Patty16 Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Is Regier "being active" because he thinks it's best for the team or is he "being active" because "Pegula's people" told him what he is going to do? Does it matter? He has to do what his boss says just like anyone else.
shrader Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 They should do it WWE style. Announce Terry Pegula and bring him to center ice. He talks for a awhile thanking everyone. He then calls Regier down to center ice where he gives him the Vince McMahon "You'rrrreee Fiiiiirrrrreeeeddd!" Just don't let it happen against Pittsburgh. You just know Pegula would wind up taking a steel chair to Ruff in that game (although some may like seeing that).
nobody Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Just don't let it happen against Pittsburgh. You just know Pegula would wind up taking a steel chair to Ruff in that game (although some may like seeing that). Then Pegula rips off his suit jacket to reveal a Penguins jersey?
shrader Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Then Pegula rips off his suit jacket to reveal a Penguins jersey? And then he turns around and re-concusses Crosby... revealing his true ties to the Flyers.
Assquatch Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Then Pegula rips off his suit jacket to reveal a Penguins jersey? He then announces he's merging the Sabres and Penguins rosters and will ice an all-star team from that pool of players. (It ends up strangely resembling the Pittsburgh Penguins just as they were.)

UncleWally Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 And then he turns around and re-concusses Crosby... revealing his true ties to the Flyers. WOOOOO Chester, I'd rather see a Ranger sweater.
Lanny Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 WGR reporting it's official! http://wgr550.com/Pegula-Officially-Approved-as-Sabres-Owner/9234538 Terry Pegula has officially been approved. WGR has learned from a high ranking league source that the NHL Board of Governors have officially approved the sale of the franchise to billionaire Terry Pegula, just hours before the team's game against the St. Louis Blues. The announcement is expected to be made on Tuesday, February 22nd, where there is a press conference that is expected to take place. DarrenDreger I'm told board voted unanimously in favour of sale of Sabres to Pegula.
Stoner Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Still has to close. PA bites at his nails.
ROC Sabres Posted February 18, 2011 Report Posted February 18, 2011 Still has to close. PA bites at his nails. I heard he was planning on putting the purchase on one of his credit cards. Not really, but that's how T-Pegs rolls.
Bmwolf21 Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 I heard he was planning on putting the purchase on one of his credit cards. Not really, but that's how T-Pegs rolls. Of course. He wants to make sure he gets maximum value in his credit card rewards program. He's thisclose to a free companion ticket on US Air.
LGR4GM Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 You know what pegula should do? He should buy one of those old warehouses right next to the arena and bulldoze it. Then he should build a nice hotel and casino. Then he should keep a floor open so when another team comes to town they stay there and if we acquire or call up any ppl from portland they stay there too free of any charge. If you are a current player you can live there to for like 50% off. This way the waterfront gets better and Pegula makes this team more attractive to players. He could in a single stroke begin an overhaul of the waterfront and even maybe convince the development board to build a super swanky aquarium and museum next door. Just imagine that world... yes i know it wont happen but it would be great. :wallbash:

This goes hand in hand with something Mike Schopp has been talking about. Making your team a destination for NHL players. You're always selling to opposing players because one day, you might want them to come and play for you.

deluca67 Posted February 19, 2011 Report Posted February 19, 2011 If he put that on his credit card I would think his reward would be his own jet. It would be awkward if the first swipe of the card came back declined? I could imagine his response, "Oh yeah, I used this card to buy a small Latin American country. Try my American Express Uranium Card."

Even if the Sabres' new owner doesn't want to get into the hotel/casino business, you'd think there was some real-estate whiz-kid (and not LQ) who could find a wa to make this idea work.
Stoner Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 So...what does the "press conference" look like on Tuesday? Chairs set up in the pavilion; table with a mic; media elite; suits; Sabres shower curtain in the background? Or does the presser signal that there's a new sheriff in town? That he has an imagination? Can pull off big things? Understands what this is all about? Put it on ice; open the doors to the fans.

Have to be Native American to open that casino.
deluca67 Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Have to be Native American to open that casino. Per WGR, "Terry Pegula has just purchased Native America."

notwoz Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 Have to be Native American to open that casino. Well then, let the Senecas build a casino, and some real estate developer can build an adjoining hotel . Or, you could be like LQ and hope that Bass Pro comes down town:doh: .
Bmwolf21 Posted February 20, 2011 Report Posted February 20, 2011 If he put that on his credit card I would think his reward would be his own jet. Rewards programs ain't what they used to be.
LGR4GM Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Ok so he doesnt make a Casino the point is he needs to put something thats fancy and sabre owned next to HSBC so the players have a place they can go. Kinda like a clubhouse for Baseball. Build a hotel put a w/e in it like a movie theatre or something, and obviously a couple of restaurants and idk a bowling alley who cares. But if I wanted to build a real franchise and I could purchase real estate in a city near my arena for mad cheap and new that there was a development need and want from the community I would do it. Hotel, with indoor aquarium and sabres only floor and full service spa (but get a local spa place like a capellos or something to go in) Include everyone. Have a grand lavish ballroom for events and weddings. Bring in music acts or if you have they come to HSBC coordinate with them so they stay at your hotel making it the place to be. Look Pegula Hire me I will work for you wherever just let me in the door. Thats the end of my sales pitch (and yes I know he will never read this) :wallbash:

LGR4GM Posted February 21, 2011 Report Posted February 21, 2011 Ahhh, but his daughter might. I am serious I would love to just run the numbers for them and be like look this guy trends to do this and blah blah... Like Thomas Holmstrom he will start a season scoring like say 20 goals in about 30-35 games then he will flatline and suck alot. Usually gets injured and yup that would be a guy I would avoid, and further more darcy has this break even attitude with all the trades and if you want something good you might have to gamble a couple of times. I would be an intern for this organization thats how excited i am.
