1 priority. The east is very big and physical and this guy is mean. He will hit, good skater and good fighter. Bad hands, but so what? I like the grit Sabres play right now, but they need more of it. -Nick Foligno. I heard this rumor and like it. He can play on a second line, is prolly capped out at like 20goal player but he doesn't play with too many good players in Ottawa. He's a PK and PP guy, hits and plays the corners well, a Lindy Ruff player all the way. Small moves. Simple and on the cheap side. Big moves are for the off-season, not February. Add size and grit.
salford12 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Connolly, Pominville and Montador or Butler for Brad Richards...throw big time $$ at Richards to sign as conditional part of the trade and hand him a sweater with a C on the front upon his plane landing in Buffalo.
beerme1 Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 I'd like to see them shed the following players: Hecht, Grier, Connolly, Gaustad, Niedermayer,Rivet, Lalime. Wow 7 guys and I agree with all of them by the way, and Darcy has a job? An extension even! I would add to that list one Derek Roy and Pommer too. There is a chance Grier and or Nieder just absolutely show up in the playoffs. But I think Grier has hit the wall and Nieder well nevermind. How the hell is he not being benched?

Saw the quote as well. Sounds interesting, especially with Marcus in the pipeline. I would caution however, Nick Foligno is in no way a 2nd line guy. His skill set has always been as a shutdown forward. More of a very solid 3rd line winger. But, YES PLEASE, to his services.
Lanny Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Connolly, Pominville and Montador or Butler for Brad Richards...throw big time $$ at Richards to sign as conditional part of the trade and hand him a sweater with a C on the front upon his plane landing in Buffalo. Dallas is leading their division and I doubt their going to trade a rental and get back 2 rentals. I guess you could say having Pominville for next year is better than having no Richards but with his cap hit I'm not sure all teams would view it that way. Also, they may get a look at it this year and Richards is a big part of that. I think if they're trading Richards it's going to have to be for an amazing package of picks and prospects.
nucci Posted February 12, 2011 Report Posted February 12, 2011 Since when does Connolly have all this value? He is no longer effective and is an UFA at the end of the year. How much do you think we can get in return?

rickshaw Posted February 13, 2011 Report Posted February 13, 2011 I'd still move Miller. Enroth, I believe, has a brighter future but we might never see it in Buffalo. Miller could fetch us some quality.

Miller could fetch us some quality. A move like that takes stones that this front office just doesn't have. It would go a long way towards changing the makeup of the team.

Miller could fetch us some quality. If Enroth was posting dominant or even decent AHL numbers I might agree, but a 2.82 GAA in his 3rd year facing AHL competition doesn't scream future franchise goalie. I don't mind the notion of trading Miller, but not with Enroth as the plan in goal if that deal is made. http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=84558
