With this GM? If he came back after the ASG and played well he would get a frigging extension. I don't want to risk that.

Now that made me laugh,.. and then cry.

I realize you are half-jesting, but there is no way TC gets an extension without TP's approval.

God I hope you're wrong. I want our new G.M. to be free from interference from the new owner. The 'alleged' interference from Quinn is too much to bare as it is. We don't need nor do we deserve another wang like on long island.

I should add that I also want rid of Tim Connolly

I agree. Sekera never pushed him into Miller he stood back and watched him interfere with Miller which was worse. Foligno got the benefit of the no call and Miller got jobbed. That being said Miller pulled a bonehead move to put us down a man in the first place.

THE most overlooked aspect of the whole issue.

SABRES have swelled to 18.3% chance to make playoffs.. 18!!! I say get the grill fired up...

Need some more help..

Islanders over Canes

Bruins over Panthers

Caps over Thrashers

I'd have to think whether I'd want Islanders or Bruins to win more?

Just a comment without reading everything on the board.

Dan Dunleavy is a great announcer. I really liked him, in that he didn't annoy me like some other team's announcers. Could he be the future announcer for the Sabres?

Absolutely goaltender interference on the Sens' 2nd goal. Unreal.

Glad they pulled it out. 3 and 0 in Ottawa this year.

Carolina is ahead of us; the Panthers are at best tied with us. My first choice would be to see Carolina lose. Of course, both losing would be best.

We all know what will happen, though. Each of the three we want to lose will tie it late, not only winning, but giving the Bruins and Caps (who cares about the Islanders) an extra point.

i thought he was solid if unspectacular.

the one thing i have been trying to confirm: did dunleavy first call morrisonn by the correct name, but then when he said his name for emphasis call him "florison" on the ot winner? i swear he did.

Live, he called "Florence Henderson." It was edited out later, badly, by an intern.

I didn't mind Dunleavy. Sounds like a real pro. But not a lot of personality there. Then again, you're gonna tone down your call so as not to seem overly anxious to take Rick's job.

If only we could combine Mark J.'s uncanny ability to follow the game (inherited!), Paul's eye for the game inside the game and Dunleavy's voice. And add a bit of kookiness that the one guy, from Toronto, I believe, brought.

Maybe you need to show the Sekera crosschecks beforehand.....and Foligno going back at Sekera at the time of the contact. He didn't aim for Miller, he was collateral damage. Penalty? Sure....if you want. I wouldn't call it, especially at full speed after watching Miller act like a jagoff seconds earlier and Sekera putting the stick to Foligno. 90% of Foligno's energy was directing towards Sekera.

I really don't care.....my skin just crawls watching Ruff go into whiner mode and Miller going into a huff. Again, the Sabres don't have anyone who can dictate play. Back in the day if you felt you got jobbed, you send out a crash line and drive every guy through the boards with clean hits. The ref knows he owes it to you and you take control. That's not even an option for Lindy, except for sending his goons out against Spezza/Heatley/and a goalie 5 years ago. Ooooh....tough!

Honestly, I think this perspective has nothing to do with the play.

Ottawa didn't hurt Miller, they only interfered. Dictate play on a PK? What team does that? Any Buffalo-centered perspective aside, a ref makes that call 95% of the time.

But what would life be if we all thought alike...

It's a common sense call.

Sekera was rubbin on Foligno into the crease.

Floigno went back at Sekera from the position he was now pushed into and brushed Miller in doing so as the puck was wafing by.

Miller had just come out of his crease and did a Grim Reaper husking on a player.

Those 3 important facts take a ref that would call that 50% of the time to a ref that calls it 10% of the time. I wouldn't have called it.

The dictate play part comes after the goal. If you feel you were jobbed....take your agression out on the other team in a forceful but legal way. Make your point that if you aren't going to call it one way...you better not fault us for going through a wall. You wanna play? Let's play.

Sabres aren't capable of doing that. Whining and crying is all they can do. That's why I don't take it seriously, and that's probably why many a ref won't take them seriously. Are you going to give the call to a guy you respect like Foligno? Or to Euro-D, Mr. WTF Wave, and Grumblin Ruff? Miller probably had a smarmy comment after the penalty on him for all we know.

If a guy was bearing down the net and goes right for Miller....call it.

Quite a narrative for one call...

Rule of thumb - was every reasonable attempt made to avoid contact with the keeper? Clearly not in this case, Foligno initiated. You don't get continuation on prior jostling.

I think any keeper/coach goes ape-poop on that call at any level.

Especially on a kill.

Anyway.....I don't know if anyone mentioned it...But I would be worried about Kovalev's vision from that puck he took...how could he miss Morrison walking in?

Fascinating to know the Sabres are 3-0 on Ottawa. That air of superiority vanished over night. Does a soul good to know Ottawa won't be in the post season.

It doesn't feel quite as good when you add "and the Sabres probably won't either, but Ottawa has already embraced the idea of rebuilding and will likely get a better draft pick."

Gonchar or Kovalev could get a fair price.

I guess filling out your roster with sissy floaters isn't a path to success. Oh, see NJD as well...

NJ is starting to figure things out though... 6-1-1 in last 8. Maybe it was all about their coach?
