Marvelo Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 They should dress Lalame up in a cheerleader's outfit, complete with a dress and a wig. He's like a baby arm growing out of someone's chest. He's there, but there's no use for him. Miller hasn't had a day off since Thanksgiving (and probably won't have one til Easter so they say). Just bring up Enroth and cut Lalame. You need two goalies. Who is the GM anyway? I wish it was Dudley.

LabattBlue Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Someone at the game PLEASE tell us who is in the owners box There were at least 10 people in OSP's suite. Paychex freebies????
nfreeman Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Just as expected: Zero scoring chances so far in the 3rd in the most desperate game to date (at home) Nobody to count on when team falls apart after a 2-0 lead Dead crowd This season needs to take the form of the Bills starting now. Bench or trade the dead weight (Connolly, Grier, Hecht, Niedermayer). Ship stafford off at the deadline and get a draft pick. When that 4th goal went in, I didn't even care - so it took until game 42 with the Sabres and Game 2 with the Bills. These guys are 10 points out and have not won 3 games in a row all year. I just can't believe how unbelievably boring this crap hockey is.... Announce new ownership so the city can get good news during the worst sporting year of my life Good post, especially the bolded part. it's over, it's just over. The anger has been removed and it's time to build a new team. One thing is for sure, this will be the best off season for Buffalo in MANY MANY years. I hope so, but it's hard to see why this is for sure. My thoughts on the game: - Fragile little children. The point made earlier about how the Flyers expected to win in the 3rd while the Sabres were just hoping to do so is spot on. - Miller needed to make a few more saves, especially vs Briere on the GTG. - The fact that they could've kept Briere for less money than they gave Pommer is the single most infuriating and unforgiveable blunder made by Sabres management during the post-2007 debacle, and one of the worst decisions by any team in the NHL in the last 10 years. - There is no reason to re-sign Montador unless he comes cheap and short-term. - TC, Pommer and Vanek: I'm embarrassed that this is my team's top line. - I will be deeply disappointed if TC is not traded at the deadline.
korab rules Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 There is a lot of talk on this board about dead crowds at HSBC - but you haven't really heard a dead crowd until you have been to Scotia Bank Place in Ottawa - I was there Saturday night for the game against the Lightning. An exciting, close 2-1 finish. The place was a freaking mausoleum. HSBC is Rich Stadium loud in comparison. I can't even express how dead that place is.
spndnchz Posted January 12, 2011 Author Report Posted January 12, 2011 Just noticed Vanek had a career high in ice time last night. 24 minutes. No show for practice this morning.
korab rules Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Just noticed Vanek had a career high in ice time last night. 24 minutes. No show for practice this morning. He was also playing on the 4th line for large portions of the game.
wjag Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Just noticed Vanek had a career high in ice time last night. 24 minutes. No show for practice this morning. I know he was out there and busting tail. He just always seemed a second late and a step short.
spndnchz Posted January 12, 2011 Author Report Posted January 12, 2011 He was also playing on the 4th line for large portions of the game. He was playing both lines for a while, looking at the sheets. Most shifts for the team I think. Interesting Nieds didn't play any third period besides final 44 secs.

spndnchz Posted January 12, 2011 Author Report Posted January 12, 2011 That's what I meant - double shifted. FTR, what is double shifted? is it used to mean they play continuously over two shifts of players or just that they are playing a bit more each shift? Vanek had a bit more than the usual 40 sec shift, 1 minute or so. But still had minute or more on the bench between shifts.
wonderbread Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 I know he was out there and busting tail. He just always seemed a second late and a step short. I know he got banged up pretty good a few times. I saw at least 2 seperate Thomas Vanek faces last night.
spndnchz Posted January 12, 2011 Author Report Posted January 12, 2011 Could've used Kaleta to slow the Flyers down last night. looks like he's out another week.
rbochan Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Just noticed Vanek had a career high in ice time last night. 24 minutes... And a whopping 2 SOG.

Vanek had a bit more than the usual 40 sec shift, 1 minute or so. But still had minute or more on the bench between shifts. Double shifted generally refers to playing on more than one line, or an entire line can be double shifted by playing more often than the normal rotation. A guy like Ovechkin or Kovalev can overstay his shift, but its usually because he's floating in the neutral zone. Its generally not helpful for a player to extend his shift beyond a minute, because they don't have the stamina, unless they are floating for portions of it or its a PP shift with significant zone time. That's why you shouldn't date hockey players - they are conditioned to go hard for only a minute at a time!
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 Last night after the 3rd goal, Ryan Miller reverted to pre-2006 Miller. He lost his composure BIGTIME. I didn't comment on it last night because it would sound like rubbing it in, but he went haywire. Taking un-needed chances, wandering all over, out of position, facial cues other than the patented WTF wave. He was on tilt. I haven't seen him do that in quite a while, no matter how frustrated he may have been. Wedding plans are a bummer. :)
wjag Posted January 12, 2011 Report Posted January 12, 2011 The Sabres should never be allowed to play another game on 1.1.11 It's obviously a bad karma day....

If he had Jedi mind powers, he could do that while drinking a Sprite and eating a donut before the game, while reading an Oprah magazine, instead of out there for the whole world to see. Old expression -- the lady doth protest too much.
