dan213 Posted December 17, 2010 Author Report Posted December 17, 2010 Welcome to the board. Now, prepare yourself for the anti-Eklund onslaught. :D lol. I assume he's not reliable then? I just came across it and thought it was interesting. Something different from the negativity in most posts....
Weave Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 If Eklund posted it then you might as well take Richards off your wish list cuz he doesn't report anything that actually happens.

Taro T Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Would definately be interesting... http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog/Eklund/Richards-Talk-Driven-by-LeafsIslesSabres-NJ-Watch-On-Pronger-4-6-weeks/1/32187 It would be fantastic if he ended up in B&G. Unfortunately my guess is that Ek finally got around to checking out this (and likely other Sabre) site(s) that have been proselytizing for Richards for the last 6-12 months.
nfreeman Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 I think there is no way that the Sabres make any significant move (including coach, GM or significant trade) until the sale happens.
deluca67 Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 I think there is no way that the Sabres make any significant move (including coach, GM or significant trade) until the sale happens. Fixed.
carpandean Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 Fixed. Normally, I agree with such fixes, but if the team is sold, then neither you, nor I, nor anyone else, knows what "they" will or will not do. That is because "they" would no longer be the same "they" that has been running this place for too long. Maybe the new owner adopts status quo, maybe he just rides it out until the end of the season, or maybe, just maybe, he comes in and cleans house. New GM, new coach, and a decree from above that there will be change.

New GM, new coach, and a decree from above that there will be change. Heck, I'd be content short term to see the Darcy Regier of pre-lockout years return. Does anyone remember that guy? The one who wasn't afraid to move Brad May, Steve Sheilds, Matt Barnaby, Mike Wilson, Derek Plante, Cory Sarich, Michael Grosek, Eric Rasmussen, Vaclav Varada, Chris Gratton (need I go on?) in order to change the personality and style of the team. And that list doesn't include the moves he made because his hand was forced (LaFontaine, Peca, Hasek, Kozlov). If I am not mistaken those moves were all made pre-Golisano (yeah, I know some were salary purges). Who had Darcy traded since Tommy G has taken the reigns? Rhet Warrener, Curtis Brown, Taylor Pyatt, Paille, Paetch, Macarthur. Did I miss anyone? Other than that, all he has dealt were low risk prospects and draft picks. What does that tell us? A new owner can't come soon enough.

Two or less Posted December 18, 2010 Report Posted December 18, 2010 If Pegula does own the team, i wouldn't be surprised if they do go after Brad Richards.
BuffaloBeliever Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 Absolutely it could be realistic if Pegula becomes the owner but the bottom line is we don't know yet if he is going to become the owner. Right now, we have to face facts which are that we have a frugal owner in Golisano not willing to spend additional money on the Sabres than he already does and we know that we have one of the most conservative, cagey GM's in the NHL in Darcy Regier. Now, does that mean we won't make any moves whatsoever before the trading deadline? Absolutely not (I'd actually expect them to try to add another Winger to the team if there's deal to be made), but it would be a huge shocker if the Sabres actually made for once a bold, gutsy trade like trading for Richards
fiftyone Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 Dallas has a good squad this year, I'm thinking they'll make a run rather than dumping Richards at the risk of losing him over the summer.

A new owner can't come soon enough. You are missing one major point. Regier's willingness to move the players from a previous regime more than moving his own players. After Hasek carried this team to the finals the talk was how it was Muckler's team that went to the finals. Since then Regier has put his stamp on this franchise which would explain all the non-playoff seasons.
Eleven Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 BREAKING NEWS: Sabres are NOT interested in Brad Richards. However, they are interested in Denise Richards. They feel that she can add toughness at center.

inkman Posted December 19, 2010 Report Posted December 19, 2010 So has everyone shifted their homophobic feelings to Roy instead of Miller? I missed the memo. I need to start attending the meetings I guess.
