Weave Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 Well, Boston is slumping a bit, so we've got that going for us. These lines aren't confidence inspiring at all. Then again, I have no delusions that they'll last past the 5 minute mark. Vanek-Connolly-Jason Pominville Jochen Hecht-Rob Niedermayer-Drew Stafford Tyler Ennis-Luke Adam-Cody McCormick Nathan Gerbe-Paul Gaustad-Mike Grier
CallawaySabres Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 Biggest game of 2011 by far! This is the game that that propels the team into a furious stretch of relentless hockey as teams lay helpless in their wake. The newest assembly of line formations proves to be the cure that coaches have been seeking for the last few years. a 6-0 drubbing welcomes the new year in fantastic fashion. And if that does not happen, new ownership gets announced next week :)

spndnchz Posted January 1, 2011 Author Report Posted January 1, 2011 Induction of Alexander Mogilny and the late Jim Kelley into the Buffalo Sabres Hall of Fame during a pre-game ceremony.

darksabre Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 Yeah I'm just gonna go watch an RIT exhibition game and dvr the winter classic.
thesportsbuff Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 Going to the game tonight. Pretty bummed I have to miss the Winter Classic but all in all I don't really care. I get to debut my Ennis third and that's great news about the HOF ceremonies!
NowDoYouBelieve Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 New Years Resolution: To not get so angsty about the Sabres sucking. Also, to eat nothing but lentils for an entire year.
R_Dudley Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 Well wadda ya know a Sabres game. Happy New Year. Just not sure to expect much. I do know now that I have been watching some entertaining WJC hockey espedcially team USA and Canada that I will not suffer a poor peformance for long and have the winter classic to turn too. Interesting observation I have had watching the WJ tournament at HBSC, it seems the puck does not jump over those players sticks half as much as it regularly happens to Bflo when I watch. I always thought it was HSBC ice now I am thinking it is just poor execution of passing and receiving passes by the players. I will be watching that tonight to see how the puck bounces or not. Last I am starting to tire of Miller's comments and not stepping up and being accountable for his play. He seems to be deflecting a lot these days to other's like in todays snooze. said goaltender Ryan Miller, who is relieved all eight defensemen are healthy for the first time since Dec. 3. "Everybody should push each other and be hungry to play. I think that's how you handle it." I think if he cannot beat another backup goalie they face again tonight Lindy needs to call up Leggio or Enroth and see how Miller really feels about that competition he talks for everyone else about. Just shut up and let your play speak for yourself. Go Buf'a'lo

I distinctly recall reading somewhere a couple weeks ago that the league issued a pronouncement to all teams to turn down the ambient temperature in all of the rinks with the expectation that ice quality would improve. The arena seemed a bit cooler than I remember at the Canada-CR game on Tuesday and the stands were pretty damned full. Wouldn't suprise me at all if the arena has been cooler and the ice better quality because of it.

Still I will be watching how well they pass and receive the passes because it does seem Bflo's players have a lot of trouble with that and if true that is something the coach can stress in practice.

Ruff talked about the ice this morning. he said there's puddles in some of the corners. More related to the outside temps in the 50's than bad 'ice personnel'. I too have noticed it's Dwyer arena cold in HSBC this year. Gonna seem like playoff hockey, at least outside tonight. BTW, Sabres wearing thirds.
JohnRobertEichel Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 This guys are average! Scary average! Now do you believe??? Average implies somewhere around 15th-16th best in the league. Currently the Sabres are only better than 4 powerhouses: Devils, Islanders, Maple Leafs, and Oilers. So these guys are bad....SCARY bad.
Ghost of Dwight Drane Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 It could be cold in the arena because they are squeezing every last cent out of the cash cow? I noticed a few things this year like reduced staff in the clubs, cheaper quality food items, the lights are turned off on ice a few minutes after the final horn....just stuff like that. I don't know the physics behind arena heating so I can't say.
thesportsbuff Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 BTW, Sabres wearing thirds. YESS!!! Haha I can't wait to see them worn in person.
Stoner Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 Nice avatar :clapping: haha, I wonder if your avatar subliminally affected my choice.
Fire Lindy Ruff NOW Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 the sabres tirds suck, whats a lentil and bruins win 27-5
thesportsbuff Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 the sabres tirds suck, whats a lentil and bruins win 27-5 The Sabres' thirds are awesome, your grammar is lacking, and the Sabres win 4-1. Me being in attendance starts a 9 game win streak that turns the whole season around.

Me being in attendance starts a 9 game win streak that turns the whole season around. What are awesome about them? The logo looks like a bar league softball logo. The numbers look ridiculous and that yellow patch name plate looks horrid. Awesome? Awesomely bad.
carpandean Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 the sabres tirds suck The Sabres' thirds are awesome I'd put them squarely in between the two. They're not bad, but could have been better. The color is nicely historic and there are times that I wish they would go back to it, or something in between (did the WC jerseys use a darker royal blue or was is just me?) I do think that the pants are great, but I actually like my 40th hoody sweatshirt (same color, same logo, different stripes) better than the actual jerseys. Also, for the record, I believe that the Sabres do not officially have a third jersey this season. Officially, it is classified as their 40th anniversary jersey. Unofficially, it is called their third jersey because, well, they have two primaries, making this the third one. However, it is not a third jersey that will continue beyond this year.
