JJFIVEOH Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 Why is it we've heard so little about this? I heard it mentioned during the all-star game and that's been it. Why is it the NHL put so much emphasis on the Winter Classic yet they've done so little to advertise for this game? I consider myself a pretty avid hockey fan and I'll admit I never even heard about this years game until this week. http://www.nhl.com/ice/eventhome.htm?location=/heritageclassic/2011
thesportsbuff Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 I wondered the same thing. I remember hearing about it before the season but there has been absolutely no media hype or coverage about it in the US. I can't speak for Canada but other than a couple references on hockey radio shows, I've seen and heard very little about it.

We're all going to watch it anyway, but those fringe fans that find the Winter Classic (between two cities they know) kinda neat on New Year's day aren't.

Yeah, the vast majority of this country won't care about a game between two canadian teams. The Americans who do care, already know about the game, so it's a waste of money to try to push it down here.
