spndnchz Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Was at practice today. Yeah, we still play hockey in Buffalo. Lines Vanek-Hecht-Pominville Gerbe-Connolly-McCormick Niedermayer-Gaustad-Grier/Kaleta
Lanny Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 so Ennis-Byron-Stafford still together? Did Ellis go back down?
spndnchz Posted February 3, 2011 Author Report Posted February 3, 2011 so Ennis-Byron-Stafford still together? Did Ellis go back down? He went down before the break (along with Byron). Connolly is good to go, so no Ellis.
X. Benedict Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 He went down before the break (along with Byron). Connolly is good to go, so no Ellis. Too bad Ellis has such a limited skill set. He works his ass off every shift.
Derrico Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Was at practice today. Yeah, we still play hockey in Buffalo. Lines Vanek-Hecht-Pominville Gerbe-Connolly-McCormick Niedermayer-Gaustad-Grier/Kaleta Wow. I'm as pumped as anybody about Pegula and I hate to come back to the reality of this season. We have no business making the playoffs with a lineup such as that.
Two or less Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Wow. I'm as pumped as anybody about Pegula and I hate to come back to the reality of this season. We have no business making the playoffs with a lineup such as that. Agreed, and hats off to Lindy Ruff, for somehow hammering down a system that allows those guys to win. They will need to really pick their games up, their record against top 8 in the east and their record against starting goalies are both pathetic. I forget what it is, but Mike Harrington recently said it. Like embarrassing bad.

Lines Vanek-Hecht-Pominville Gerbe-Connolly-McCormick Niedermayer-Gaustad-Grier/Kaleta Could have fooled me... Pittsburgh will be on their 3rd game in four days and our Sabres haven't cracked the ice since Jan 25th.. There can be NO EXCUSE for not winning in Pittsburgh on Friday.

There can be NO EXCUSE for not winning in Pittsburgh on Friday. The Sabres don't need an excuse to lose, they just do it.
bob_sauve28 Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Too bad Ellis has such a limited skill set. He works his ass off every shift. I cannot see why he doesn't play instead of Neidermyer
cpabob Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Connolly is good to go relatively speaking, you mean.
spndnchz Posted February 3, 2011 Author Report Posted February 3, 2011 relatively speaking, you mean. Multiple meanings there.
CallawaySabres Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 The ONLY reason Connolly can possibly be playing is trade value which he has none of right now...
cpabob Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Multiple meanings there. Bingo. On a serious note, as excited as I am about TP, the exorcism will not be complete until Tin Man Timmy is a Sabre no more. Just cannot stand him. He makes Pierre Turgeon seem like a grinder.
LabattBlue Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 I cannot see why he doesn't play instead of Neidermyer Just another case of Lindy mailing it in and further proof as to why he should not be brought back in 11-12. There is no logical reason for Niedermayer to continue to be penciled into the lineup, when he has contributed next to nothing in all phases of the game.
Robviously Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Was at practice today. Yeah, we still play hockey in Buffalo. Wait, what? I thought the season was over. The team stopped playing hockey like 8 weeks ago and now they're having a big end of season press conference today to talk about selling the team.
Stoner Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Agreed, and hats off to Lindy Ruff, for somehow hammering down a system that allows those guys to win. They will need to really pick their games up, their record against top 8 in the east and their record against starting goalies are both pathetic. I forget what it is, but Mike Harrington recently said it. Like embarrassing bad. Yes, well done Lindy. Taking a team he thought had contending talent all the way to 10th place in the conference.
nfreeman Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Yes, well done Lindy. Taking a team he thought had contending talent all the way to 10th place in the conference. Since you've posted this meme about 400 times, I feel compelled to ask again: is it possible that he didn't really think it, and that these statements were a coaching tactic designed to raise the players' expectations and goals? i.e. isn't it possible that he picked up the same deflated, defeatist vibe from the players that all of us had following yet another pathetic offseason, and made the statements to try to get the players to think and act like they didn't need any offseason help? Isn't this the kind of thing coaches commonly do? Even though I'm a supporter of Lindy's, I will certainly admit that there are valid grounds on which to criticize him. This isn't one of them.
X. Benedict Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 The ONLY reason Connolly can possibly be playing is trade value which he has none of right now... He'll have trade value. Finding depth Centers, especially one that can play any unit, is at a premium come deadline.
will Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 is it possible that he didn't really think it, and that these statements were a coaching tactic designed to raise the players' expectations and goals? can you imagine lindy at the pre-season presser..."we're going nowhere fast with this group of has-beens and never-will be guys. don't waste your coin on tickets, folks, watch this 10th place heartbreaking disaster from the comfort of your own homes this year." "i almost forgot...ryan miller this, tyler myers that, miller miller, miller. buy some swag. peace, out."
VansTheMans Posted February 3, 2011 Report Posted February 3, 2011 Good. I like Byron. Agreed. He's a quality prospect. Love the aggressive forechecking I've seen from him thus far. Other Sabres forwards should take note. They need to play with some damn enthusiasm.
wjag Posted February 4, 2011 Report Posted February 4, 2011 Just another case of Lindy mailing it in and further proof as to why he should not be brought back in 11-12. There is no logical reason for Niedermayer to continue to be penciled into the lineup, when he has contributed next to nothing in all phases of the game. So you went with Nieds under 3.5 did you?
