deluca67 Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 I agree with that. But too many times from different people, I have heard them say Miller is the best goalie in the world. but hey everybody is entitled to their own opinion. That may have been said on this board last year. I can honestly say I haven't read that opinion lately. I don;t think Miller gets a free pass around here. I think posters have a firm grasp on the level of goalie Miller is and are comfortable with it. He is a good goalie to have going into the playoffs if you have built a solid team around him.

BuffaloFansR_Crazy Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 I just saw that Clark MacArthur just fought and hurt Jaro Spacek Yeah I couldn't believe that when I saw it on HNinCanada
Stoner Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 I agree, just not the goal when said that. Myers was playing grab ass with the puck when he should have been killing the guy in front of the net. With officiating like that, I don't see the Pens losing until after the Winter Classic. I didn't have a big problem with the refs. Sabres were 0-4 and had a five on three. The Pens were 0-4. Crosby didn't really deserve a penalty in the tussle with Weber but got one. What is your beef?

How about when Weber challenged him to a fight and he pussed out, but Kunitz jumped in and didn't get anything? The no call slash on Myers? 2 minutes for "interference" when Weber was boarded? The NHL really is a garbage league.

Crosby didn't really deserve a penalty in the tussle with Weber but got one. What is your beef? Interference on Roy not called. Interference on Ennis not called. Only an interference call on the McCormick hit? Many hooking no calls. With that said, I don't even think the officiating had any effect on the outcome of the game, just saying. When you are already a good team, to have the advantage of the refs as well it's going to be hard to lose.

Officiating in the NHL is very poor, there is no argument on that point.

The NHL really is a garbage league. Again, you don't have to make contact with someone to get called for slashing. The Weber situation was a sawoff -- Crosby probably didn't deserve a penalty. Boarding can be a minor, of course, depending on the degree of violence. What's in a name?

korab rules Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 Actually Biron was to be Hasek's replacement. You are correct, they are using the same formula they used when Hasek was here. How many Cups did they win? I'll say it again, Miller is nowhere near the level of goalie Hasek was. There is only one goalie playing today that is and he plays in New Jersey. Hasek was the best player in the world when he played for the Sabres. Miller is not that goalie and I don;t see any posters here that say he is. The failure is with the front office for trying to pretend Miller is. Are you high? Brodeur is washed up at this point. Even in his prime he was the product of a system. Hasek in his prime is unrivaled. And i say that as someone who thinks hasek is a piece of ###### as a human being.
SwampD Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 Pittsburgh fans would have a similar list. There's nothing to see here... If Crosby was interfered with the way Roy was interfered with on that play, there is no way you can tell that there would not have been a penalty. The only difference is that Crosby wouldn't have been interfered with because he's way bigger (and better) than Roy. It's still a penalty, though.
korab rules Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 AWESOME interview with Weber. He automatically goes from the doghouse to the penthouse in my book. I look forward to his toughness and attitude for a while... Forget the interview, how about his play?!? Good thing we didn't send him to portland after the Boston game as many were advocating.

And i say that as someone who thinks hasek is a piece of ###### as a human being. "Product of a system" is such crap. Brodeur is the system. Hasek, Roy and Brodeur are the three greatest goalies to ever play the game. I don't think there is even a close fourth. Of course Brodeur isn't the goalie he once was. Hasek wasn't the same when his career winded down. The point remains that there is no goalie playing today that can compare to the top three. Not Miller and not even Louongo.
BuffaloFansR_Crazy Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 Be better than this. <_< You are a perfect example of why people consider the NHL a garbage league. "well both teams had 4 PP and both sides can complain about missed penalties." Yeah, in an NFL game the teams are always equally penalized and they never call holding or false starts on Brady's or Manning's team. No wonder ESPN dropped this league and its only broadcast nationally on the Outdoor Network (but never on weekends). Being disciplined is part of being a team, having a super star shouldn't give you a free card to do what ever you want.
OverPowerYou Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 Is this the end of the world? Probably not. The Sabres still have more than half the regular season to play and have to catch up to weaker teams in 6-8th place. This should be an easy task. Buffalo has kept most of their team intact from last year, so we all know how good they can be, just wait until they are all healthy again (if that ever happens) and they'll get a streak going themselves. You really think Buffalo can't catch up to teams like Atlanta or New York? Atlanta For ####'s sake!

How many penalties did a flopping Hasek draw? 1 or 2 a game? Officiating in every sport is flawed. The NHL is no different than the NFL NBA and MLB in that regards. To try and blame this loss on the officiating is just weak. For every "bad call" against the Sabres I' sure you can find a bad call against the Pens. Weber just punched Crosby in the face. Why did Crosby even get a penalty. I love the play by Weber but there is no way Crosby deserved a penalty.

deluca67 Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 Crosby got a penalty for the same reason Pominville got one. So the call was consistent? This officiating debate is just taking away from the fact that this team is just not good enough and after a 3-1-1 stretch they will be at least 6 points out of a playoff spot. Possibly 7 depending how Tampa does.
Eleven Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 I can't wait til Hecht is gone and playing in the KHL...he has to be the 2nd most overpaid player on this team. The KHL won't take him. Easy to be physical when the referees eat their whistles while you're mauling the other side. Amen. Better players get the benefit of the doubt. There was no way Orpik should have gotten away with what he did after/during the Ennis goal, either. Or Talbot. Look, you're right, generally, the better teams get the calls. But where was that when Drury and Briere were around? This was bullsh*t tonight. The Pens were allowed to cheapshot the hell out of the Sabres. Punches to Roy's head, not called. Sticks to Gaustad's groin, not called. Etc. This was absolute bullsh*t. ___ As for the Pens fans at the game, I don't know why, but the last several years, there have been a lot of Pittsburgh fans at Pens games. Sorta like what we used to see when the Rags came to town. I think it's a ton of Canadians who are fans of players (Crosby and his pube-stache, probably), rather than teams. There was a dude wearing a vintage Pens jersey at Wegmans this afternoon, buying nothing but beer. You know he's not a local.
JohnRobertEichel Posted December 12, 2010 Report Posted December 12, 2010 Is he anything more than just average? He sure hasn't looked like it except for a couple of games this season. When is the last time he stood on his head and stole a win for this team? I think he has been warn out and distracted ever since the Olympics last year...where Crosby... This season, at least, he has certainly been nothing more than mediocre. He is in the middle of the pack in every statistical category for goalies.
