Weave Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 Good for him. Hopefully he has a relatively speedy recovery.
Sterling Archer Posted February 9, 2011 Author Report Posted February 9, 2011 Just got home and had to share. Dan was sitting up in a chair moving his arms and legs and answering yes and no questions and responding to commands. It was amazing. He even reached out at one point to shake my hand without me even asking. He can't talk yet because he still has the trache in but you can tell he wants to. He even reached out for his mom when we left to hold her hand and let her know it's going to be ok. It was awesome and extremely heartwarming. Two days in a row, this guy has had me crying tears of joy to seem him come this far and this fast.

Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted February 9, 2011 Report Posted February 9, 2011 You're a good friend to be so involved. A lot of people would run as far away from the situation as possible.
biodork Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 That's great news, Xander! GoDD is right -- kudos to you for being a true friend and sticking by your buddy through this.
Sterling Archer Posted February 15, 2011 Author Report Posted February 15, 2011 They've set a time table of about a month before Dan gets out of the hospital. They're weening him off the pain killers and starting to get him up and working towards walking.
Sterling Archer Posted March 15, 2011 Author Report Posted March 15, 2011 Well it's been a long month but Dan may get out of the hospital this weekend. They did the surgery to replace the pieces of skull they took out and he's been making leaps and bounds. Thanks for all the well wishes.
