Corp000085 Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=2130399 this guy is a real idiot. Reading this "sincere" letter makes me realize that this is the type of guy who would break a guy's neck. I'm further disgusted with the vancouver canucks fans.. Who in their right mind gave this clown "kind wishes"? Was it steve moore? I don't think so. Speaking of Moore, i'm so glad that bertuzzi thanked him for making him a martyr. Oh wait, he just thanked his agent. Anyone think that bertuzzi is a martyr? How about a great guy who deserves our best wishes? I think not. He intentionally broke a guy's neck by punching him in the back of the head. He should be in jail, he should be suspended for a year's PLAYING TIME (not lockout time), and he should have at least appologized to steve moore in his pitty letter. Thoughts?
IKnowPhysics Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 I was surprised that he didn't mention Moore or the incident in his letter. I'm still surprised that he effectively served a 20-game suspension, while Dale Hunter served 21 games after his shoulder-displacing cross check on Pierre Turgeon, as Moore's career is over and Turgeon sat for six weeks.
Guest rickshaw Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 He apologized to him already. He's being sued by the guy and has most likely been advised to not discuss Moore at all! Folks you need to step back and realize that what Bert did was nowhere near as bad as some incidents in the past. Just the outcome was worse. It's too bad he got hurt but what's done is done. It's time to move on. Bertuzzi has to live with this forever. His kids will have to hear about it, it's never going away. That can be a burden many of us couldn't handle. He'll have to live with it forever. But Moore needs to let go of the hatred so he can get better too. What did Dan Snyder's parents do with Dany Heatly? Did they hate on him like they could have? No, they supported him and tried to move on from it. I'm not sayin Moore needs to be Bert's friend, but he needs to forgive the act or he'll never be better> he'll just die a bitter old man. Bert thanking the fans for supporting him isn't wrong. Murderers get 2nd chances, Bert deserves one too. Go Sabres!!
Pullup Champ Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 It's called "Being Responsible for your Actions". It's not the outcome, but the action itself. "I just pushed him, the kenetic energy pulled him down the cliff... 100 feet or so..." This is how criminals are beating the system The end result is what we are getting away from when it comes to punishment. Are you actually claiming we know what Bert meant to do? Would he have turned and skated towards to bench, if he thought he would have broken his neck? Rrrriiiiiiiight.... End result, Bertuzzi should not be respected for what he did, nor should he be given standing ovation for "making it though". I wonder how people will react to Moore, if he ever comes back. The same way they stood and clapped for Brashear after he hit the ice
Guest rickshaw Posted August 11, 2005 Report Posted August 11, 2005 the NHL has never suspended players based on the result of the injury. as much as Moore would like Bert to have to wait it out until he's better, the league has never done that. a slash causing a broken arm would get someone 5 games. not the 8 weeks the other player had to sit out. Another thing for Moore. He chose the lawsuit route and therefore that must be sufficient enough for him. He can't have it both ways any longer. 44 was fined over $500,000, couldn't play in any league for over a year and is now facing legal costs. The NHL was right to reinstate him. I hope you "ever" make a mistake your friends will stand behind you.

He also saw his dream shattered. He has now way of making money doing something he liked. If you put as much time and energy into making the Pros, you neglect other means of "life after hockey". Tim Horton and Fred Stanfield had plans, but Moore probably thought there was more hockey to help pay bills. Now there are hosptial, therapy bills- combined with oh sh*t! what do I do now? This will probably lead to a viable "Injured during a hockey game? Call the attorneys with experience - 1-800-get-bert" The NHL would only be right to instate him, if he actually served time. Last year he did play in Europe. So far, he hasn't served.

The fact of the matter is, he has a degree at Harvard, a full on degree, so hockey is actually his second love. the guys is smarter than anyone who plays hockey and has plenty to fall back on if his hockey career is over.
