bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 Just wondering with all the Sabres fans in Raleigh how many are going ot all star game?
Realist Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 Just got back an hour ago. Great time, they were really just trying to set each other up every time down the ice. All in all it was a lot of fun.
weehawk Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 I'm a Canes season ticket holder and we passed on it. The cheap seats were $200 each for just the All-Star Game. The Skills Competition was another $65 each. Add parking, partying, etc and you're looking at close to a $750 weekend. I only paid $1100 for a PAIR of full season tickets. I cant speak for anyone else and I wont pass judgment on others that went. However, this seems silly to me for an exhibition game that was on TV. This just goes hand-in-hand with the cost of entertainment now. Sports, concerts, any type of live event is just ridiculously expensive for what you get in return. I remember only paying $300 for a pair of game 2 tickets to the Sabres vs Stars finals game in BUF. Now an exhibition game costs more?? Crazy!

I saw an interview with Canes fans that were claiming they were getting along with everyone except "those buffalo fans" Did ya see any of that?? How long have ya had Canes season tickets
Realist Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 I saw an interview with Canes fans that were claiming they were getting along with everyone except "those buffalo fans" Did ya see any of that?? How long have ya had Canes season tickets I'll tell you something, I wore my jersey to the Skills competition and got several remarks about "Buffalo Sucks", "Do the Sabres even have anyone here?", etc. I didn't wear it to the game. And its not because I said anything, these were things being said as I was walking in the corridors. I'm going to the game tomorrow night, I need to wear my neighbor's Bruins jersey and see how I'm treated with that on. I seriously have no idea why we are hated by the 'canes fans to this degree. They beat us in the playoffs, we only play them 4 times a year...I don't get it.
ThePebble19 Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 I got tossed some free tickets to the AHL All Star Game in Hershey tonight, so I am heading up with my son after work. Should be a decent time...probably won't stay for the whole thing, but I've never been to an All Star event of any type before.

From the remarks in hallway to the jumbotron operator. Please report on your dealings as a Bruins fan.

From the remarks in hallway to the jumbotron operator. Please report on your dealings as a Bruins fan. I didn't go nor did I watch it on TV, that game is a joke. I might have gone if someone gave me free tickets and drink vouchers. I tell my friends back in Buffalo about the level of disdain at the RBC center and they don't believe me. The scoreboard treatment I know is unique to Sabres games, I have been to Canes games against many other teams and have paid particular attention to the scoreboard, none of that nonsense occurs with other teams. My son is in kindergarten and Wednesday is wear your favorite sports team shirt and he will be wearing his Sabres jersey. I wonder if he'll get beat up?

I am sure the kids will be ok its the parents ya will need to worry about. Just don't understand the disdain but seemed to start right after game 1 of 2006 finals when the Buffalo fans outshouted and out cheered the wine and cheese crowd. Along with of course all the raping and other deeds that allegedly occurred.

Yes game 1 in 2006 was clearly the start and we do joke around here about the raping and pillaging, but I have often thought about why it's so much worse for Sabres fans. When teams like Pittsburgh, Toronto and Boston come to town there are as many if not more of their rowdy fans in attendance. I have learned to embrace the hate during the games. The simple wearing of a jersey and the level of annoyance it brings is a beautiful thing.

bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted February 2, 2011 Author Report Posted February 2, 2011 Hoping to have Box Seats for that one. Are you inviting us as well?
ThePebble19 Posted February 2, 2011 Report Posted February 2, 2011 The AHL All Star game was pretty fun. I only stayed for about half of the game, because my son was tired and wanted to go home, but it was a pretty cool experience. The mascots were the best part by far...they were beating the crap out of each other in the aisles the whole game...then they played a mascot game during the first intermission...classic fun.
