7 defensemen dressed again tonight

What does everyone think about that?

Gerbe seems relegated to the 4th line if he dresses. IMO he is ill-suited to being on a 4th line so he might as well not dress. Then again, a 7th D-man never really gets into the flow of the game either.

Do they pay full fair for Gerbe when he travels with the team?

Seriously, if Gerbe can't knock Craig Rivet out the lineup as a seventh defenseman isn't that the final nail in the coffin for Gerbe's NHL career?

Hard to argue with this. He's gotten a lot of time and opportunity this year and done very little with it. He probably deserves another shot next year, but at this point the Sabres certainly can't count on much from him.

If they can score as many as they did the last time they dressed 7, I'm fine with that. Of course, you'd think that 7 d-men would make a team more responsibly defensively.

It's been debated for a while, but i agree, Gerbe is just not a NHL player. If he still somehow survives more games for the Sabres this season, major props to him, but, how the heck is he going to do it next season with Luke Adam making a full time gig and hopfully the team adding some players from outside the organization and even possible addition of Zack Kassian?

No matter how you slice it, 3 goals in 44 NHL games is just not pretty.

Does Gerbe have any trade value? Why not dump him for "future considerations" and call the next guy up from Portland? Give Mancari or someone a 44 game tryout.

I can understand your disappointment in Gerbe, but come on-- the next guy in Portland is Luke Adam who is already proving to be a bust and the last thing this team needs is another Paul Gaustad-- except twice as big, twice as slow, and no faceoff ability, ie Mancari.

I think with the way Sabres forwards have played this season, they might as well have as few of them involved as possible.

I'm excited tonight because this is the only game I'll get to see on a real TV in my own living room all season! Thanks, Altitude network!

Than skip Mancari and go to the next guy.

There is no next guy, Adam was pretty much the last Portland guy with any hype. Unless Colin Stuart and Matt Ellis provoke any tantalizing thoughts for you. Who else is there? Derek Whitmore has 11 goals in the A..

Not sure how you balance the ice time or keep the guy's in the flow but hey it's Lindy and they won last time with it so we know he is just proving he is an innovator.

No, but they do have to pay for an extra carry-on.

:clapping: Well played.

Where is that southwestern bag squad when you need them.

Great idea but they could also try and make a trade for a replacement upgrade to help as well and we know how much chance their is for that to happen.

Well Budaj confirmed as starter so does that make it another backup against the once mighty Sabres?

Not sure what to expect from this team but they are not mathematically eliminated yet so Go Sabres.

Than let it be him. This franchise can not afford to waste roster spots or time for that matter. If Gerbe, Mancari or even Butler for that matter can't beat out Rivet for a roster spot than get rid of them sooner rather that later.

Hmmm, and I thought all the press schills spout Darcy's strengths was his player drafting and development. So truth be told the cupboard is bare ?

This is a great point especially if we are truly getting ready to see a change in ownership, philosophy and direction. It still might be a tad to early but once new ownership is in place this should absolutely follow suit in my mind.

This off-season offers a great opporntunity to do a major purge of both the NHL and AHL rosters. Could you just imagine what a quality GM could do with the roster freedom and cap space that will be available?
