Weave Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Read me The biggest chance in the lineup came at center, where Jochen Hecht was moved to the top line between Thomas Vanek and former linemate Jason Pominville, with Tim Connolly moved down to the No. 2 line between Tyler Ennis and Drew Stafford. The new Hecht line first came together late in Saturday's 5-3 loss on Long Island.
inkman Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Connolly, Stafford and Ennis sounds like lots of 4 on 2's the other way.
OverPowerYou Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 I think the sabres should have Neidermeyer centering Vanek and Pominville. Ruff keeps saying he needs his veteran center to be productive. How about putting him on a line with actual good players.
Marvelo Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 how about Hecht centering Niedermayer and Grier for the first line?
Two or less Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Desperate times call for desperate measures. Can't blame Lindy for trying, but doubtful it works, essp. against a team like Montreal who has completely owned us recently and their speed can really kill us.
korab rules Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Read me  Shoot me now. Only bright side is with ruff, you know the lines willl be reshuffled after the first period. It seriously looks like he is just shuffling the deck. The lines don't even make sense anymore.
JJFIVEOH Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Here's a novel idea. How about Lindy just keep the same lines together indefinitely? Does he ever stop to think that maybe the offensive output is average at best because these guys have no clue who they're playing with? Man, they're 5-2-1 in their last 8....... one horrible period against the Islanders and he's drawing straws again?
kishoph Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 How about GRIER, VANEK and DAVE WILLIAMS (equipment manager/center) or put VANEK with RIVET and LALIME. Or as stated above, try to keep lines together for more than half a dozen games. I can't wait till we get a real coach.

Kristian Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 It's becoming rather apparent that Ruff ran out of ideas years ago. Hecht has always been beyond worthless at center. A Blind man could see it. Yet here he is, centering the 1st line? Talk about things going south.
shrader Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 I have no problem with it. Hecht seems to have been productive as of late. I can't remember Connolly doing a thing all year when he's been paired up with Vanek (not sure who scored what in the Islanders game).
spndnchz Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 I've got no problem with it either. Last game Connolly had what a minute of ice time in the third period? Pommers and Hecht had success together just that Roy was the best option there. Now with him out and Connolly asleep Hecht is the choice. Vanek, Hecht, and Pominville put up the numbers last game, in fact the only numbers last game. Keep it going.
Tyrannustyrannus Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 I agree that he would be better than Connolly. Somebody needs to get Vanek the puck because he never shoots when he carries it in himself. Every time Vanek passes a kitten dies. And Hecht never shoots (never shoots well anyways), so maybe he will get Vanek the puck. Bottom line, it doesn't matter. Blow it up and start over.
BuffaTB Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 Hopefully the fourth line is still together, as they are the only line that has been playing well of late. But then again I'm sure Lindy will pull Nate for Rivet's 3 minutes of non-solid defense and go back to 3 lines.

I've never understood exactly what the little plus sign is for, but I just clicked it for the first time! Good thoughts.
Fire Lindy Ruff NOW Posted January 18, 2011 Report Posted January 18, 2011 how about Hecht centering Niedermayer and Grier for the first line? haha!
