Wow! People you meet in the bars having a drink. This guy knew hockey inside and out. Here is a friggin killer folks. We are all pointing fingers at Ruff? How about Darcy this guys says!

Thomas Vanek is making more money this season than Sidney Crosby and Malkin and has a quarter of the talent.

I left with my tail between my legs and a yellow strip down my back.

This team has hit rock bottom and started to dig..... Thanks Tommy G.... Wherever U are! I hope Quinn is working that gloryhole for u!

Regier has taken his share of shots from Sabre fans. The team not being ready to play on almost a continuous basis falls directly on Ruff. No one is saying that this team is loaded with talent. You don't need talent to just show up ready to play the game.

I used to maintain that this mess was the bed Regier had made but have come to realize that as much as I like Ruff its time for the triad of Quinn,Regier and Ruff to go. Its clear that this team needs a fresh start and new direction. How many chances do you give these guys with our team?

What's the difference. If the skaters don't have talent, they will look like they didn't show up whether they did or not. Lack of talent = few wins no matter who is coaching.

Also, who (of note) would want to coach in Buffalo knowing that the front office gets rid of talented players? The whole reason fans want a new owner isn't as much as they have contempt for Tom G (face it, without him, you'd be attending AHL games at HSBC), but because the organization is held hostage by Quinn and Regier. There isn't a Pres/GM worth his title who would have made the player moves they did. Punch Imlach's hat is rolling over in his grave watching those two.

Obviously, he doesn't know hockey inside and out, since Vanek is making $2.6 million less this year than both Crosby and Malkin ($6.4 million vs. $9 million.)

That's not true. The point is still valid but Malkin/Crosby are making 8.7 mil and Vanek is making 7.1.

What's the difference? Imagine Kaleta's effort combined with Stafford's skill set. That would be one heck of a hockey player. Effort, intensity or drive which ever you want to call it is what separates most players. OV and Crosby are the two best players in hockey. They are also two of the most intense and driven players in the NHL. Don't get me wrong, with their talent they could float out there and still have outstanding careers. It's that intensity which makes them elite.

Effort and drive, for a team like the Sabres, can be a real equalizer. It can close the gap between them and the teams above them in the standings.

BOTTOM LINE IS THE SABRES CANNOT SCORE! I have seen time and time again, long stretches of intense offensive play by any number of our guys, and the result is the same, NO GOAL. They miss the net (they clear the crossbar more times than Vinitieri), miss wide open nets on rebounds, fail to lift the puck over a goalies pads (not that its easy), and take too long to shoot (allowing the opposition to set up a defense). This year, Kaleta's intensity has created more loud noises than goals. I like Kaleta, but last year he played better offensively.

You want this team to win, have somebody teach then to take better shots on goals. All the intensity in the world isn't going to help if the skaters keep missing the net.

Effort+Intensity= more room on the ice for marginal skill players and snipers to score more goals. Simple formula.

Remember the days when Steve Shields was your goalie and guys like Holzinger, Plante and Dawe led the team in scoring? Why were they able to succeed into the playoffs? Because they were surrounded by Ray, May, Barnaby, Primeau and Boughner...and scrappy guys that had talent like Audette, Peca, Ward, Grosek and Burridge. Does that sound like a bunch of world beaters to you?

Look at Phoenix the past few years. Same formula.

You need intensity, character, and personal responsibility before you even have a chance at winning. In the past 5 years, that better describes my morning on the porceline throne than it does the Buffalo Sabres.

By "you" do you mean Tom Golisano or someone real?

I like the fact that it took a dude at a bar to tell you something we've been saying for nearly 3 years now. But I guess reading is overrated.

What's a bar? Is there a function key for that? ;)

I guess some drunk seemed much more credible than the mouse potatoes on here.
