bob_sauve28 Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Boy, when he first started playing I thought he was hopeless. His skating is awakward and he just looked out of place, but he seems to have settled in nicely. Seems to have that knack for finding loose pucks in front and pounding them home--even if they sometimes hit a stick inside the net. Nice addition. He's scoring better than Neidermyer, Griere and Goose can. Looks like a winning pick so far
Fire Lindy Ruff NOW Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 luke adam looks like a gorilla.

Thedefeated Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Give him more time in Ruff's "system" and then he will look like he is hopeless again. More systematic failure so to speak.
bob_sauve28 Posted January 8, 2011 Author Report Posted January 8, 2011 Give him more time in Ruff's "system" and then he will look like he is hopeless again. I don't blame Ruff's system for ruining the players, I think its after they get these big contracts they really lose some motivation.
deluca67 Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 At 6' 2" 200lbs I would like to see more than a hit per game.
bob_sauve28 Posted January 8, 2011 Author Report Posted January 8, 2011 At 6' 2" 200lbs I would like to see more than a hit per game. I'm fine with him just scoring goals. Someone has to
inkman Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 At 6' 2" 200lbs I would like to see more than a hit per game. He's not a good enough skater to line up NHLers
carpandean Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 At 6' 2" 200lbs I would like to see more than a hit per game. As I pointed out in the last GDT, only four skaters for the Sabres were under 200lbs. That included Hecht at 198lbs. Ennis was the only skater under 6'. Not sure what my point is; certainly not that Adam couldn't stand to hit more. I just found it funny and since there were only four people in the GDT, I thought that this was a good time to point it out again.

Which is sad because this team plays like a roster full of players 5'9" 180lbs.
deluca67 Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 I'm fine with him just scoring goals. Someone has to I am sure you know this already, there are players in the league that actually do both. One example, a player the Sabres could have had, Dustin Byfuglien has 16 goals, 25 assists and 72 hits in 44 games.

Sterling Archer Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 I love the old "we could have had this guy" excuse. It's so outlandishly stupid. Hindsight is 20/20. The Bills could have had Peyton Manning. The Sabres could have had Wayne Gretzky. Both statement are true but the prospects that they would have happened are unknown and totally based on what we've seen them do.
Robviously Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 Boy, when he first started playing I thought he was hopeless. That's basically the story from training camp this year. After tearing up the GMJHL, the Sabres signed him expecting huge things and he looked lost in his first training camp as a pro. But he finally settled in and tore up the AHL in the little time he spent there. Now he's slowly getting better in his first extended NHL action.

wonderbread Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 Actually they are not true at all. I don't care how fat your lip is Deluca's correct.
SwampD Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 Which is sad because this team plays like a roster full of players 5'9" 180lbs. I'm not sure this is true anymore. They've actually been playing a more physical game for some time now, even before Roy went out.

Sterling Archer Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 I don't care how fat your lip is Deluca's correct. Swelling has gone way down. The Bills could have somehow put themselves in a position to draft Peyton. Gretzky was moved around a few times. I'm sure the Sabres could have stuck there noses in there. I'm saying it could have happened and thus have as much validity as saying the Sabres could have had Byfuglien.

deluca67 Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 Not even close. This is a terrible argument. Isn't the situation involving Byfuglien and the BlackHawks the exact situation that Quinn and Regier have been talking about since the lockout? They are going to be fiscally responsible and let other teams get into cap trouble and players would become available to them that otherwise would not. Am I wrong? Shouldn't the Sabres have been first in line once it was apparent that the Hawks needed to dump salary? The Sabres talk a good game about fiscal responsibility. When it comes to actually practicing it they appear to be one of the worst teams at it.
inkman Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 I remember Darcy also spouting off about how the Sabres weren't going to bail teams out of salary cap jail. It just sounds like he talks out of both sides of his mouth, telling the public whatever he thinks they want to hear. Picking up Byfuglien and Gagne wouldn't have helped the Sabres? So what if you are helping those teams. The important thing is that they would have helped the Sabres.

It's Regier's fear of losing a trade. It's been what? Eight years since the Drury trade? Eight years since Regier traded a useful member of his hockey team for a useful player on another team?

Regiers gunshy and he also overvalues his players to the extent that other G.M.s won't make deals with him.
