I pull for the Sabres to lose? Really? I see you've joined Jack and chz and Cheech and Chong down in Olean for some smoke time.

In a moment of objective candor, this season I've said the Sabres would be better off losing enough games to get Ruff fired and/or get the first pick in the draft. I've never sat down to watch a game and pulled for the Sabres to lose. This is about, putting emotion aside, what is best for the franchise, when it was apparent to everyone but the Polyannas that they weren't making the playoffs.

Hell, even when they were two points back in November, the facts and history and the makeup of the team and a lame duck coach suggested their record that far into a season already made it very unlikely they would make the playoffs. A team with 69 points was not going to make the playoffs. And all that has been proven true. Despite turning their season around (14-9-3 since a 3-9-2 start), they've only fallen farther and farther behind in the race.

Like I said, it seems that way from your posts. I can't tell what you do or don't do in your living room when the game starts. But it sure seems from your posts that you aren't really that interested in this team succeeding--as long as you can be "right"--and that goes back before this season began.

Ignore me if you want; I can't help that. Just sayin', that's how your posts come off.

+1 for unexpected mention of me and the gang.

You don't need to care. The point was simply that making a flippant comment about someone who was just brutally murdered and who is also someone's mother/daughter/wife/sister is pretty GD disrespectful. She had 2 kids, who are now going to grow up without a mother. Would you like them to google their mother's name and find your post?

If you don't want to pay your respects, fine, but the right thing to do is to keep those comments to yourself.

As the lady said, this should be discussed in a thread of it's own.

Wanting a new coach to come in and breath some life into the roster seems to be a pretty good indication of a poster wanting this team to succeed.

I can create a pretty long list of posters that "aren't really that interested in this team succeeding." They are those posters that show complete apathy. Those posters willing to accept that which is given to them by Status Quo. PA doesn't make that list. I doubt there are many that regularly post here that want to see this team succeed more.

Not all of his posts are about wanting a new coach, and even if they were, it's kind of like wanting a few people to die to get more attention for gun control laws, know what I mean?

I highly doubt that is going to happen

What he said was 100% harmless, IMO

A fine example of your inability to comprehend. You seem to believe that simply pointing something out means "wanting."

Oh, I didn't mean your remarks, necessarily, I could have used the following analogies, for example:

"It's like wanting economic collapse to draw attention to the dangers of unfettered capitalism..." or

"It's like wanting a famine to draw attention to world hunger..."

It's like rooting for your team to lose so that people will be drawn to your opinion regarding the head coach. IF that's what PA is trying to get across in his posts.

I don't know why I chose the particular analogy I did.

This is a message board where people give their opinions, unless it has changed. My opinion is, I just really don't care.

Agreeing with Deluca. And people that get all pissy that he has that opinion and is willing to share it, are fishing for attention and huge joke.

Where are the "yeah, right, they can't make up two points" people now?

Basically, the Sabres will need to go on a second-half pace equivalent to that set by Pittsburgh in the first half. 26-12-3, 55 points.

Bright side, for those people who have to find one: Just a year ago, this team was finishing up that kind of half-season. They were 26-11-4 at the halfway point (on their way to 30-11-6). That was with an elite Miller in goal.

I'm right here because when I was saying this it was the 1st week of November when people were saying this team is done. Obviously they are in trouble now but some were giving up after 10 games.

Maybe it was because the first 10 games looked just like the previous three seasons.

Bottom line: it's better to get to the playoffs than to be bad enough to get the #4 or #5 pick.

Of course. But you can be a fan and believe your team is going nowhere and argue that the best way the season could turn out would be with a number one pick -- especially with new ownership coming in. What a nice housewarming gift. Here's the key, and it's not rational: you believe that and you argue that, but you never want or root for your team to lose.

If Mom's not going to get better, and she's dying, and she's in pain, you can believe that the best thing for her is to die. You wouldn't stand by the bed and wish for it. The difference is so clear to me.

Thanks for the support. How could you think you are on ignore when I reply to your posts all the time?

This whole thing seems pretty self centered, almost egomaniacal of you. You believe that I'd rather throw it in the face of some anonymous dude on the Internet than see the Sabres rally and make the playoffs. You're not that important. Lindy is not that important. I am not going to sell myself to the devil for either one of you.

You have it out for Quinn, bigtime. If the Sabres were to win a Cup this year, you'd have some major crow to eat. I would never suggest you'd rather see the Sabres lose than admit you were wrong about Larry.

I don't love this team right now and neither do you.

Really, we're the same person. Maybe that's the problem.

Very nice point.
