BuffaloFansR_Crazy Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Way to finish and gain those 2 points! The WNY in me automatically makes me think of the 4 points they missed out on against the islanders and cringe because they would be in 8th
Overeducated Homer Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Remember the season opener, when the Sabres had not won in Ottawa since forever, but pulled out a win? That was cool. So was this.
Iron Crotch Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Still 3 points behind Carolina and still have Florida 2 points behind, but considering how bad we were in the first month of the season and considering our best center is out for the year, I'm pretty happy where we're sitting in the standings.
bunomatic Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Ok, I realized who it was pretty quickly, but am I the only person who thought "GOAL! Wait...who's #27?" when the goal was first scored? mrmojorisin
Stoner Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Really, what is the point of Miller's histrionics? Not gonna change the call. He needs to focus after a play like that. Wonder if the ref saw it as contact that didn't affect the outcome. Puck was in the net before the brunt of the contact. If anything, the Sabres' argument would be that the Sen prevented Miller from moving in his crease, but he didn't appear to be trying to move back across.
Stoner Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Byron looked good on draws. So so night for Gaustad. Big loss late in the Ottawa zone. I'd still like to see a "Big Draw" faceoff stat. Not sure Gaustad is the greatest when the heat is on.

He stopped Miller's glove hand from reaching out to the puck. It was interference. I'm just glad the (non-)call didn't effect the outcome.
bunomatic Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011  Just a guess based on the heavy breathing on the bench. Might be wrong but based on my own experience I wanted to crawl off the ice too. not sure how i managed that but this qoute was by me not P.A.?

If anything, the Sabres' argument would be that the Sen prevented Miller from moving in his crease, but he didn't appear to be trying to move back across. My first thought was that the contact came after the puck was in the net so it didn't have any effect on the outcome, no big deal. After watching the replay it looked like maybe Foligno prevented Miller from moving over. But..... does Foligno have an obligation to give Miller room to move? Maybe he does because he is in the crease? I'm not sure he does.

Foligno had just been pushed into the crease twice and Miller called for coming out and hooking a guy. A ref saw enough BS from the Sabres that he wasn't going to make a call like that. If he isn't going to call you...then clear the guy out. At least this team is more likable with the Humping Chihuahuas up front.

Miller clearly was distracted from the first contact. The one that you could argue that Sekera caused. Either way its a clear miss if they say they didn't see the contact. nice use of histronics. I commented couchside that he looked like a teenage girl that failed her drivers test.
Weave Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 LOL Hey bun, use of quote tags FAIL !!! :clapping:

bunomatic Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 That's better. :D Thanks weave
North Buffalo Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Humping Chihuahua or a return of the Lollipop Gang, either way I like their hustle. Gerbe, Biron and Ennis have great hustle and man Biron gets back on the play. Also thought he did really well on face-offs. Nice to see someone other than Gaustad with ability. I agree, I did a double take when I saw Morrison creeping in. My thought was what the hell is he doing in front of the net all alone?

Did you see Kelly going to the Ottawa bench and everyone there was sleeping so they were slow on the change? It was pretty comical but that was why our guy was in all alone.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 But pushing Foligno into the crease is not a penalty. Right, because he didn't call the 2 crosschecks from Sekera. Blaming Foligno for that play is like locking your little brother in the closet, then complaining when he busts the door open and breaks the doorknob. Common sense please.
JJFIVEOH Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Off topic......... Dean Brown and Denis Potvin are arguably one of the best PBP and CC combos in the league.
CallawaySabres Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Well that was a couple of ugly periods but 2 great points. Let's hope everyone is well rested (MENTALLY) after the break and Connolly never sees the ice again...EVER.
SwampD Posted January 26, 2011 Report Posted January 26, 2011 Right, because he didn't call the 2 crosschecks from Sekera. Blaming Foligno for that play is like locking your little brother in the closet, then complaining when he busts the door open and breaks the doorknob. Common sense please. C'mon, really? If they scored when Shakira pushed him into Miller, I got no problem with the no-call. When Foligno turned on his own and ran into Miller, keeping him from reaching out to get the puck, it's interference. I play in a no-hit beer league and they don't call what Shakira did in front of the net. Give me one other example of the refs calling that in the hundreds of games played just this year alone and you might have a point. It was interference.
